"Well-maintained property and good servers, except"
To be honest, this is a well-maintained and managed property. Even though it does not face the sea, it is like a quiet paradise in its own land. All servers are friendly and up to a luxury Thai resort professional standard. But our experience of reception was not as excellent as another Anantara hotel I have been to. It was crowded when we arrived and the welcome drink was not delivered to guests who were resting in the lobby but was only left in front of the person who was doing the check-in. This is not the Anantara reception with serenity and elegance I expected. Second, do not confuse this place with Anantara Mai khao Villa, which is at the opposite side of the AVC. The Villa area is really elegant and luxurious. The two places are like two different world. And you are not allowed to use the pool area at the villa. Said that, the AVC is still well-managed, clean and spacious. So the question is how much you pay to stay at the AVC or the villa. The AVC has its own spacious and well-maintained villa, too. But as I said, if you want real luxurious experience, just go the AV. In fact, I believe, a rational person would never pay the same price to the AVC in stead of the AV. The truth is people who come the the AVC are AVC members who at least "appear" to pay less than that you can find on booking.com or Expedia. If you pay 400 dollars per night for a one bedroom pool villa, GO TO THE AV! Breakfast: You can't fault it. Wide range of selections and good service. I would not compare it to the Sofitel standard, but I am satisfied. Beach is a 10-min walk. Short cut is to pass through the AV where you can see the other Anantara world in Mai khao. Speaking of club membership, I must say I have encountered a worst sale technique here. They kind of expect you to sign a 30-year commitment within one or two hours of "preview" of the membership. You don't get to review any detailed contract or any hotel details before you are asked to sign..Once you sign, it is a 30-year commitment and I never sign anything at the scene after an instant sale, which I hate. Not to mention the package presented is not attractive. You pay 6 thousands dollars per year for the first 5 years to earn 9000 points to spend at Anantara and its affiliated hotel. (one day of accommodation costs 1100 to 3000 points, depending on which hotel you stay.) After 5 years, you pay 700 annual fees each year. Ridiculous. After all, the AVC is well-maintained and clean but the location is a bit far from anywhere. Prepare to rent a car if you wish explore the island. Restaurant: Chaam in the AVC is the best one I tried in the area. Other restaurants such as Andaman Grill in the JW Marriott or Salat in the AV, was disappointing and way too pricey, even by European standard. Thai Express in the Turtle village sucks. You would rather go to Chaam.
"A great resort but very quiet"
We booked this resort through our timeshare for our first ever visit to ThAiland and it is absolutely beautiful. We also bought our 24 year old son and his friends and my 21 year old daughter and her boyfriend- they all loved the accommodations which are modern and very spacious- for them the downside was the location - its Bout an hour to the main touristy Patong party area (about 1,000 TB each way). My husband and I on the other hand were very pleased to be no where near Patong (but close enough if we wanted to go). There are plenty of little shacks and carts in the are and we borrowed bikes at the resort to go for a little wander. The staff at the resort are lovely! I cannot say how lovely they are - they made everything feel luxurious and the staff even gave Mark a birthday cake on his birthday- it's the little things that sometimes make a difference. The restaurant on site is really good value and very nice. The pool bar do BOGOF drinks every day 4-6 so you can guess where we were most days😉. The beach is just a five minute walk through some amazing gardens (the sister resort Anantara Villas). Overall I cannot fault this resort for anything (and I always try on my reviews to give the good and the bad). So don't come here if you want to party, but if you want to relax and enjoy a little piece of paradise, it's well recommended.
"A truly enjoyable short break"
This is our 2nd trip to this resort and I must say for certain that there has been much improvement. Though is is only one restaurant, the resort is just opposite the Turtle Village, a small shopping area with good food and entertainment. We rented a small car for our 2 days stay. It was easy to drive and explore other parts of this small island as traffic was not heavy. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
"Quiet , relaxing"
Quiet, relaxing resort. Very comfortable beds in a spacious 2 bedroom suite. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a simple meal. fantastic wifi Small kids club to keep children entertained. A small pool with ample of sun bathing chairs is good for a dip. theres a mini pool bar and a pizza pit stop next to it.pizza was okay. breakfast at the restaurant was okay too. good selection of food. Turtle village which has a few shops and mini grocer is right across the resort. walk a few mins from turtle village , thats the beach. very rough sea but secluded beach which is good for quiet time. DOWNSIDE : too far from anywhere. Resort lightings are way too dim.
"Great Place to Relax & Unwind with Family"
Anantara Vacation Club is a place for you to stay and relax and spend quality time with family. There are so many activities for the kids. We really love to come here every year to relax. It is like our second home!
