"offered upgrade at check in"
Didn't start well as I booked this hotel nearly 9 month before arrival and I made a mistake by clicking the non refundable price-realising my mistake I noticed both the hotel and the booking.com site but they informed me that the hotel insists as a firm booking and if I cancel I loose the money which was around 1300 dollars for the 2 nights. After a dubious start I was pleasantly surprised that upon arrival knowing the situation they upgraded us from a junior suite to the top suit which was a very nice gesture indeed. The hotel is a bit off the city in an office street but only one block from Lake Zurich. It's a boutique hotel so were not too much crowd around, huge rooms and bathroom and a lounge with rollaway bed.Breakfast was very good the eggs benedict super. The restaurant is a bit pricey but everything and everywhere is expensive in Swiss country.Unfortunately there was huge construction works going on front of the hotel and neighbouring street which started at 7 am in the morning so if you are a late riser it could have been a bummer. The close proximity to the lake from where you can take a long cruise and the old town gives good marks but if you are after a view you will be disappointed as this hotel has none facing the offices on both sides. It's certainly different from the well known boring hotel chains and the suits are very spacious and the hospitality and warm welcome from the reception and other staff are excellent.I would recommend anyone to try it out.
"Excellent and memorable"
First impression in my room was that the décor was a little dated and it’s more grand than luxury. But soon we fell in love with it. It matches the city. The 1000 sq ft. ‘apartment’ felt very comfortable. Living room can hold a party for a dozen people, not that you will. Service was exceptional throughout, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an experience. Food was well prepared by the kitchen and the ambiance was ideal for me. They even have spa music playing. Very relaxing with great service and you don’t feel like you are in a city. 20 minutes’ walk to the old town that has all the restaurants and shopping you would need in Zurich while the hotel itself is away from all the noise and crowd. There is virtually no noise as you are away from the main street and the tourist area and it almost guarantee you a restful sleep. The service is downright personal and if the big intimidating business hotel isn’t your cup of tea, this is it! I will stay there again next time I stop by Zurich.
"Great Location and Amazing Rooms"
This hotel is situated about a 10-15 minute walk from great shopping, dining and old town. The rooms are REALLY SPACIOUS, and all mini bar items except alcohol are included in the rate. The toiletries are L'Occitane and the bathrooms are large and modern. The breakfast which is also included I is very good. All in all a fantastic value and gorgeous gem of a hotel in Zurich. I would definitely stay here again!
"The Staff is the Bonus Feature of this Excellent Hotel"
My husband and I have stayed at many fine hotels around the world. The Alden Luxury Suites Hotel is also a fine hotel - spacious suites, one and a half bathrooms, sizeable balconies, quality linens and suite amenities, an excellent restaurant, and convenient location to train station, trams, lake, shopping, and other restaurants. However, we felt that the most outstanding feature of this small, luxury hotel, most assuredly, was the gracious, cheerful, accommodating and fun staff! Whether by training, inherent nature, or orders from on high, every person we encountered during our stay was first class in the guest services department. They were lots of fun. They all new our names, our likes and our needs, our dislikes, and even seemed to anticipate our next request. The suite refrigerator was always stocked with our preferences, and room service was fast, delicious, and beautifully presented. I truly loved this hotel. The staff made it one of my favorites. Thank you to each of them for their unwavering smiles and services.
"The Alden is Wonderful in Every Way!"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alden/Zurich. Went with another couple and had suites next to each other on the 3rd floor. Every detail was attended to by all employees from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the housekeeping staff. Front desk learned it was our anniversary and we returned from dinner to a bottle of complimentary champagne, cake, and a splendid congratulations hand-written note. Never has that happened before. We highly recommended this property for your stay in one of the most beautiful and charming cities in the world - Zurich!
