Located on fashionable Al Diyafah Street, this beach hotel is 2.3 km away from the World Trade Centre and Exhibition Halls and 2 km away from Jumeira beach front. Dubai International Airport is situated some 12 km away.
A fabulous hotel. From the minute we arrived we were well looked after. I recommend you pay a little extra for access to the Executive Lounge on 25th floor, worth the money. Massive room, comfortable bed, good views. We will be visiting again.
"Lovely hotel and highly recommend the club upgrade"
Stayed as a 2 day stop over lovely hotel, friendly efficient staff, we upgraded to the club suite with sea view direct with the hotel, which was cost effective and a lot cheaper than booking via our travel agent. The club lounge is very good value for money and the staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The "snacks they provide in the evening are plentiful and the first night we didn't even need to go out to eat. Good premium brands of alcohol too. The swimming pool area is good and you have direct access to the beach with towels etc provided foc.
"Brilliant holiday and stay at Amwaj Rotana - 6 Nights B&B"
This was my first holiday to Dubai with my family and we had a fantastic time and stay at this hotel. Would have loved to stay for a few more days as 6 nights wasn’t enough to explore and enjoy the whole of Dubai, however we certainly look forward to our next visit here! We had a long overnight journey from the UK and arrived a good few hours before our check in time. My first port of call was getting some rest for my two young kids (4 & 3) and for myself and Mrs. As we arrived at the hotel, our bags were immediately collected from the taxi and that was the last we saw of them until we entered our room! Check in: Check in was quick and efficient and we were kindly allowed to check in early. However, the room was not going to be ready for another hour as I had decided to upgrade to a Premium room with full sea view as opposed to side sea view with a classic room. This was not originally my plan; I knew from beforehand that internet was only available for free in certain parts of the hotel but was not available in the rooms. There was a charge of 400 AED for premium internet which would give you access to faster internet throughout the hotel which I was prepared to pay for. Free internet in hotel lobbies/rooms tend to be rubbish, slow and frequently cut off with so many people connected. Premium internet provided a good connection and there was never any trouble streaming youtube in HD, which was great for the kids and keeping my photos/videos synced with google cloud and of course using watsapp! I was advised at check in that for an extra 140 AED I can upgrade to a premium room which included the premium internet. Was definitely worth the small price difference. As the room was not going to be ready for another hour we were allowed to go have buffet breakfast in the meantime! Breakfast: The breakfast was brilliant. As you enter, you are seated at a table and asked whether you would like tea or fresh coffee. This is brought to the table in a thermos-kettle where it is kept nice and hot. There was actually branded food and cereals available such as kellogs coco pops, my kids favourite and flora margarine! There was a selection of help yourself fresh juices, apple, orange, pineapple and watermelon. The egg stations were good, where you could order your eggs to be cooked to your exact liking whether you wanted an omelette or fried egg. Scrambled was available pre cooked. My other favourite were the freshly baked croissants. I’m sure there is something for everyone to have a good hearty breakfast. One thing I think was missing or I didn’t find was Nutella which my kids love for breakfast. But that was a minor omission compared to everything else on offer. Breakfast is served till 11am which was really convenient. I cant comment about the other meals or restaurants as we only ever ate breakfast here. Pools: There is one medium sized pool 1.5m depth and a paddling pool for kids available. There always seemed to be sun loungers available and the kids paddling pool was under a shade which was great. Pool towels are available at the pool. I don’t think the pools were heated, but the kids paddling pool was warmer. Cold towels are brought to you as you laze on the sun loungers and occasionally free helping of ice lollies for the kids! Beach: The beach is no more than 5-minute walk from the hotel and easily accessible. You can request beach towels from the hotel which are provided for free having paid 500 AED deposit at the beginning of your stay which is eventually refunded to you. If you want a beach kit, then you pay 25 AED, this is not a deposit but a fee you must pay that is non-refundable. This includes a beach umbrella, cooler box with water and beach mat. The beach itself was beautiful. Nice and clean, fine sand and turquoise clean waters. The sea temperature was amazing at this time of year, like a warm bath which you can laze in for hours. There is also public wifi available on the beach and toilet facilities and even showers, however you need to pay 5 AED to use the showers. Hotel & Rooms The hotel itself was lovely and spotless clean. The staff were just brilliant, tirelessly working and always greeting with smiles. The view from the premium room had a straight on view from the balcony, however the room is inset slightly so you see the balconies of the other rooms on your left