"Checked In for the World Conference"
I booked in African Pride because it was one of the hotels recommended by the organizer of the conference I attended. For me, it's accessible to basic necessity because it is connected to Canal Walk via bridge. I want to talk about 3 things I considered during my 7 days stay. First, the room, it's cozy inside. The pink line light in the ceiling adds up to the beauty of the room. I love the bed, it's wide and with 4 pillows exactly with the number of pillows I want to have when I sleep. It was well maintained by the housekeeping personnel. There's a bathtub, although I wasn't able to use it because most of the time, I was out. Second is the buffet breakfast, I just noticed that they serve the same food every day. They could have add new menus per day not necessarily change all menus everyday. It was full packed, there were days when they couldn't accommodate people just what like happens on the week of our conference. Third was the personnel in the help desk. I requested for a metered taxi and waited. Despite they were suggesting a private car I chose to experience riding a cab but when she agreed and the metered taxi arrived. As the taxi driver brought me to the place where I was going, he charged me with the same amount of a private car. When I explained to the driver that the reason I asked for a metered taxi aside from to experience it was to wisely spend the amount into tours. Unfortunately, the driver insisted and as a first time visitor I didn't argue with the driver. Si when I came back to the hotel, I talked to the personnel, if I'd remember exactly, her name is "Sandy" she said she's call the taxi driver but when I followed her up she mentioned the the driver was unreachable. The situation was quite questionable. So I checked out and left the hotel still thinking why that personnel was like that. Although not all of them have something to question. The manager in the front desk was very accommodating and understanding. Until now, I still have clarification in terms of my booking with them.
"No room housekeeping or room cleaning service"
So we stayed at the African Pride Crystal Towers for the umpteenth time - we have always had a wonderful experience at this hotel. But this past weekend, our room was not cleaned and serviced and there was a total absence of housekeeping - we returned to our room after dinner on the Saturday evening to find our room as we had left it earlier that day - uncleaned, unserviced. And this is a 5 star hotel' I dont think so. We could have stayed at the Road Lodge and received better room cleaning/housekeeping services. And then to make matters worse, we complained to reception on Saturday evening and late that evening (after 9.30pm) housekeeping wanted to come and clean our room - they called, twice, and actually woke us up. Unacceptable and what I would expect from an amateur guest house establishment. As such, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are happy to have a room for a weekend that is not serviced or cleaned and no housekeeping. Make sure you take your own cleaning materials and your own coffee, tea and milk. Not acceptable for a hotel of this stature - does this have anything to do with the Marriott take over of the hotel and falling standards…'
Excellent sevice, great stay overall. Went for one night with my wife for my birthday. Were personally welcomed and congratulated by manager - nice touch! Spa is really great so is the pool bar. Restaurant's food is excellent albeit a but pricey. I can definitely recommend it.
"Great Hotel, Nice Location"
I enjoyed my stay at the Crystal Towers Hotel in Cape Town. The staff was very friendly, and the location was great. The rooms need some help, but they are clean and convenient. I was surprized the hotel pool wasn't heated and there was no jaccuzzi or hot tub available. Other than that great comfortable stay. I recommend it.
"Friend's Birthday Dinner Party"
A very beautiful modern setting, opulent and luxurious hotel with very friendly and professional staff. The poolside bar area and terrace with the gazebo made for a very nice & surprisingly intimate venue .
