The Abbaye de Talloires is situated 12 kilometers from Annecy on the eastern side of the lake. Located in the heart of the Talloires bay, getting to the abbey is not difficult. Annecy is served by a High Speed Train (TGV) station and Geneva airport is less than an hour away by road.

"Great location, nice room, ok..."
Great location near the lake. Staff members were pleasant. Was not aware that the restaurant was closed on a Monday. (I did not read the small print on booking.com). We did not try the breakfast so can not comment. Not sure that this hotel is value for money.
"Unique and Rewarding Experience"
The hotel is situated in an idyllic location on Lake Annecy. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by Melanie. Melanie was genuinely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Lauren the person at the reception desk in the mornings was very helpful and welcoming. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and professional. Special recognition to Melanie, Lauren, Kevin and the two gentlemen who assisted with our luggage and parking. The rooms are not the cookie cutter type one finds in tourist hotels. Each room is different and unique. Our room was a nice sized room with a view of the cloister. This hotel and its location is a place to take time out to enjoy the natural beauty of its setting and the serenity of a peaceful sleep. I also loved hearing the bells in the morning from the church in the village. The breakfast is a nice variety including delicious bread, croissant, cheeses, meats, fruits and a delicious rice pudding. The service was attentive. I highly recommend this hotel for a truly wonderful experience.
"Visit to a beautiful hotel in a magnificent setting."
We were attending a wedding and stayed for four days. From the time we checked in to our departure I found all the staff to be professional and warm providing excellent customer service. Our room was all that one would expect from a hotel of this standard, king size bed, turn down service, and to boot when you stepped out onto balcony you had choice, look left a the wonderful vista of the lake surrounded by mountains, look right and the mountains were stretching up to the sky. Yes the shutters were old and paint was peeling outside but inside they successfully mixed contemporary with old world. Bathroom facilities excellent. Breakfast was a leisurely affair and staff replenished coffee immediately when asked. The hotel does not have a lift but we were helped with luggage.
"Location, location, location!"
You may pay a little more than the average stopover to stay at this wonderful hotel, set in a little bay with turquoise blue waters and its own sunbathing deck, but it is worth it! This renovated former abbey dates from the 17th century and oozes period charm and character. We had a room looking over the bay which gave a wonderful view. We really valued the feeling of peace and calm - waking in the morning to the sun streaming through the window, with the only sound that of the water lapping up against the moored boats. The restaurant was closed on the Monday and Tuesday of our stay and on the third night there was a pre-bookable gastro night with a set-menu, so we didn't get to eat in the hotel - something to rectify next time. Tailloires has some great walks into the surrounding hills and mountains. We did two short hikes, including one to a nearby waterfall. Some good gradients to blow away the cobwebs. The swimming in the bay - the water temp is about 23 degrees in Sept - was a wonderful way to refresh tired legs. A special mention about the staff - the people on reception went out of their way to make us feel at home, dealing efficiently with every request and being especially helpful recommending excursions and walks. Our only gripe is that the breakfasts at 25 euros each seemed a little expensive. That said there was plenty of choice and it was tasty. You can even grind your own oats to add to the cereal. Although we liked the town of Annecy itself, we were so pleased that we stayed in Tailloires - and particularly pleased that we chose this very special hotel!
"Beautiful historic building, high quality modern facilities"
The building, particularly inside, is really lovely, somehow managing to combine modern facilities and historic features, perfectly. Service was impeccable, professional and friendly, without exception. The position, overlooking the lake, and the lovely grounds, where dinner was served most evenings, help make this a very special place. Our room was comfortably big enough for us and contained a king size double bed (about 6ft, 1.8m wide and really comfortable). Our daughter had a small double bedroom, occupied as a single. The furnishings and bath/shower rooms were all very good. There was a very good selection for breakfast. Dinner was about six courses spread over about 2 hours, with immaculate and often charming service. Talloires itself is a very attractive place on the lake.
