"Idyllic island, wonderful hotel but poor snorkelling location "
Recently stayed for 5 nights 4 days and loved this hotel. The room was a beach pool villa which was big and comfortable, the staff were fantastic, the island just beautiful. Restaurants were great quality, with lovely and knowledgeable staff, and tasty food although breakfast was just about average with a few touches missing. The island is manicured to perfection, and quite small so you can get everywhere on foot in just a few minutes. The beaches are wide and beautiful and the large shallow lagoon is simply stunning to look at and swim around in. There are a number of spas which looked lovely but we didn't use them. Activities include surfing lessons, watersports, diving and fishing. We hired a canoe for a couple of hours for free which was great fun and snorkelling gear is available for free. You can dine around in the restaurants on the 2 other Anantara resorts on adjacent island (Veli and Naladhu) which is a lovely experience with a 1min boat ride between them. The Thai restaurant on the walkway between Veli and Naladhu is especially nice being right on the reef with the sight and sound of waves breaking as you sit outside watching the world go by and enjoying the great food. Oregami the Japanese restaurant on Vrli was especially good for food and wine. We had dinner one night on the balcony of the Italian on Dhigu overlooking the lagoon which was very pleasant and the food was fantastic. So why only 4 stars' The snorkelling is poor. Firstly there is no house reef at the resort and boat trips to the nearest reef are charged at $80 each for a 2 hour trip. It's a nice boat trip but the reef is hardly worth seeing. It's narrow and dull with a limited diversity of sea life. If snorkelling is your thing, there are many better locations in the Maldives you should try. Anantara is really about white beaches, blue lagoons and a great resort hotel experience. In these things it excels!
Beautiful location, recommended for family short vacations Friendly and professional staff. Nice and clean villas. I enjoyed the high quality and well experienced spa staff. Beautiful and clean beaches
Perfect stay! comfy accomodation, delicious food in all restaurants, nice kids club. Very attentive attitude every day and on my birthday especially. Huge thanks for our room-boy NAEEM! He made our stay wonderful with lots of pleasant surprises in our room.
