"Excellent location with a few quirks"
The hotel is perfectly situated to enjoy the bars and restaurants of Bree, Loop, Long and Kloof Streets. The property itself is beautiful but it does have a few quirks. The entrance is on a side street, but that's not a real problem. The rooms are quite large but some of the layouts are odd; we really enjoyed a corner room for our first stay but the "pod" rooms had a lot of wasted space. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the bar was never full (actually never more than a few people) and wasn't very lively. Finally, a bar at the pool would have been nice but room service took care of that. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this above other large hotel chains.
"No where near 5 stars!!!"
From the moment we arrived we knew we where in for a horrid time... No valet service, park your own car and take a side entrance that looks like the scene of a construction site into the hotel, no one offers to take your bags, get to reception and our room wasn't ready at 4pm!!! 20 minutes later we where then moved to another room, and when we got there our cards weren't working, so we tried a couple of times and then someone opens the door from the inside... the room was occupied by other guests!!!! Back down to reception and another 10 minutes later we are given another room, 2 floors lower (when our only request was a good view), luckily the room was vacant this time! The decor of the rooms look like it's a scene out of a bad 70's movie, couple with the most unflattering and insanely bright lights all over the room! The ceiling was littered with smoke alarms ADSL routers, speakers and fire sprinklers. No mirror anywhere near the hairdryer. And terrible quality/reception on the TV. Then we attempt to go out for the evening and discover that we have to pay R65 parking even if we are guests in the Hotel!!! The parking booms weren't working, 10 minutes later we finally are able to leave the parking facility. I don't know who was given the contract for designing and decorating this hotel, but they are surely out of business now!!! Absolutely no 5 star experience - no bottle of mineral water in the room, a pubic hair neatly sat in the toilet seat when we arrived, no offer to take your luggage or park your car, dirty wallpaper, what an absolute disappointment. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is for the note that was next to our bed stating that there are severe water restrictions in the western cape and guests mists use water sparingly - showing good CSR initiative. But everything else was ridiculous.
"Magnificent----THE Place in Cape Town"
First---- I would give this SIX stars if I could. If you are in Cape Town on business---look no further---you must stay here. If you are on Holiday----this location is perfect as well, with quick access to Beaches, Table Mountain, The Waterfront, and Kloof street. The modern décor, the spacious rooms, the magnificent views make this truly an upscale experience. The views of Table Mountain and Lions head from the roof top pool and spa are breath taking. BUT--- what makes a great property is the STAFF. Tiaan Fourie, the manger whom I had most of my dealing with--- is one of the brightest young talents in the Hotel industry today. I have stayed at HUNDREDS of properties around the world and have rarely seen such professionalism and customer focus in any manger. Asheena Pillay, the asst GM, also is in that category. Because of their leadership--the staff is SUPERB ! Front desk---excellent. Jerome-leads the way at the bell staff. Anwar at the bar is a great mixologist. I could name many more-- this was my HOME for five days and the staff made the difference. Bravo--well done. The rooms were exceptionally large and the bathrooms were beyond expectations---modern and spacious--unlike most European bathrooms which are just small closets. I WILL be back. I look forward using this location to conduct my business and bring my family to truly enjoy Cape town. A most beautiful and upscale Hotel in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. You will be enchanted with this property.
"African Pride 15 On Orange"
Just spent a long weekend at this hotel. It was part of a cruise and stay so don't know the cost but we were very impressed with everything. We had a suite of rooms. Great lounge for watching TV. Very large bathroom with immaculate facilities and an impressive wet room. The bedroom had an extra large bed, so comfy I was reluctant to get out of it. I often have trouble sleeping away from home but not on this occasion. The décor of the hotel was very modern and appealing and the customer service we received was second to none. All the staff were friendly and helpful but I must mention Faseeg, who went out of his way to help when we had a transport problem to the airport. He took all the stress away. The hotel is nearer to Table Mountain than to the Waterfront but there is a hop on hop off bus which stops outside which will take you to both places. Taxis are quite cheap to the waterfront also. Alongside the hotel is The Company Park where there is a very nice café. Some of the museums are close at hand. I thoroughly recommend this hotel
"Modern and Bright"
This is a very good Marriott hotel. Location is at the end of long street and a bit away from the V&A but you do have Table Mountain to gaze at from the pool or your window. The furniture is a bit out there but the common areas are bright colourful and relaxing. Would have got an excellent but the staff did not seem to be well trained and informed. There were lots of staff and they were pleasant. Think the management need to spend more time showing them what good looks like.
