"A review of two halves... Awful and amazing'"
Booked by work to stay in this hotel for two nights to attend a meeting at Excel. To give this place a balanced review is difficult. Here we go... Good points - Modern hotel, good rooms, good breakfast, excellent pool and gym and a short distance from Excel, O2 and London City airport. It's also on the DLR so 20minutes from London. Bad points - the check in process is appalling and has been noted in other reviews. This was booked by work on a corporate credit card and they wouldn't book me in unless I could show the card. Therefore they refunded the room and made me pay for it personally. Secondly they take £50 off your credit card (not a preauthorisation) and then refund it 2-4 days after you check out. What a bizarre set up. In summary if the above check in/booking process was the same as any other hotel I would have rated it excellent, conversely as a business or a corporate traveler go to the Hilton double tree!
"Great location for 02"
Spent an evening here with my daughter as we were going to a concert at the 02 great location we took the Emirates cable car there and back was super speedy . Hotel was lovely and clean comfy beds and very accommodating staff even allowing us a early check in so we could make a lunch on time . Think the £25 deposit is a little unnecessary though '' x
"Business trip gone wrong"
I would not recommend this hotel to any business traveller. Firstly I couldn't book on my company credit card, despite the fact they actually took the payment from the card (company card not in my name). Wouldn't do a CC authorisation form either. They then insisted on refunding the money from the CC that they originally said they couldn't and made us go through bank transfer. Also meant that we were unable to charge anything to our room without it being charged to our own personal accounts. Arrived and customer service at reception was beyond poor. Have rated this as average purely from the point of view that the rooms are nice and clean. Will not be staying here again or recommending it to anyone
"staying in April 2017"
hi i will be bringing my grandson for a night here in April 2017 , as taking him onto the O2 on the 18th, i choose your hotel because you had a pool and the breakfast was included in the price, not sure how we are going to get to the O2 and back so am hoping you will help us. So far there has been mixed reviews but i am hoping that they are all wrong
"Very poor service"
Despite the room having been prepaid for both nights, upon booking in I was asked for 50 pound deposit. This was apparently to cover the cost of food and drinks which may or may not be consumed/ not paid for. This was 'held' automatically at check in yet after checking out took 2 days for me to have access to.Not sure if this is hotel 'policy' but I was uncomfortable with and it wasn't optional according to the clerk.Perhaps the hotel should forewarn potential clients about this as I would not have stayed at the hotel if I knew this unnecessary charge would be required.A second incident happened at the hotel that evening whereby there was a side portion of chips accidentally placed on my plate with my steak.Presuming this was complimentary, I proceeded to garnish the chips only to be told by the manager that there would be a supplementary charge for these and that if I didn't pay for them they would be removed from my plate and thrown out, which they then were. The manager was rude, unapologetic and dismissive of my complaint. When informed that it was their mistake and not mine, her reply was "it's not a very big deal though, just some chips.yeah'".Absolutely appalling service.
