"Spacious, modern rooms, great location"
The title says it all, we came here as family of 5 and got 2 connecting rooms. They are modern and clean, the TV offers all Swiss, French, German and British channels. 2 restaurants in the hotel offer a good choice, otherwise you are close to many other options. Highly recommended!
"Perfect hotel for work"
I travelled to this hotel for work and stayed for 2 weeks and it was absolutely perfect. The staff are attentive and can help with anything you need. No problem is too big or small for them. I even left something behind when I checked out and they have shipped it back to my home address. Absolutely perfect. Huge rooms, most with 2 single beds but can be pushed together
"Outstanding central location"
When I visit a city for the first time and I need to rely on public transportation to get around, I spend a lot of time balancing my desire to be in an "interesting" part of the city and the availability and ease of use of public transit. Add to that an arrival by rail from the Geneva airport after a long flight, and you quickly home in on the Alpha-Palmiers. You also home in because of its quality, and that will be discussed. One cannot beat this hotel's location. It's a short (uphill!) walk from the main train station, Lausanne-Gare. For getting around town there are two metro rail lines. M1 runs east-west (nominally) and M2 runs north-south. The lines intersect at a stop (Lausanne Flon) less than 10 minutes by foot from the hotel. There is also a M2 stop across the street from Lausanne-Gare. If you don't want to do the uphill walk from Alpha-Palmiers to Flon, go a short way back down the hill and around the McDonalds, and into the small M2 station. It's one stop north to Flon. And is the hotel in an interesting part of the city' Most definitely yes. The walk up to the Flon Metro station takes you right into the heart of the city center. There are many squares/plazas with cafes and bars. There is an enormous gothic cathedral and a 1900s mansion, the Palais de Rumine, that contains a number of museums (e.g., geology, zoology, art, archeology). And lots of shopping. The hotel's proximity to the M2 station at Lausanne-Gare means makes it very simple to get down to the lake and its attractions (including the Olympic Museum). There is a very long promenade along the lake short; great for walking and jogging. The hotel is great. It's not luxurious, but it's modern and extremely well kept. The front desk staff are invariably friendly in person (somewhat brusque on the phone, though). The breakfast buffet is middling for a hotel of this quality. The items they do serve are excellent, but there isn't much variety, and it wasn't included in the room rate (22SF extra). If you can afford the differential, select a "garden view" room—it wasn't much more when I made the reservation. These rooms are larger, have floor-to-ceiling windows and face inward to a large, beautifully landscaped courtyard garden. The room is quiet, and the bird sounds were very relaxing. Shout out to the SBB: If you are going to travel by rail, whether between cities or within a city, consider downloading their mobile app (SBB Mobile). Schedules can be examined and tickets purchased. You can buy inter-city rail tickets ahead of time, and same-day passes for intra-city travel. The app works great. Tip to English speakers: Lausanne is in Switzerland, but don't assume that you'll always interact with multi-lingual locals. In fact, if you're a tourist, outside of wait staff and hotel front desk staff (and probably museum staff), very few people will speak English beyond a rudimentary level. This is a wonderful part of the travel experience, but be prepared.
"very quiet inthe middle of the city"
the are three hotel of the family chain Fassbinder in Lausanne and all a little different and personalized. hotel alfa has a wonderful patio with a loby, bar and divers restaurant especially with thai specialities. All the rooms a acclimatized and very quiet and of a certain size making the stay more comfortable. the breakfast buffet is fine but a little expensive. really the relation quality / price of this hotel is very good and last but note least just in front of the train station!
"Modern and Conveniently Situated"
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with some friends, the rooms are comfortable and definitely not outdated. The location is great, easy access to the Lausanne train station and Lausanne center with all the shopping (5 min walk). The staff are friendly and welcoming. The thai restaurant is really really good, I believe the chefs are Thai and they make great dishes. Personal favorite - noodles with chicken :)
