"Marriot' I don't think so."
First, I want to say that we are Gold Members of Marriott's Hotels, so we've spent a lot of nights in different Marriotts around the world and that's why we choose this Hotel. We arrive at the evening and there's no one to help us with our bags and no valet parking either. As Gold members, we have breakfast included in all Marriotts, not here. When my husband ask why, they said is because they are "by Marriott", and not "Marriott" at all. This is very confusing to us and we think that Marriott should not put their name in hotels like this one, because, they are definitely not Marriott exceptional quality.
"Away from the maddening crowd"
For those unfamiliar with AC hotels they are a Spanish chain bought by Marriott. They are modern, efficient, and reasonable priced. No frills, yet decor and amenities that are above this level hotel. August is a miserable time to be in Florence - hot and crowded. The first thing noticed is the air conditioning works exceptionally well. Front desk staff are friendly and inviting. Rooms are very well appointed with great wifi, plenty of outlets, clean, simple, modern. Restaurant is breakfast buffet with strong healthy options. This is a bit off the beaten path - perhaps a ten minute walk from the ground zero tourist sites, yet for me that was also its traction. Away from the maddening crowd. A simple hotel that is a keeper.
"Satifactory, Modern, clean and comfortable but nothing great about it,"
I stayed in this hotel on business for five nights whilst attending a training course. The room cost was reasonable at around 120 euros including taxes. The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk from the historic city centre and a 25 euro taxi ride from the airport. The reception staff were helpful and friendly, but be aware that you can often queue up in the morning when they are busy, best to settle the bill the night before you leave. The rooms were fairly small but clean and modern, there was no view to speak of. There was a large double bed, a desk, bed side tables and no room for anything else. Storage space was adequate for one person for a week. The bed was comfortable. There was a minibar and a free safe. Wi-Fi is free for Marriot members and was good. The bathroom was clean and modern with a very good shower. Breakfast is included in the room rate, there is a fair selection of food including hot food. I had room service once but wasn’t really impressed. The is a small bar and lounge area adjacent to reception, There is s gym in the basement which I did not use. Overall a satisfactory hotel, a good base for business or sightseeing, but more of a base and place to sleep than a hotel you would want to spend some time in. Nothing wrong with it but nothing great either.
"Very comfortable and very friendly"
This is not a hotel for a room with a view of beautiful Florence but very comfortable, smells and feels brand new, best location and best place to rest after exploring the city! The front desk was ultra helpful in helping us with reservations for the various tours and tips on main attractions.
Nice, modern and clean with helpful staff. This a typical euro-modern hotel with comfortable rooms. It is a 15 minute walk to the city center. A cab ride to the center is €10-15, but considering the low cost of the rooms it was a bargain. The helpful staff were a plus. The staff directed us to several outstanding restaurants and even provided advice on what to order! Only downside was noisy guests. A plus if you have a car is you can park on the street for free and you are away from the restricted city center.
