"Very Solid Hotel"
Stay Report - 10/22 - 10/24 Location: The hotel is located by the Bella Sky Convention Center. It's about 3 miles from "downtown" Copenhagen by which I mean City Hall Plaza or Tivoli and about the same from CPH. A cab from CPH costs 140 DKK (about $22 USD) and a Uber to the center of Copenhagen cost me 80 DKK (about $12 USD). Alterantively, 200 meters away is the Bella Sky stop on the M1 line of the Metro which you can take to Christiana in 7 minutes or Kongens Nytorv in 8 which get you near where most of the tourist sites are. Several bus lines also stop here including the 250S which you can take to Tivoli. There's not much around the hotel though that you can walk to. Hotel: It's a hell of a building, that's for sure. Certainly one of the most unique looking structures I've stayed at, and also the largest hotel in Scandanavia! There's a small bar in the lobby as well as two restaurants on the second floor, one of which serves breakfasts only to Marriott elites. The top floor (23rd) has the Skybar which is worth visiting for a drink. The hotel is very new and feels bright, airy and spacious in all the common areas. Check In: Handled very efficiently by an agent who told me I'd been "upgraded" to a deluxe room and asked if I wanted to be charged in DKK or USD which was nice. They also let me check in at 1:30 which I appreciated. All the staff here were friendly and helpful. Room: Pretty odd layout, felt very modern art-y in the sense that it was minimalist in its design. I found towels in a drawer, you pressed panels on one wall to get to the safe and the mini bar and the bathroom is tiny. I will say that it's one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. Weirdly, there was no shampoo or conditioner or bath gel left for me but when I called down to get some, a housekeeper was at my door in two minutes. Wifi went down one night but other than that worked fine. Do note that "deluxe" room apparently means corner room, I don't think it's much bigger than a normal room. Stray Observations: No free breakfast for Golds, it costs 180 DKK (about $27 USD), I passed. They do have an airport shuttle which runs every half hour from 6 am to 11 PM and costs 15 DKK (about $2 USD) which was a hell of a deal. I took them up on that and was really happy with it. Overall, a very good hotel and while I had to schelp a little to get to some off the sights, I'm glad I stayed here.
"An overpriced hotel for a captive audience"
AC Hotel Bella Sky is a Marriott-managed hotel adjacent to the Bella Convention Center. Since the convention center is outside central Copenhagen, and there are no other hotels in the vicinity, this is the best location for conventioneers. The hotel is a funky-looking somewhat twisted tower, which looks attractive from afar. Close-up, it is a modern, light, airy building, with lots of steel and glass. The large and spacious lobby includes the reception, a lounge and bar area, as well as a cafeteria-type restaurant towards the back. Elevators are fast. Rooms are Spartan, at best. Straight lines, white walls, no decoration. A large window (cannot be opened) at an angle, allows you to have a great view of the world below. Don't get close to it if you are afraid of heights! The beds are narrow, not very comfortable, with small, soft, horrible pillows. There is a minimalist desk and chair in the room as well as a closet and wall-mounted TV. The bathroom is similarly Spartan, with a sink, shower and toilet. No amenities. The restaurants are average. They do a better job at breakfast, with a traditional Scandinavian breakfast spread. Lunch and dinner are barely average: the food is bland, heavy, and while it comes in generous portions, it doesn't live up to Marriott standards. Because Copenhagen was totally sold-out the day we arrived, we were charged >$550/night for this below average hotel room. That is highway robbery!
"Poor customer service"
While the hotel itself has a modern appeal, the customer service is awful. I missed my reservation due to a delayed flight that was out of my control which also caused me to miss the cancellation window to get the full refund. However, even after explaining my situation, the hotel had absolutely no sympathy and offered no refund. I'm not saying that that isn't fair, but even a partial refund should've been issued, especially when missing the reservation was out of my hands. Not to mention the fact that the airport shuttle is not free, but instead there is a charge which is not listed on their website. Lastly, they move as slow as molasses. I left my bag in the bag storage while I ran up to my room and when I went to retrieve my bag it took nearly 5 minutes and two people to get my luggage which was staring me dead in face and they truly just did not seem to care. Having a pretty hotel is one thing, but customer service is a huge factor and they COMPLETELY drop the ball on that front. I would not recommend.
"Excellent hotel near airport"
Part of the Marriott family with 21st century style. Clean large modern rooms with fabulous windows. Great amenities. Very conveniently located near Metro. Would stay again. Sky Bar with great views. Huge bathroom. Friendly staff who recommended great restaurant in Copenhagen
"Beautiful looking hotel with good transport links"
Modern looking structure which definitely stands out from others in its proximity and a big plus is that you get great views of Copenhagen from the top floor and tower bridge. Stayed as family of 5 so booked connecting room for children and rooms were clean and tidy with all the mod-cons of a top hotel. Had read reviews about breakfast being good and it didn't disappoint with a wide range of whatever you would expect and more. Parking was great, especially if you have a bigger 4x4 or LWB car as its out to the front of the hotel and was free, not sure if it was meant to be though, not complaining. Location wise, the hotel is about 3 miles from the City Centre however the train station is right behind the hotel, so getting around is pretty easy.
