"A relaxing and enjoyable stay"
we stayed here for 2 weeks in January 2017. We wanted somewhere near Chaweng but not on the main part of Chaweng as the town is pretty busy and any of the Chaweng hotels are onto a busy public beach which, in our opinion was nothing like the dream beach image that people seem to give it. The hotel is on a gentle hillside but there are steps so anyone with walking difficulties may want to look at a resort on a flatter location. The staff are very welcoming and the room presentation was very nice with flowers and the wonderful towel shapes that the Thai hotels seem to do so well. The room we had was an upstairs with balcony. The bathroom is inside (I think some of the chalets may have open air bathrooms) The bathroom was spacious but not airconditioned although that never bothered us. The balcony was big and has screens for weather protection and privacy. The bed was kingsize and comfortable. Breakfast was down at the beach restaurant - Ocean Kiss. The choice was mostly similar daily but a wide selection, well cooked and fresh. They have a cold room to keep the cheeses, fruits etc. free from insects. The first time I have seen that and a very good idea. The pool area has a shallow section for children and a main area for swimming. The resort never felt crowded. The areas around the pool and beach were well staffed with the nicest guys who kept on top of everyones needs with towels, drinks etc. The hotel maintains the beach well. Recent bad weather had affected the beach but while we were there sand was delivered and spread to improve and restore the beach. The sea was pretty calm and clear. Swimming is easy as the water is actually not that deep. There is a little island about 200m offshore, we took a canoe out there but at low tide some locals fishing actually walked (water was up to their chests though) There were warning signs for sea urchins but I never saw any. The beach is listed as being Chaweng but actually you cannot walk very far as neighbouring properties and high tide cut off the beach if you wanted to walk all the way into town. The answer is to go onto the road outside for a 10 min walk then cut back onto the beach. Walking to Chaweng is easy although caution at night since their are no pavements - just the road side. There is a good selection of massage places, local restaurants, mini markets etc. close by any you are well positioned to go to Bophut beach too. We put some effort into the choice of hotel based on location and we were happy. Negatives' In a few areas maintanence could be stepped up here and there but I would say that is something that could be a point for many hotels. We did experience slightly varying levels of service in the room - just things like bottles of water one night then not the next etc. but again, nothing that spoils the stay and again, probably the same in all hotels. One thing that stands out was the friendliness and welcome. Everyone we saw around the hotel always said hello and the feeling was positive and happy. I always find it hard to say if I would go back to a place since there are just so many different resorts and countries out there to experience but if I went back to the Anantara Lawana again I would certainly be happy as we totally enjoyed our time there
"Paradise in the monsoon"
When we landed on Koh Samui we were so disappointed to see all of the flooding and relentless rain but after checking into our room in paradise, our worries soon disappeared. The one thing you can't control on a vacation is the weather, but what you can control is the establishment in which you chose to stay... and we chose the right one! Despite the rain, my husband, 16 month old son and I had a fabulous time. The rooms in themselves are amazing and beg you to stay inside them so the downpour outside meant nothing. Then there are the options of spa packages and massages, delectable meals, plus gracious staff that was always accommodating. I would also like to add that the GM (Joao) of this hotel made our stay. He was attentive, understanding of the situation and always available for whatever we needed (even if it was just a chat in the mornings at breakfast). I would highly recommend staying here... rain or shine... this place is fantastic!
"Luxurious first class hotel"
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff and attention to detail really made this hotel first class! Massaging the flight away from our neck and shoulders with a complimentary welcome massage, and freezing cold cloths, ice pops and fruit kebabs on the beach! Everybody was intent on making our holiday one from paradise. The rooms were beautifully cold, very welcome after a day at the beach. The bed was sooooo comfortable and we literally sank into it and sleep very well. Luckily the breakfasts were divine, and worth getting up for especially the Bircher muesli. All very fresh and constantly replenished. Our dining experience at Tree Tops was wonderful with views to match! We won't hesitate to recommend this hotel.. and look forward to a return one day soon.
A beautifully designed hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Their breakfast is phenomenal and I highly recommend the treetops restaurant it was a great dining experience. The beach is ok but does have plenty of very comfortable beds and sunloungers to relax on. The less expensive deluxe rooms are much nicer and bigger that the plunge pool rooms which are small and dark with no view - unless you want to spend your day in your own pool without a view. We actually ended up downgrading because we didn't like the pool room we originally booked. Thank you Anantara Lawana for a wonderful honeymoon stay!!
Joined the hotel for NYE celebration with fantastic food, great music in perfect beach setting with excellent staff!!! Living on the island, we have made the hotel our "home" for little getaways from time to time and were never disappointed. Cozy villas and attentive staff. Large breakfast buffet in the morning and outstanding dinners at TreeTops Restaurant.
