"Very nice small boutique hotel. Excellent food"
Nice quiet location. Friendly staff. Excellent food - we ate dinner three times and always imaginative dishes and fresh bread. The pool is small ( but warm) and you have to duck underwater to swim a length as it is both inside and outside - a feature more useful in winter. There is a walk to the lakeside but there isn't much to do when you get there except look and walk back. Small ( 20 rooms) and a 30 minute drive from the centre of Bariloche. Very close to puerta panuelo which is the starting point for the wonderful cruise across the Andes to Puerto varas in Chile.
we went to visit this quite city, and we wanted to sleep in a good hotel with good service, and we found this hotel, it was wonderful. Great views, great spa, people who work here very educated, is a very romantic place to go with your partner
Because of the fantastic nice staff and owners, because of the hotel location, because of feeling welcome , this hotel deserves a 5 stars rating by me. Situated at the lake it offers you great views and a perfect night rest in a good room. OK..... the hotel is a little aged but it is super clean and tell me what do you prefer , a little aged home or a brand new building '
"A place of beauty & solitude"
This was the perfect place for me at the time. I needed some rest and time for reflection & the beauty of nature was magnificently presented to me from my room. For some people the service might not be first class, however because there are only 10 rooms at this boutique hotel there is a limited amount of staff ... but I liked that...it was very personal & as a solo traveler being on the road since last November the service was that of caring people who did their best to ensure I was happy. I honestly did not want to leave I felt very rested here & at peace. Thank you for caring.
"Absolutely beautiful hotel but not a great experience"
First the positives. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with amazing views very comfortable rooms and common areas. It is set in a very quiet area near to some really spectacular hikes. It has a nice spa and a very pretty platform down at their gorgeous lake front to swim from. The bed was very comfortable and the design of the hotel is beautiful throughout. Negatives: Customer service was terrible. Sadly we had a number of bad experiences with the staff. On arrival we were informed that the pool was not working. This was a big disappointment as we had paid extra to find a hotel that was comfortable and had a pool to unwind at the end of a hiking holiday. Secondly the room had a big wine stain on the head board and did not have a lake view which we had requested on our booking. The lady at the desk was very unapologetic at the desk when we complained. Her response on the pool issue was that it was just a momentary issue. She didn't seem too worried that the issue coincided with the "moment" or 4 days we chose to stay there. To her credit though we were offered a superior room at a discount as we were one of the only guests staying at the hotel. We had also unknowingly booked a room without a view which was our own fault. The worst part of the stay however and the reason for the two star review was our experience in the hotel restaurant on the last night was one of the worst experiences in a restaurant in my life. We chose to dine in the restaurant on the last night as a special treat as it was more expensive as other local options. I ordered a pasta dish with capers and olives. It was incredibly salty. As I was tired and hungry and didn't want to make a fuss I tried to eat a bit however it was inedible and got my girlfriend to taste it. She confirmed it was disgusting and complained to the waitress who was completely unapologetic and uninterested. She didn't even ask if I wanted something else or offer any redress. Accordingly my partner ironically asked if there was something they could do to at least make the sauce less salty. The waitress' indignant response was to bring the dish back to the chef who washed the sauce off the pasta and returned a plate of bare pasta and olives to me. I couldn't believe it. I worked as a waiter for years and have never encountered a chef that would such crap to a customer. To make matters worse she noticed that the lady on the only other table in the restaurant hadn't touched the same pasta dish she had ordered. She asked her if she didn't like it and the customer confirmed that it was too salty. The waitress asked her in front of me if she wanted something a desert or something else to make up for it. We had had enough so decided to leave on an empty stomach what was a really disappointing yet quite expensive meal. Accordingly as we left we we asked the waitress if we would be charged for the slop that was served up to me and she said she didn't know maybe. Still nothing resembling an apology. Sure enough when we checked out the next day the meal was on our bill. We were livid and refused to pay for it and left disappointed. Some other observations. It was winter yet the big open fire in the main hall wasn't lit once. We weren't given any info on the hotel and what was on offer. We more or less had to discover for ourselves. It is quite isolated so you need a car. The hotel was very quiet when we stayed so the customer service may be better during busy periods. To conclude not all staff were aloof and rude and the hotel is beautiful however some of the staff and in particular our experience in the restaurant spoiled what could have otherwise been a really enjoyable stay.
