"Beautiful views, very modern, needs improvement"
I agree with other reviewers, this is not a five star hotel. We were upgraded for our honeymoon to a bigger and nicer room with an incredible terrace with ocean view and outdoor tub. The rooms are very modern and a big run down, our couch had stains on it and it needed to be cleaned more thoroughly. We booked the hotel because we thought it had a beach, but the beach is down an elevator and very very rocky, not suitable for swimming or lounging and you can only use it during low tide which was before 2pm. However, you can walk 20 minutes to Padang Padang which is beautiful but gets very crowded. The hotel was very peaceful and quiet which we needed. Be prepared to walk up and town a lot of steps. We are in great shape but after a few days, it became a bit annoying. Breakfast was a large impressive spread of foods for all kind of tastes. i enjoyed a private yoga lesson overlooking the ocean because no one else showed up! The hotel is a bit remote so if you want to go to dinner, you need to go to Jimbaran which is 30 minutes away. However, if you are looking to just stay and eat and do everything at the hotel, this is a good spot for you, we just get a bit antsy and want to explore. There are nearby beach clubs you can go to for the day, but for a little extra money, I would recommend staying at the hotels that have a beach club attached in Uluwatu. The hotel tries to overcharge you for transportation and any small thing, which was disappointing since we stayed at so many other places where they went above and beyond for us. We asked them to make a dinner reservation and they never followed up with us to confirm it was booked. When i was told that it opened only three years ago I was surprised because the property and rooms need to be better maintained.
"Beautiful hotel with gorgeous views"
The views from all of the rooms at this hotel are second to none, all of the rooms are ocean view, very spacious and well equipped. Our suite had a jacuzzi bath on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We spent half a day by the pool where we were treated with complimentary water, fruit skewers and fruit punch throughout the morning. The pool itself was stunning, there were two infinity pools with plenty of loungers to choose from. The only reason I rated this hotel as a 4 is because the service wasn't quite as good as the one we had stayed at the nights before, the service wasn't bad, it just wasn't as open and engaging as we experienced before.
Anantara Uluwata is surely a over hyped property and needs a lot of improvement in every aspect - whether it may be hospitality or hotel facilities are concerned. On our arrival our reception was very frigid. The hotel staff at the reception Mr. Kausa checked us into our room which was a big let down. He showed no warmth whatsoever. The approach to the room was through a alley which had a damp roof. The property does not have buggies and it is very tiring to reach the room every time on the never ending stairs. We opened the room to a dripping roof. The so called room with a private swimming pool and no privacy. When we voiced our concern the hotel staff changed our room. No personal touch was there from any member of the hotel staff. It seemed that every moment was a compromise and we had to demand for everything.
" Beautiful hotel"
Recently stayed four nights at the Anantara in Uluwatu, on arrival we were luckily upgraded to a ocean view suite, right near the pool area. Our room was very spacious, clean and showcasing the beautiful view. We both loved our stay, very relaxing and quiet, the staff were efficient, friendly and professional. As for the food, it did not disappoint, offering various options. The breakfast options were endless and the coffee was great. As for the grounds, we did find that there were a lot of stairs, so for older guests this could be a challenge. Other than that we throughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
"Not worth the splurge"
This is the most expensive hotel in our Bali trip. We paid a lot for the room rate but the standard is not up to anantara brand. The decoration is dated. Dirty wall, broken tiles around pool. A/C dripping in many areas included the 360 restaurant as we sat down the chair is damped by the water leaked from the ceiling. The view is nice around the pool. The service is overall good, the staffs are friendly but not professional. They even dropped the food on the floor while serving. Apologized but the food still left on the floor with numerous ants coming at it. We try to take it positively not to think about the price we paid compared to the quality of hotel. Really not worth it as many hotels we found in Bali provided spotless service with normal price. Final straw to end our stay, there was a complimentary photography coupon. They will take your photos and print out one for you as a gift. The photographer were nice and all but then there was a western girl who worked at photo editing room who were quite rude. As she tried to sell the rest of our photos with unreasonable price. We said we did not want to buy the photos. She acted rude as she gave us the complimentary photo. If you don't want to be ripped off and felt forced to buy your photos, don't us the coupon. We left the hotel in a bad mood and did not understand why we have to go through all these in a so called five stars hotel.
