"Great hotel if you like design"
Great looking hotel, friendly staff, good location (right next to the metro station and within walking distance of the Elpphilharmonie). In the end the design had to make up for some flaws though; View could've been better. When I booked the room, I specifically asked for a room with a view, but was given one overlooking the patio. I also selected two free optional extras: I asked for the mobile hotspot, but that wasn't available. Secondly, I asked for a late checkout but wasn't offered that either (no problem though, in the end I didn't need it). Housekeeping could be a little bit better. The shower gel bottle wasn't functioning and the drink that I took from the minibar wasn't replaced so I couldn't have the same drink the next evening. Breakfast is quite expensive for what you get. The bluetooth speaker is a nice feature.
"Amazing Design Hotel in Harbour & Sea style "
Fantastic! Outstanding Hotel with a healthy difference to the normal hotel world. Very nice staff, perfect location in the middle of new HafenCity. 10min Walk to Elbphilhamonie. New favorite hotel in Hamburg, will be back.
"Maritime wet dream"
I stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Wanted to nominate everybody from front desk, cleaning and restaurant for employee of the month! Décor, coquettishly marine-ish, is definitely on the quirky-cutesy side, but rooms are relatively spacious, and the lighting wonderful. I absolutely loved the lovely, high-ceilinged foyer which was sort of a wet dream of maritime paraphernalia. Restaurant has a hostel ambience which, honestly, I should have outgrown, but I had a really good time there. Good value for the money all around.
This hotel was trendy and lived up to our expectations as somewhere a little different but still to a decent standard. We had a room on the 6th floor which had good views across the harbour. It's an industrial vista but the rooms gave a good view nonetheless. The location of the hotel seems quite 'out of it' when you first arrive, however after a couple of days getting our bearings we realised that the walk from the true centre was actually not too bad and took around 20 minutes. We got the train from Hamburg airport, which was really easy to do. The first time we got off at the Hafencity station, but Uberseequartier (1 closer to the airport) was literally just across the road so really handy. The area has the feel of somewhere that will be extremely popular and busy in a couple of years, when all the construction is completed, however at the moment this means it feels quiet and can be a little empty at night time. I'm sure it's safe, but when we came back late we took cabs instead of the U-bahn. The hotel itself has a really hip look, with the Heimat Bar and Kitchen on the side. We ate here once for dinner, I will complete a separate review for that but the overall experience was good. Check-in was fast and they managed to let us have our room very early which was great of them. I had e-mailed ahead and asked could we leave our luggage if our room wasn't ready, and check in later, and they said that this was possible. I guess we were lucky that there was a room available and they were willing to check us in. The room itself was a decent size, not enormous but plenty of space for two of us. There was shower in the bathroom which was spacious, and there were cool design features that all fit with the maritime theme of the area. We read once in the room that you were able to hire both bikes and minis free of charge while staying at the hotel, which is a great option if you wish to drive or cycle. We were happy to use the extensive U-bahn network as this meant we could get around the city quickly and easily. It was about 6 euros for a ticket that allowed you to make unlimited off peak journeys which I thought was good value. The only little niggle I had with the hotel was that all the mini bar was chargeable - it would have been nice to have water at least that was not part of the charged items, but this was only a small thing as there was a supermarket just around the corner where you could buy drinks or snacks. We had a hairy experience one morning where we got locked outside on the balcony (we were able to get someone's attention to let us back in!), and this was just after we'd been stuck in the lift for about 10 minutes! The latter experience was more scary, as we rang the alarm and nobody answered. We were lucky in the end that we were able to open the doors and take the stairs! Perhaps the hotel need to make sure that the emergency contact system is working in the lift! Despite this, we had a good experience here in this well appointed, friendly hotel and we would not hesitate to return.
"the best breakfast of my life"
I had a short stay at this hotel since our Hamburg office is within walking distance. The hotel is young and hip with a design trend on the quirky side; actually i felt more like a design gallery than a hotel, which is refreshing in a world full with impersonal and stale hospitality experiences. The room was spacious yet cozy and very well appointed (everything was in perfect working condition and felt new). The bathroom was nice and the water pressure very consistent in the shower with great toiletries/amenities. The biggest standout of the hotel was the buffet breakfast spread... it was by far the best breakfast I've had at any hotel in the world. THe products were carefully selected, abundant, fresh, bright and delicious... the coffee, the pastries, the preserves and the salmon platter I will never forget. I'd travel to Hamburg just for breakfast there again.
