We stayed at Amerian Portal del Iguazu between 8th and 10th of March and we had a wonderful stay! Location on the three borders with a magnificent view of Brazilan and Paraguayan corners. Great pools (inside and outside) and wellness spa! Highly Recommended
"Clean, comfortable, convenient"
I spent two nights here during a very quick trip to see the falls, doing the Argentinian side on the first day and the Brazilian side on the second. The evening at the hotel in between the two tours really hit the spot. The pool, hot tub and jacuzzi are just what the doctor ordered after hiking in the heat. The hotel is around the corner from the lookout point to Tres Fronteras, so you can stroll down there and buy tchotchkes or just enjoy the wonderful view. A few blocks away is an excellent restaurant where an appetizer, a steak, and a big glass of wine will set you back a modest $25. In the morning, stuff yourself some more at the breakfast buffet, which is included in your room rate, and you are full of energy for another day of viewing the falls.I know Puerto Iguazu is chockablock with hotels but I would stay here again.
"Very enjoyable stay"
Stayed here for two nights, to visit Iguazu Falls, very comfortable. Lovely rooms, very pleasant staff, food was very good. Location was a little out of the way ,but as we were only there for 2 nights it was not a problem. The pool was a very welcome pastime as it was so hot whilst we were there. Very good stay.
"Average -. Terrible acoustics!"
The rooms look old, the place could use a renovation. The acoustics are BAD. You can hear everything in your room, outside and inside. The design of this hotel is poor, as the dining area is placed in the bottom of a patio that is joint also to the rooms! We could hear the spoons placed from our room which was on the top floor! You can everything from the adjacent rooms as well. The rooms have glass doors that lead you to the balcony.. the glass isn't acoustic either and you can hear every vehicle passing on the street & every animal. Did not get any sleep!
"2 Night Stay "
Spent 2 nights as part of a tour group. Very pretty hotel with beautiful grounds. It is located at the point where 3 countries, Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, meet around 2 rivers. The hotel is on the highest bank. It is really, as far as I could determine, very close to much. There is a good restaurant behind the hotel on the river but I had a 20 minute walk each way to find the nearest ATM. (And it was out of money) The next one is a bank that is quite a bit farther in the downtown. There are many restaurants there too. The hotel has Avery unique outdoor pool divided in many places by above and below water walkways. There is even a secluded 2nd smaller pool behind and a level lower. A large hot tub and small indoor pool is there also. The restaurant served good food on our only meal there. The buffet breakfast was not so good with very little hot choices. It was the room that caused me to give this a four star rating. Though it was clean, it was way too compact for my tastes. With suitcases on they stand, you had to walk sideways to get past them. The beds were larger than twin, smaller than double. We had a nice balcony if you didn't mind the noise and the heat from the air conditioner from not only you room but the adjoining room. I will admit that if you needed to dry some clothing, it worked as well as any dryer. All in all, it was a fine hotel for a few days stay.