and right. You can see Atlantis from the balcony and straight ahead you can see the construction of the Dubai Eye in the distance. I think this will look spectacular once that whole area is completed. Room service was excellent. The room was always cleaned and tidied up nicely with close attention to detail. My kids got a make it yourself cuboid cardboard cut-out from KFC kids meal which they never played with. We had disposed of this near the bin. On our return to the room in the evening the room had been serviced complete with cuboid cardboard cut-out constructed into a cube and placed neatly on the corner of one of the beds! The room featured a good size Samsung flat screen HD television. I was able to connect my Android TV box via HDMI and play youtube cartoons on the TV for my kids via the WiFi with no problem at all. There was also coffee and tea making facilities which we strangely never used. Plenty of good places to get a good cuppa coffee around and we were always tanked up well. Bathroom was great and had a good shower. My only gripe was the water flow from the sink faucet was a bit weak and had trouble washing off the soap. The jets of water coming from the tap are at a good pressure but there are not enough of them. Lifts I had read quite a few reviews regarding the slowness of the lifts. The lifts themselves zip up and down the hotel very fast. I didn’t really have much of a problem with lifts at all. They tend to get a bit busy during breakfast time. There was only one point during my whole stay where the lifts were continually coming to my floor completely full. After around 10 minutes of waiting, we decided to ride the elevator up and then back down to the breakfast area. Location Its all about the location, and where Amwaj Rotana is situated you cant go wrong. Firstly you’ve got the Metro link few minutes’ walk from the hotel. The metro system is really good. Nice, clean, air conditioned and fast. Kids under 5 ride free, so I was only paying for myself and mrs. The metro link is so good that we never used the taxi to get to any locations, although they are relatively cheap. The metro is even cheaper and was amazed to find that it only cost me around £5 to get to Dubai mall and back for the whole family. If staying for a few nights get the Silver NOL card and top up as needed. The hotel is situated on The Walk where there are a number of places you can eat from. You’ve got KFC pretty much next door to the hotel and next to that you have Pizza hut which is to open soon. Worked out well with kids. There is also Zoom supermarket where you can pick up some fruit and snacks. Beach is only few minutes away too. There is a taxi rank just outside the hotel should you want to take a taxi anywhere. We really enjoyed our stay in Dubai and the hotel and felt very welcomed. We cant wait to return again but will have to wait a few years as my mrs is expecting and really don’t want to travel 7+ hours on a plane with a baby. Top Tips Grab yourself a local sim from Etisalat as you leave from the airport. It costs 100 AED and is well worth it. You get 700mb of very fast 4g and 4g+ (which ive never seen in the UK giving speeds of 31Mbps download and 17Mbps upload) and 40 minutes of local calls. Obviously make sure your phone is 4g compatible or you will get the slower but acceptable 3g connection. The main reason I got the sim was so that I could use it with The Entertainer app which gives you BOGOF vouchers for many eateries and tourist attractions. It knows your location from your phone and will tell you whats around you that accept vouchers from The Entertainer app. The app does cost £80 but I made a total saving of £352. I used it for places like ski dubai and wild wadi and sea aquarium and many different places to eat. I also used the sim with google maps from where I could decide if was better to take a taxi or metro and to locate myself around the city. 2 weeks before you go, sign up for a Revolut mastercard via Google play store or Apple store. They will send you a Master Card which you can top up as you go. It is accepted everywhere in Dubai and best of all you get the best foreign exchange rates and absolutely no fees, even when withdrawing from a cash machine in AED! I couldn’t find anyone to match the rates I was getting through that card. I used this card for every place that card payment was acceptable. However, always keep some cash with you just in case. If you have booked a classic room and want the premium internet, see if you can upgrade to a premium room which includes the internet as well and the price difference is small.
"Beautiful hotel in a perfect location"
Stayed at this hotel for 9 day in mid October and was not disappointed by the 5 star rating. The room was very spacious and had a beach and pool view. I've never stayed in such a clean hotel as well, the service by the housekeepers is second to none, coming round twice a day. All the staff are very accommodating. Getting to the beach could not be easier, less than a 2 minute walk past the pool and down 2 floors in a lift then a short walk and you're there. The beach pack the hotel offers is excellent, with your choice of a beach mat, towels, water cooler with water and a parasol. The breakfast is plentiful with everything you could possibly want. The location is the best thing about this hotel for me, located right on the walk and a 200 meter walk from the tram stop, it is absolutely perfect. Would definitely stay here again!
