"Mmmmmm ........ what to say'"
Mmmmm What to say. This is a five star resort in Chiangmai city not far from the old city walls. A great location. We stayed for three nights in a river view (glimpse) suite which was huge and fitted out beautifully. Of course the staff were great. The whole place is five star and a joy to visit. I'm glad we went. But. With a five star there should be a commitment to everything being five star. 1. Their reception was so disorganised to the extent that guests (me) carried their own bags. (I have carried my bags all over the world! But I'm making a point. We had to chase up someone to check in and then they eventually took us to a "suite" booking executive room. All in all a long time. 2. I checked out before noon as required and why not. No problem. I wasn't leaving for a few hours so I stayed and had something to drink and eat after I checked out. BUT why would they switch off my wifi so quickly after I checked out. This has never happened as far as I can recall with other five star international hotels in my recent travels. I just swapped over to my 4G but ........
"3 nights vacation"
This was very great trip for me and my friend. I spent 3 nights here. All the staffs was excellent especialy Noey, Aor, and the driver Mr.John. I have a lots of question since it was an urgent trip but all staff gave me a lot of nice recommend.
"Extremely excellent ... but ..."
I agree that this is a fabulous hotel with a wonderful setting by the river and is luxurious. I enjoyed a delicious Indian meal there too. The staff are extremely polite and you do feel special. It's a wonderful city hotel. But wanting to have a shower at 10pm, found that there was no hot water! Unforgivable for this 6 star hotel! During the check in process, I was invited to a preview of their Anantara Residences and would receive a 5000 baht voucher if I went through their 90 minute presentation. This was essentially a time share "investment" so I declined. But it was done in such an obsequious manner that I almost agreed! The hotel must market themselves strongly in mainland China, because there were many tourists from there. Depending on your point of view, this could be either positive or negative. :) If you don't mind being out of town, I suggest The Four Seasons for a more spacious, serene and bucolic experience. It depends what you're looking for.
"Friday night specials"
This is a fabulous hotel and has been offering special cocktails early evenings which prepared by the very experienced bar staff and some of the most unusual names and mixtures you can imagine. The accompanying snacks are equally of the highest standard. Fabulous setting and pleasant surroundings
The Anantara is a wonderful, peaceful respite close to everything. The staff is sheer perfection! The restaurants are very good and have a good drink selection. You won't regret choosing the Anantara!
