"Needs to improve greatly, tired, dated apartment"
We have just returned from a week, we banked one of our Marriott weeks to stay there. Apartment spacious, double aspect. However bathrooms are dated - don't expect shower curtains these days which had seen better days. The floor flooded when using the shower so we used several towels to mop up the water. Welcome pack was really ridiculous, a few tea bags, two biscuits, a tube of washing up detergent, not even a dishwasher tablet. The kitchen was also dated, crockery circa 1980. There was even a fixed kitchen towel holder, but no kitchen towel. We were clearly expected to buy the most basic items ourselves. WiFi, not free, and you have to purchase for each device. WiFi comes as standard at most places these days so that was such a rip off. Also we paid €38 for a weeks electricity! On day 3 we heard lots of building work and the sound was so loud in our apartment. Found out it was builders in the apartment below. We rang reception, asked this to stop. Well, it quietened down for the rest of that day. Started again for the rest of the holiday. We would be out and come back to noisy building work. It seemed like they just hoped we would be out for them to continue. Do not think they cared; we should not have been put in a block if they knew they needed to do building work. Apartment cleaned twice in our stay. Friendly cleaner. TV did not work, only two channels had good reception. They sent someone to fix it and he didn't seem too bothered, just held his hands up. We didn't go there for the TV! But on rainy days and after coming back in the evening, good reception would be nice! Had happy hour in the bar several nights. But only 2 cocktails included in this, sangria and an alcohol free cocktail. We visited several restaurants nearby, and drinks there were better quality and cheaper. Not many people staying at the hotel when we were there. Bar empty most nights. Did not eat in the restaurant. Not appealing if there are no clients! We would not return, we have been spoilt by owning at Marriott.
"Great value, poor wifi"
This is more of an apartment hotel with kitchen and dining room but the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable although we were there during the off-season. The only downside was that they only offer one access code for one device and the connection was horrible with multiple cut-outs. In this day and age, free and fast wifi is as ubiquitous as water and electricity. Great value for money.
"Great holiday, lovely room, great location, fantastic staff."
We have just (3 hours ago!) returned from a very relaxing 2 weeks at Alanda Club having exchanged 2 Marriott Vacation Club weeks through Interval International. Apart from a couple of cloudy days with isolated rain (but we can't blame Alanda Club for those) everything was really very good and we simply do not recognise the poor levels of service that have been observed by some other reviewers. Prior to our visit I had (i) booked transfers from Malaga airport and (ii) e-mailed to request, if possible, a quiet apartment with a balcony where we could enjoy an evening aperitif in the late sun. Taxi was waiting for us on arrival on the early morning flight from Manchester and by noon we were at Alanda Club. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our apartment was already available even at this time so things were looking ok. Check-in was fine and we were shown to the apartment (Pamplona 86) which was very well equipped - it looked as though the bathroom and kitchen had recently been refurbished - spotlessly clean and with a small-ish balcony which ....faced the afternoon sun! Thanks Alanda Club! The main part of the complex is a group of 4/5 storey buildings facing the outdoor pools - the buildings are named after various Spanish towns (hence Pamplona) and were on the top floor. The complex grounds themselves are well maintained. We took advantage of the 7 day breakfast option and the buffet offerings were fine - plenty of choice to keep us going though most of the day. We ate out most evenings so we can't comment on the quality of meals served in the restaurant although we did use the evening take-away service on 2 occasions; the take-away choice is limited but is available until 10pm and suited us when were late back from excursions. Unfortunately not all staff wore name badges so we can't give specific credit to all relevant members of staff but thanks go to Natalia, Luis (aka Maky) and the lady with the magnetic glasses (!!!) in the bar/breakfast buffet and Abdel at check-in. Apologies to those members of staff not mentioned by name but we want to stress that everyone was polite and always helpful. Our apartment was cleaned/serviced 3 times a week and. apart from a couple of malfunctions with key cards we encountered no problems. Cleaning was carried to a very satisfactory standard. On arrival our apartment had a small "welcome pack" which included, amongst other items, 1 dishwasher tablet and a small sachet of washing-up liquid. Note to management - it might be helpful to include details of the contents of the welcome pack on the website - we had read comments from other reviewers about dishwasher tablets (allegedly) being available for €1 at reception, so we took a few of our own - problem solved. Other essentials are available from the "Supercor" just over the motorway bridge where we bought more washing-up liquid and kitchen towel etc. One real plus for us was the location of Alanda Club - we weren't bothered about being near the centre of Marbella/Puerto Banus but we did want somewhere near to a good choice of local restaurants. Figures are very approximate but we think you could probably 4 weeks at AC and find a different restaurant each night within walking distance - either towards the beach or over the motorway. Our favourite was "Elviria" but there's plenty of choice from Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Italian, Steakhouse style eating places. Marbella and Fuengirola are easily reached by the bus which runs every 30 minutes with stops on the A7 just opposite AC. I note that some other reviewers have bemoaned the distance from buzzing night-life activities - I suggest that a little research will confirm whether the location of Alanda Club is or is not suitable to your own needs. We booked a couple of excursions through reception during our stay and, although obviously not the responsibility of AC here are a few observations if anyone is considering similar booking: 1. Sevilla. This is a LONG day which resulted in only 4 1/2 hours in the city itself. We were picked up at 6.45 am and, via 1 change of bus, other hotel pick-ups and a 30 minute comfort break actually meant that we arrived in Sevilla at 11.30. A couple of guided visits to Plaza de Espana and the Cathedral, lunch and a disappointing boat trip along the Guadalquivir, then departure from Sevilla at 4.10 which meant that we arrived back at Alanda Club around 8.30pm. Not highly recommended! 2. Tangiers. Not quite as long a day. Pick-up from AC at 7.30 - this time we were one of the last pick-ups, so consequently earlier drop-off. Boat from Tarifa took around 60 minutes. Our local guide Said was quite a character and he spoke with genuine enthusiasm about Tangiers and Morocco but ... everywhere we went seemed to be something of a staged occasion to get money from the group. Picture of a camel €2, €5 for the musicians and lunch - ok-ish. But during our visit to the market area we were followed by a group of around 10 folks selling (with limited success) little camels, various hats (anyone want a Fez'), bracelets, fridge magnets etc..... This eventually became very tiresome and finally, very annoying. Other members of the group more experienced in N African customs said these were by far the worst excesses of pressure-selling they had ever encountered. Not forgetting the visit to the carpet warehouse (more attempts at pressure selling) and the herbal medicine place - though we did actually buy a couple of items here! Overall we had a fantastic 2 weeks - apart from the rainy bits weather was pretty good and we managed to find some shelter from the breeze by the pool. Nearly forgot the wifi! You get free access for 1 device at a fairly low connection speed and you can pay €30 for 2 weeks for 1 device at a higher speed. You could argue that wifi in 2016 should be free but €30 for 2 weeks didn't seem exorbitant and the free/paid combination suited our fairly basic internet access needs. We would happily return. Thank-you Alanda Club. Adrian and Helen.
"Average at most"
Old hotel in an location next to the main road of the Costa, very noisy. Service OK and Housekeeping very poor. Reservation agent was very inflexible and rude at the telephone as I had some timetable issues. Not booking here again and will not recommend it.
"holiday with small children"
Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Spacious apartment with all necessary utensils and equipment. Jacuzzi a positive surprise. Outside pools not heated, inside pool heated with extra chlorine. With a car, ideal location. Close to beach.
