"restaurants are fantastic"
We did not stay at this resort . we stay next door at the Marriott as we are members there.. We eat at this resort often both in the lasala and the main restaurant sea fire and salt. Most lunch times we would go to the sea fire and salt. The staff there are so good Welland , Natti, Tak Jack and Darren the head chef all were so professional and so kind to us. The food is so good. We had a meal there in the evening also . The atmosphere is lovely. A sax player is there most evenings and also in the distance you can see a large film screen two evenings a week .We had a meal at the lasala which was also very good . The views there are so beautiful. Before we ate there we went to the treehouse bar fantastic. We also went to the lasala for a cookery class. What a fab afternoon that was. We learnt so much and then ate what we cooked. That was a great day. thankyou to all . We are back in January 2018 can't wait to see you all.
"Nearly perfect stay"
If you want to avoid the touristic crowds of the south of the island, if you want to be surrounded by an amazing nature, looking for a top quality service then this is the place. It is very beautiful and relaxing, it's a must see! 2 things that I would recommend to change to the managers: - Keep the speakers inside the room. It is really great to listen to the nature, so it's quite sad to sometime have your neighbors playing loudly their Spotify playlists, particularly at night (the hotel provide bluetooth speakers that you can take wherever in the hotel). - Have all the prices with the tip and taxes included, instead of having 10 + 7% to add every time (and there's still space on the receipt for additional tip). Having said that, it's a real paradise on earth, I can't wait to have the possibility to come back one day.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week away from the madness of London and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is stunningly beautiful and it really felt like stepping in to another world when we checked in. The staff were all helpful and friendly and the service overall exceeded our expectations. There's a great mix of activities offered by the hotel with the option to take up private sessions as well should you wish - we had a number of private yoga lessons which were a fantastic addition to our stay. The food throughout the resort is fantastic but we particularly enjoyed the Thai food at La Sala. We were staying in a Sala Pool Villa which was fantastic and spacious and the photos online really don't do justice to quite how gorgeous the accommodation and setting truly is. Housekeeping standards were very high and the furnishings were luxurious. There's so much more I could say about how much we enjoyed our time here but to save going on and on I'll just say this was one of our favourite places we've ever been and I couldn't recommend it more.
The most beautiful resort we have ever stayed in. However, I have two cautions for anyone considering here, so keep reading. Here are just a few of our favorite things: Staff: Kind and always helpful. They are very aware of little things, for example, they know if you have been gone all day that you are probably tired and will give you a golf cart ride back to your room. Kate, who cleaned our room, always left cute little notes on the bed and bathroom mirror, and kept our room impeccably clean and stocked with fresh towels. The breakfast staff knew that we liked to sit by the water and feed the fish and ducks, and always remembered that I drink black coffee. Grounds: Perfect. The place is beautiful, with flowers, bamboo, ponds with blooming flowers and fish, and occasional lizards. The staff create little floating flower arrangements daily in vases throughout the property. It was nice to just stroll around the property. They control mosquitos very well, and they weren't a problem, although we always wore repellant just in case. Rooms: Well, they all have a private pool, and it is a pretty big pool. Ours had plumeria trees that randomly dropped flowers to float in the water. It was perfect. The room itself is spacious and clean, and it makes you not want to leave! We ordered room service on the last night, and it was delicious. Location: Almost a private beach. It is calm and lovely, with hardly any people. This is great, but also one of the two negative things to consider. Because Mai Khao is secluded, just about any tours/activities that you want to do have a surcharge for picking you up in Mai Khao. This is not the fault of the hotel, just something to know about--it will cost more to stay here. I think it is totally worth it, though. Patong may be cheaper, but it is overcrowded and kind of gross. Mai Khao is beautiful and secluded. Restaurants: We loved everything about the breakfast. We also enjoyed room service, the pool bar, and the Treehouse. However, for dinner we found the restaurants at the JW Marriot (sister property of Anantara, they can charge to your room) to be better. We also had dinner a few nights at Turtle Village, that is within walking distance. This brings us to our other negative. My husband and I do not have children and were on a romantic vacation. We had a bad experience attempting to eat at the Sea. Fire, Salt. restaurant. The restaurant faces the children's play area, so our romantic sunset view was blocked by a child in a diaper jumping on a trampoline, and a naked little girl squatting and urinating! This was quite shocking in such an upscale place. We understand that the hotel cannot control children, but relocating the play area away from the upscale restaurant might be a good idea. In spite of this, it was still the best hotel we have ever stayed in, and we would love to come back. We were very sad to leave!
"A wonderful place to rest and relax"
We stayed in a Pool Villa which was extremely spacious with a large bedroom/sitting room (huge double bed), dressing room, bathroom with his and hers sinks, shower and lavatory. There was also an outside bath adjacent to the pool. Outside was the pool which was generously sized and between 1 and 1.5 metres deep. The wooden boarded terrace was spacious with room for two sun beds and a covered Sala with mattress seats. There was a dining table and chairs and an extensive in room bar. The whole villa was completely private. You could stay in your villa all the time but it was worth venturing out. The villa itself does not have a sea view but it is a short walk to the beach where the public pool, bar and restaurant sit behind a well tended lawn. The beach is long sandy and empty as it is protected as a turtle nesting site. Lovely to walk along and enjoy the sunsets. The Sala and Sea,Fire and Salt restaurants served wonderful food in good portions. The seafood cooked on salt brick was delicious. The location is good if all you want is to relax in the hotel. There is not much else apart from the Marriott hotel next door and a few shops around which suited us but would not suit if you were looking for Phuket nightlife. The resort was very well cared for and the staff, without exception, were friendly, welcoming and helpful as well as effective and efficient. A wonderful place to relax.
