"Nice short stay"
Ideally located to the eastern side of Princess Street and Wavereley Station this hotel provided us with a lovely short stay. Friendly and efficient staff, clean room and bathroom and a relaxing pool, sauna and steam room. Will certainly return.
"A great base for exploring Edinburgh"
Our small-group tour used this hotel as a base for the three days we spent in Edinburgh, and I was very happy with the choice. I was already familiar with the Apex brand, having stayed at their Temple Court hotel in London before. The room decor is almost identical at both hotels (modern and, IMO, quite attractive), but the Waterloo Place also has more expansive and lovely public lounge areas. The key difference is that while I had some issues with subpar service in London, I couldn't have been happier with the courteous, efficient, genuinely nice service I received from everyone here. After arriving sleep-deprived and jet-lagged, I really appreciated the swift and helpful check-in, and the ability to access my room several hours before standard check-in time. Both my standard City King bedroom and bathroom were spacious (the bathroom esp. so) and also spotless and well-appointed. The bed was supremely comfortable, and everything--from lighting to wi-fi to water pressure and temperature--functioned beautifully. My room was on the eighth floor, and generally quiet and peaceful, although it did get some noise from a nightclub down below. (We were there over a weekend.) For me, this was easily solved by playing some soothing white-noise files on my phone to filter out the noise, which wasn't esp. loud. Rooms on lower floors, though, might have more of a noise issue with that nightclub. Breakfast at the hotel was very pleasant. It included both an ample cold buffet and a menu of hot items, ordered a la carte and cooked to order. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the cappuccinos were excellent too. Really nice and prompt service, as in the rest of the hotel. Our group had a very busy schedule during our three-day Edinburgh stay, so I never had a chance to linger over breakfast or curl up with a good book either in my room or the pleasant public areas. It's a shame, because I found this hotel to be a very inviting and welcoming place.
"Mostly good but build time in for breakfast!"
Mostly good but build time in for breakfast. Menu choice for dinner is ok but grill / steak prices are expensive and don't reflect the poor quality of the steak/s had. Room service speedy and food warm which was impressive
I and the wife stayed here for 4 days. The hotel is fabulous and located in the heart of the shopping area in Edinburgh (Princess street). The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were pristine. Highly recommended.
"Great Location - top class hotel"
The staff attention to detail, the location, decor, rooms and restaurant (breakfast) are really top class. It's good vfm and we stay here whenever we visit Edinburgh. Some views to Calton Hill, the indirect light from sunsets and sunrises are special.
