"Quiet old world elegance. Outstanding. My daughter's wedding"
Wow, perfect lakeside setting with Lido sunbeds to take in the stunning views. A very comprehensive wine cellar with wonderfully informative Sommellier. Full five star service right from the front gate through the dining room to the very luxurious bedrooms. We attended a wedding in Sept, held in the gardens , what a most incredible setting with the backdrop of the mountains with the para-gliders swirling down with their multicoloured wings. The chefs picking and cutting the vegetables from the garden for the evening feast served in a canvas pavillion attached to the side of the 16 Century Abbaye building. A favourite holiday venue of Mark Twain, Winston Churchill and many others. Nothing was too much trouble for staff, who went out of their way to make you feel as if you lived there all the time. You can catch a local ferry across the lake to Annecy from the jetty just at the hotel gate. This venue is a complete switch off, you park the car and can walk around the village to a selection of some lovely local hostelies. Hotel has the full range of first class facilities, Spa, boat rental etc, etc. Well worth a visit and once you been once you'll be back time and time again.
"My daughter got married here-perfect!"
My daughter had her wedding reception in this historical, beautiful Abbaye. This was a few years ago and yet the love of the amazing families, elegant, delicious, meals, as well as outstanding atmosphere and beautiful clear-water Lake Anncey and inspiring Alpine mountains provides frequent, joyous memories to all 25 family and friends who attended from the U.S.A. We and our new-French family and friends (100+) had the most uniquely extraordinary wedding experience; mostly because of the warmth of our French loved ones but also because of the level of care and warmth from those in the breathtakingly, beautiful Abbeye and cities- Annecy and Talloires. Yearly visits abound:-)
"Great location, nice room, ok..."
Great location near the lake. Staff members were pleasant. Was not aware that the restaurant was closed on a Monday. (I did not read the small print on booking.com). We did not try the breakfast so can not comment. Not sure that this hotel is value for money.
"Unique and Rewarding Experience"
The hotel is situated in an idyllic location on Lake Annecy. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by Melanie. Melanie was genuinely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Lauren the person at the reception desk in the mornings was very helpful and welcoming. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and professional. Special recognition to Melanie, Lauren, Kevin and the two gentlemen who assisted with our luggage and parking. The rooms are not the cookie cutter type one finds in tourist hotels. Each room is different and unique. Our room was a nice sized room with a view of the cloister. This hotel and its location is a place to take time out to enjoy the natural beauty of its setting and the serenity of a peaceful sleep. I also loved hearing the bells in the morning from the church in the village. The breakfast is a nice variety including delicious bread, croissant, cheeses, meats, fruits and a delicious rice pudding. The service was attentive. I highly recommend this hotel for a truly wonderful experience.
"Visit to a beautiful hotel in a magnificent setting."
We were attending a wedding and stayed for four days. From the time we checked in to our departure I found all the staff to be professional and warm providing excellent customer service. Our room was all that one would expect from a hotel of this standard, king size bed, turn down service, and to boot when you stepped out onto balcony you had choice, look left a the wonderful vista of the lake surrounded by mountains, look right and the mountains were stretching up to the sky. Yes the shutters were old and paint was peeling outside but inside they successfully mixed contemporary with old world. Bathroom facilities excellent. Breakfast was a leisurely affair and staff replenished coffee immediately when asked. The hotel does not have a lift but we were helped with luggage.
