"A great luxury holiday experience"
Have just returned from a week at the Elounda Village resort. There were so many great things about the holiday it is difficult to know where to start . The welcome was great (free glass of sparkling wine , bags carried to your room by a porter, very efficient and very friendly staff) . Although the drinks package did not include everything we were still entitled to a large selection of excellent cocktails . Wine and beer choice was restricted but adequate. Food at the buffet restaurant was the best buffet I've ever had. At the A La Carte restaurants choice was restricted if you chose not to pay a supplement although the available dishes were excellent. The beach area was crowded every day but we always got sunbeds. The beach bar had great views of the bay and lovely staff . The sea was warm and crystal clear and ideal for enjoying scuba diving and snorkelling. We spent more on this holiday than we normally would and our expectations were very high. We were not disappointed . The great time we had at the Greek night makes me smile still. A big thank you to the lovely staff at the Elounda Village for making our holiday so special
"Overall, a lovely week at Elounda Village. "
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. We don't normally stay in hotels this large but all the different terracing options and places to sit or sunbathe made it feel less crowded (although we went in October anyway so it was not completely full). Given that it's a 5 star resort with a lot of English guests, we thought they could have done with more English language channels than just CNN and BBC World (not that we want to stay in and watch TV all the time but we stayed when I was 20 weeks pregnant so a film in our room rather than sitting in a bar would have been a good option). Either better channels or a DVD player and the option to borrow. DVDs which other resorts have. And in-room dining would have been a nice option.
I can honestly say this was one of the best adult only all inclusive we have ever stayed in so disappointed that we lost a days holiday as Thompson cancelled our flight out there because it was such a great place.. The food you could not fault Al a carte restaurants are a must to book whilst there. Drinks are good entertainment was good but not brilliant waitress service in the lobby bar was very good there was a young blonde hair girl who works very hard in that bar unfortunately I did not get her name but she was brilliant always had a smile on her face. The only other disappointment I would say was our holiday was the Thurs to the Thurs and we missed the traditional Greek night so I guess we will just have to go back!! Cannot wait
"Lovely hotel with great staff. The perfect honeymoon!"
We had such a lovely time at Elounda Village. This was our first all inclusive holiday and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely and there was definitely enough choice and variety. We preferred to dine at Mirabello but Culinarium was also very good. I would really recommend going all inclusive as the prices for drinks and food were otherwise quite expensive. The theme nights were fantastic and were included if you were all inclusive. We spent an afternoon at the Spa which is well worth the money, heaven! We were looked after very well and even received a few surprises as we were on our honeymoon. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We were made to feel really welcome, especially from Dimitris in the lobby bar who was always happy to answer our questions and just generally chat to us. The sports activities were very good but I would have liked to have had a bit more variety. The pool was very cold, but we spent most of our time at the beach where the water was warmer. All in all we were very happy with everything at the hotel. We had such a lovely time and would definetly recommend staying here. A visit to the island Spinalonga and the nearby fishing village Plaka is an absolute must! One small criticism that we have is that we were not able to eat breakfast on the day we left as it was so early in the morning but we would have liked to have been given something small to eat on the way. Thank you for a lovely holiday Elounda Village!
Having stayed in various hotels around the world, we felt we needed to shout about the "Sensimar Elounda Village”. Having never travelled to Crete before we booked this as a last minute holiday, and we are so pleased we did. As our first visit to Greece this Island was a brilliant start, enjoying the sophistication of this hotel, coupled with the tradition ambiance of the Island. The hotel’s layout is impressive and tranquil – most of the rooms seem to have an excellent vista but it is worth looking at an upgrade to experience this. Our room, which we had was on the third floor on the main block – number 307. This left us with views of the sea and the surrounding mountains, quite exquisite. (sun most of the day). Service and personal interactions from all of the staff was "top notch” and couldn’t be faulted. On our first night we dined at the “Greek evening” and was greeted by Michalis Volyrakis – the General Manager – a true ambassador for the Sensimar Group. Having eaten at various Caribbean hotels the Sensimar Elounda Village, buffets was by far the best – you really felt and tasted a passion from all their chefs. The beach area which has been constructed, works perfectly with the various sun-bed terraces – so you have lots of choices of where to enjoy the sun and brilliant views. I would recommend half board. As you can then eat out at local restaurants which is a must! The evening lobby bar is relaxing and entertaining, however a couple of drinks and a coffee will set you back around 15 to 20 euros. (still worth it). Must mention the restaurant staff - all so nice and knowledgable – they work so hard and really care, offering a true personable service . We hired a car for a couple of days, and the local man (sorry forgot your name) who arranged he hire in the hotel was so helpful with lots of recommendations of where to go and eat. (125 euros for 3 days) Also again we forget her name but one of the ladies who looked after us for breakfast and evening meal in the buffet restaurant is such a credit to the hotel – she told us she started with this establishment when she was 17 and that was over 20 years ago – she made us feel so special - I"m sure Michalis knows who you are and should be very proud of you. The mini bar although gives you all you want, is a bit pricey, we purchased a few bottles of wine locally (the rose wine in Crete is brilliant) and we could always get ice from the lobby bar. You really have to try this place as it ticks all the boxes. Oh – if you are feeling flash you must try the fresh fish at lunch at the Mirabello Restauarant, over looking the sea – wow what views and such great food – this alone is a dining experience you have to try. In summary this hotel has a fantastic team of people with management leading from the front – must try it.
