"My valentines / birthday getaway ❤"
Maldives is truly a paradise here on earth but staying in Anantara Veli ( couples resort ) made our getaway extra special. Everything at the resort is made and done with special attention to make sure every guest leaves with one of the most memorable vacation of their lives. Now we are rejuvenated and energized to go back to work and our 4 kids😊 Hoping to go back with our children to experience the magic of of the neighboring resort - Anantara Dhigu which is a family oriented resort!
"What a place"
I saw someone's statement "Paradise on earth" and I really can't think of someting else to say about this place. Never experienced such a beautifull surrounding and service. You think you are in heaven!
"Stunning Adult-only Property with Amazing Staff"
My husband and I have been to the Maldives four times over the last decade, and this was our first time staying at the Anantara Veli. Despite having stayed at some pretty good hotels in the past, we blown away with the excellent service and overall experience at the Anantara Veli resort. This must have been one of the most relaxing and pleasant 8 days we have had at any resort. There was plenty to do at the resort and we took up what was on offer on the island, including a snorkelling excursion one morning where were were lucky enough to encounter a super pod of wild dolphins merrily swimming alongside several boats (including ours). Our local snorkelling guide and boat captain were superb and very knowledgable, making our snorkeling expedition even more fulfilling. And even though everyone in our group were stung by plankton (our own fault for forgetting to wear a rash guard), it was an unforgettable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experiences each evening at the various restaurants between Anantara Veli and Dhigu. We had great fun during our teppanyaki experience with Chef Rahull, who extremely entertaining. We loved the Thai restaurant so much we went back a second time during our stay. Breakfast was also a treat at 73 Degrees, especially because the staff were so friendly, engaging us at appropriate times during our meal. The F&B staff, kitchen staff included, were fantastic and it was actually sad to goodbye to them after our stay because we arrived as guests, but left as friends. Prashirit Poudel from the Front Office needs special mention because he knew our names and room number from the day we arrived and was resourceful enough to track us down whenever something required our attention, such as when we accidentally left our room safe unlocked. He came personally to the bar where we were having Happy Hour drinks, and after a couple minutes of pleasantries and asking how our day was going, he gently told us about our unlocked safe. When one of us went back to our room to lock the safe, a member of the housekeeping team was already waiting for us and "guarding" the room, just as a precaution. Prashirit is also a pretty good dancer, as we found out during one of the evening time performances :) Our room boy Jimmy was also absolutely delightful. Our room was immaculately cleaned each morning, no matter what time we left for breakfast, by the time we got back, the room would be refreshed. Evening turndown was perfectly timed without fail, with a note written on a leaf each evening, with goodnight and sweet dreams wishes. All these gestures are truly heartwarming and appreciated. All throughout our stay, it was hard to resist taking photos of the beautiful surrounds. Perhaps we were in an extremely reflective and serene mood, but the sunsets at the Anantara seemed more spectacular, each was a unique kaleidoscope of colours, outdoing each other. The snorkeling in the resort was also amazing with so many varieties of fish, and if you are lucky, you can even see turtles and black tip reef sharks. Highly recommend snorkeling at Gulhifushi, accessible by the complimentary shuttle. We brought our own snorkeling mask, but you can borrow them and fins for free. We had the most amazing time at the Anantara Veli and we cannot recommend it enough. We look forward to our next visit... in fact, we can't wait! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (probably preaching to the converted) Please do NOT feed the wildlife. There were a few guests who kept bread from their breakfast table to feed the fish so that they could get photographs of themselves and the fish. They didn't stop despite many other guests asking them not to, and even after the hotel staff had nicely told them to stop. This was the most distressing part of the entire stay (through no fault of the hotel, of course).
"Stunning experience and location"
Its not often you go to a location that not only looks better in person than it does in the photos, but also completely exceeds your expectations in every possible way. Simply this is one of the best holidays I have ever had! The location is amazing, the staff were incredible and everything about the resort was stunning. From the excellent food to the beds and access directly into the lagoon from your room, there wasn't a single thing that I would want to change. The location staff are incredibly friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They anticipate your needs and are always happy to point out the best things to do in this paradise. Bring lots of sunscreen and plan your transfers well, especially with incoming and outgoing flights. This trip set the bar so hight, other holidays will struggle to match it.
Paradise on Earth in every way from location, accommodation, food and people. Cannot do enough for you. Still here but compelled to comment now... Special thanks to Chef Wichai who showed me what I'd been doing wrong in Thai cooking - very patiently and with excellent English - thank-you! Also Natch Nan - delightful and helpful, Ibrahim - Mr Fixit, Chef Ghadi' Egyptian who excels at Japanese cuisine!, Prasanth and on and on - everyone! Saving up already for next visit!
