This is such a joy to visit rather than a boring business hotel. The vibe is buzzing, modern yet retro with engaging staff & interesting bric-à-brac to look at. I loved the vinyl room where you can relax & spin disks (& smoke). There is a sauna at the top of the hotel with drinks and a great view. The bedrooms are fresh & well thought out with original features to complement the sailor theme of the hotel. This is a complete hotel experience with the theme running seamlessly in all areas of the hotel. The food was good though service a little slow. I would absolutely recommend.
A fun hotel which is very refreshing and a different experience from the usual boring stiff collar types. Each space and element in the hotel delightfully surprises you. the music in the lobby is great and breakfast is very good. I loved the room amenities and the fact that you can even buy those from their shop in the lobby. Loved the hotel, I'm coming back!
"Fun experience, perfect for Hamburg"
We arrived quite early in the morning, but we were lucky, the room was already available. The room is so much fun, you can spend quite a while just checking out all the little details. I really loved the wallpaper and my boyfriend became a fan of the boombox :D One thing, and that's the only very minor thing, that is missing is a hook in the shower for the towel. We had breakfast once during our stay. Great quality and good selection. We loved that the hotel offers free bikes, which all have cute, typical German names (Hans!) :) I would even be okay to leave a deposit or pay a small fee, if this would mean that they are in a bit better shape (on my first one the lock was broken and the breaks of the second one need some grease, the sound was horrible and i never needed my bell that day ;) ) The area is calm, but it is so easy to get to the city center (for example, there's a bus just around the corner which brings you straight to Reeperbahn!) I would consider the location perfect All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and will recommend the hotel to people we like! :D
"Quirky hotel in a refreshing way"
I visited Hamburg for a trade show at the Trade Fair (Hamburg Messe). Although it’s not close, the location is great because Hafen City is becoming a bright spot in Hamburg for good restaurants. The hotel is also close to several U-Bahn stations. My room was small, and had a bunk bed. But it was large enough for me to spread out my two suitcases. The Wi-Fi worked reliably, but the signal was weak and the speed slow. The room had a small desk which was adequate. It also has a refrigerator but no kettle or coffee maker and no iron. I heard no noise from the bar below, the street, or other guests during my entire stay. There’s a communal space on both the ground floor and first floor, which wasn’t explained to me upon check in. There’s a bar and restaurant as part of the hotel open until late and at times noisy. These are good, but the hotel is within 10 minutes walking distance from a good beer hall (Gröninger). I took a taxi to and from the airport (€28 each way). You can get there by U-Bahn but I imagine it would be difficult with luggage. But once you are in Hamburg, buy the Hamburg Pass which gets you on busses and subway for €10 per day. I did not find a grocery store nearby, but I didn’t look too hard, and I never saw any convenience store anywhere in Hamburg. Finally, you can walk to the spot where many take a photo of the Hamburg canals. It’s not too hard to find, and is just a slight detour when walking to or from the beer hall!
"Outstanding experience and staff"
I booked the 25hours Hotel at HafenCity at the last minute and had a great experience. The check in staff were very helpful with advice on "must see" sites in the surrounding area and with local dinner favorites. The hotel room's nautical theme was cute. More importantly the room was quiet despite all the local construction that seems to have taken over much of downtown Hamburg. The bar is a little pricey. I would definitely recommend 25hours when you're in town.
