Just spent 4 days at this exceptional hotel. Firstly the service is top-notch, every single person we came into contact with exceeded expectations and that is a big deal for us. Then location, directly across from Retiro and walking distance to everything, from the Prado to Calle Serrano. Also a short ride to the Atocha train station. We had a lovely room on the second part of our stay but the first room was very good as well. As traditional as the hotel is the rooms are ultra modern and well kept. The bathrooms were lovely. If you love small boutique hotels with amazing service then this is the place for you.
"Classy destination hotel"
We stayed at this beautiful hotel that is conveniently located next to Retiro Park this month. The hotel is an elegant balance between modern and old, and the rooms have the original crown molding on the ceilings combined with all the luxuries of a modern hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and made our stay very enjoyable.
"location, location, location!"
Great staff, fantastic location, clean, absolutely beautiful Hotel! Doesn't hurt that we were upgraded to a suite! It pays to be Marriott/Starwood frequent guests!!! Be loyal its Royal! Stay in the Palacio! Decadent!
"Wonderful Vacation Stay"
Please read my profile for my biases. Note: I rarely give a rating of five. Madrid was our last stop on a two week vacation in Spain, and we spent four nights here. It was wonderful. The hotel is right next to the large Parque del Retiro which you can think of as the Central Park of Madrid. It is also right next to the museum district. We ended up buying tourist transit cards which allowed us to get around on the trains and buses, and so we were never more than about a 15 minute ride from most of the attractions. The hotel is very nice and quiet. We were given a "boutique" room which worked fine for us but may not be the best choice for the more modest, as the bath is pretty much part of the room, separated only by a glass partition (see pics). The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with a small sitting area as well as a large desk if you needed to work. As a Platinum Elite member with Marriott, we were given a free breakfast. While it didn't include the buffet, you would choose at the table your choice for the meal. We always got the fruit plate, which was generous and tasty, but also came with a selection of pastries as well as coffee/tea. It was a great way to start the day. We ate in the restaurant on our last night there, and the food was excellent. The only complaint I have about the stay was the Manhattan I ordered on that last night. I was a brought a drink that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike a Manhattan. I think it was more a dry Rob Roy, made with a light whiskey and dry vermouth instead of the usual bourbon and sweet vermouth. They didn't charge me for it and my wife's cocktail was fine. When I return to Madrid I won't hesitate to book this hotel.
"Great Location! Nice Staffa!"
Fabulous small quiet hotel. Centrally located near Retiro Park, close to museums and a short walk to transportation. Food service was wonderful and the staff was friendly and helpful. Loved the atmosphere.
