My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the hotel. We had a studio which was really nice with lots of storage space and a functional kitchenette. It was centrally located with lots of shops, groceries and restaurants around. Breakfast was great with fruits, pastries, juice and a yummy gallette des rois. The girl in the breakfast area was kind and friendly. Check in and check out was fast.
"Excellent location for visiting the Xmas Markets"
Located on an island closed to vehicular traffic, so no taxis between 11a and 9p (Xmas Mkt hrs) - so we walked from the Lufthasa Express bus stop next to the train station. It was an easy 20 minute walk (we are 70+ seniors with roll aboard luggage) including a 5 minute delay at the canal bridge for a security inspection of our bags - the line was short and the inspection quite cursory. Finding the hotel was easy using Google map landmarks, e.g., turn right at McDonald's, or go a block and 1/2 past the Foot Locker store. The hotel is in a large building on the north side of Place Kebler, a large empty square about the size of a football field. In addition to the hotel the building houses many upscale shops and the local Apple Store (which came in handy as they fixed a problem with my iPod Touch). Our corner street-side room (105) was fine for us but would not be for people bothered by street noise (trams and midnite revelers) - we also had occasional loud mechanical type noises in the middle of the nite but were able to quickly get back to sleep. Our room had a comfortable queen sized bed and the bathroom with separate toilet was very clean. The little kitchenette came in handy as we ate in a couple times (the Simply Mkt is just around the corner past the McDonald's and besides all the regular grocery items had caviar and truffles as specials). Check in/out was efficient and the front desk staff were very nice and helpful. 5 to10 minute walks to the Opera House and the Cathedral and Museums (Rohan Palace) bring you to most of the Xmas Mkt stalls where it 's easy to just wander around for hrs looking, tasting and drinking a little hot mulled wine, or gluhwein (German) or vin chaud (French). It's especially festive at nite with all the beautiful lighted displays. Our fave might have been the window displays at the Galeries Lafayette department store. We were surprised at the number of police (blue uniforms) and military (dressed in camouflage fatigues) seemingly everywhere you looked patrolling in groups of 3 to 6 with at least one in each group bearing some type of automatic weapon front and center. We felt totally safe walking around day or night and a group of young policemen, pooled their English skills, to point us in the right direction after we got turned around following a wonderful dinner at La Corde a Linge near the south end of the island.
"Great apartment hotel in Strasbourg"
We stayed here for two nights with my son's family while visiting the Christmas markets in Strasbourg. The hotel is on the island, in the old town and on a main pedestrian only street, one of the primary shopping streets of the city, with a tram running down the street. Despite the tram our spacious room on the street side was quiet. The room (ours was 206) was also quite large, with a sitting room and small, equipped kitchen in addition to a bedroom, separate adequate bathroom and toilet room. There was plenty of room to move around. The hotel's location is perfect, no more than a 5 minute walk from anywhere on the island, and the tram from the train station stops about 50 meters from the hotel. Breakfast is not huge but is well done and had good variety. All in all, a great base to explore Strasbourg and vicinity.
"Nice aparthotel on a superb location"
This aparthotel is situated in the ‘heart’ of Strassbourg centre. The location is superb and every morning we walked to the bakery to buy ‘fresh’ bread and croissants:-) The hotel is situated in an old building with high ceilings. If you have the time, take the stairs ….very nice and much quicker ... then waiting for the elevator (they only have one). The staff at the reception was very helpful, and with your room card you could enter the building at all times. The reception was staffed 24 hours. The apartment (living room and separate bedroom) was spacious. The kitchenette was fine, but the electric stove had only two burners. As the temperature in the beginning of September was quite warm, we were glad that the airco worked well. If you would like to have cleaned your room or change towels, it is not included in the price per night. It is a service for which you need to pay additionally. Overall, this aparthotel is a nice place to stay.
Adagio Strasbourg Place Kleber is in a good location, only about a 10 minute walk from La Petite France. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean, spacious, quiet and well equipped. Our only issue really was with the parking. We arranged for discounted parking in the Indigo public underground parking right by the Adagio. The receptionist told us when leaving the carpark to insert our ticket, then the ticket that she have us. This would then give us the discounted rate. The machine just would not accept the two tickets . It was not a good experience as other cars were behind us waiting to exit and we were trying to get the machine to accept both tickets for the discounted rate. In the end we had to pay the full rate just so we could actually exit the car park. Also, note to other travellers, the parking spaces are very narrow, nothing like we are used to in Australia!
