"Great place to stay with a group"
I traveled with a group of students to see the D-day Memorial and beaches. This hotel is centrally located and convenient to the train station, mall and restaurants. The hotel has a variety of rooms for 2 to 4 people and they are rather spacious. Each room has a kitchenette that has a refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, stove and a microwave. The bathroom is also a typical European bathroom with a separate room for the toilet. The sink and the shower are in their own room. This is helpful when multiple people are trying to get ready in the morning or evening. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable and there was a TV and plugs for charging computers and phones. Our stay included breakfast which had a lot of offerings including fruit, eggs, bacon, yogurt, pancakes, and an assortment of breads and chocolate croissants. There was coffee, tea, juice, milk and a juicer you could use to get fresh squeezed orange juice. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The staff was friendly and professional and it was in a great location.
"Stayed while visiting WW2 sites."
We had a one bedroom "apt." . Beds were comfy, pull out couch is comfy as well. Breakfast is good, OJ fresh squeezed, bread fresh, scrambled eggs are kept in a warmer. You can "boil" your own eggs, I tried several times to get a soft boiled egg with no success. The gizmo they provide does not have boiling water in it. It is hot water. If you are Dutch they no longer have BVN TV on the cable. They do have several English language stations. The internet was a little slow in the evenings. They front desk were generally polite. I think it would be a good idea if they provided free coffee all day for all the guests. It would not cost them a lot, and would be a nice touch. Most American Suite hotels such as Homewood Suites , Hampton Inn's, provide this. They could also have a better detailed map of the city of Caen. Many new guests like us are unfamiliar with the city.
"Our least favorite hotel of the 4 that we stayed in, but it may be perfect for you"
We got to this hotel late due to our unplanned stop in Giverny. There was parking on the street although it was one way and required a little extra time to pass it, go over the bridge to get to the one way street. It lacked charm, but it was convenient. The rooms were functional and clean. It did not feel like a European Hotel which is probably what we did not like about it. Also, a large tour arrived that overwhelmed the place, backing up the elevators as well as the breakfast area in the AM. Speaking of breakfast, they really did a good job and it was part of the room price. The room was fairly priced and offered a tremendous value. If you want a functional, reasonably priced hotel with a great breakfast, this hotel may be perfect for you.
"Good but not great"
A seven night stay in Caen at Adagio was problem free generally but not overawed with the hotel. Check in was professional and overall the staff were helpful and friendly. Room itself or Apartment was clean and functional but bed was Rock hard and had to spend the first couple of days airing out a strange mouldy smell that seemed to emulate from the kitchen. Mould in the cups and glasses one later surmised. Apart from the odour all else was fine. Loved the view of the Orne River particularly at dawn. Would certainly stay again though.
"Don't think twice. Have a sejour in Adagio paradise "
This was my tweets visit to this lovely hotel. The staff are always so welcoming and in the rare event of a problem staff are always quickly available to rectify the situation. Rooms are a good size and the kitchen allows flexibility for eating. Plenty of variety and quality restaurants locally if needed. The beds are so comfortable that I'm looking to buy similar for my home in England ! It is situated within easy walking distance of the station and two minutes walk from a supermarket. The new shopping mall Rive D'Orne is five minutes walk away and main high street fifteen minutes walk away. The beautiful prairie is two minutes stroll away and can be used alongside the superb hotel gym to keep fit. I have known Caen for twenty years and this has by far the best facilities and best value for money.
