"Not for Everyone"
The location of the village is serene and somewhat isolated (not necessarily a bad thing). The food is better than most half board (dinner) service is very good. The beach is questionable unless you like to dive straight in or if you a diver. There is a great snorkelling lagoon with lots of underwater activity, however if you like to lounge in the sand go for a beach walk after dinner you a very limited. (to each their own) The setting is beautiful and the couples only is a great attraction. I found the room (I had a chalet) was nothing special and somewhat dark. While others may enjoy a minimum of a 2 hour ride from the airport (Heraklion) I found this a little frustrating, if you can afford private transport take it. The hotel did provide refreshments upon a late arrival which was quite welcoming after a long day. The hotel itself is set off the main road so be prepared (10 min walk ) to main road. I understand the attraction for some just not for me, nothing really bad, just different expectations from a resort.
"Lovely village hotel + appartments"
Set right on the beach, has its own little beach and scuba diving into the lovely sea. Rooms exceptionally clean and well appointed, mini bar in our room. 5 star quality, food was fantastic with a massive buffet selection and evening choice of dining. A small mini market in the grounds which was good but not fantastic - could have had more choice there. Quite a few bars and snack facilities at this resort which is just as well, when we went it was September and the temperature was in the 35 to 40's there is security on the gates, and if you are up to it you can take a moderate walk to the local town which can be seen on the left side of the beach- way to hot when we went, just stayed at the hotel and beach. There are some good tours available, but if you go where a hat and keep covered - I got sunburnt the first day we were there. We arrived because of the flight, quite late and unlike out other hotels- there was no food available for us eat except the usual crisps or nuts, On our leaving we had to hire a room because of a late out flight and there were major price differences given to us, Some staff were great, others could do with some customer service training- we were not that pleased. Would we go there again- only if the price was right lovely place, but would probably go elsewhere next time
"Visit 11 October to 18 October as Mythica guests"
Our experience showed that all the good reviews are well earned. We found the buffet restaurant best for our needs because we are not big eaters and could pick what we wanted. We did visit the Culinarium restaurant on two nights. Food throughout was excellent, as was the attitude of the staff. We think that, overall, our experience at this hotel was one of the best. We will be going back. One thing I'd suggest is that whenever music is played in the bar the volume is lower. Perhaps a gentler style of music e.g Greek would suit better; or perhaps they could provide a separate, quiet bar.
"A very tranquil holiday"
We have just returned from the Elounda Village Hotel and Spa and I have to say we enjoyed it immensely. We were upgraded to a better room and terrace which had the most fantastic views across the bay. The room itself was very clean and spacious, although the bathroom was a small considering the rest of the accommodation. However, the terrace/balcony was massive and the sturdy sunbeds were put to good use. Presented with cava and a bottle of wine on arrival, together with flowers and a bowl of fruit which was replenished each day. A free newspaper completed the upgrade! There were so many levels to explore and so many sun beds to choose from around the pool and along the private beach. Even though it was the end of season, everything functioned perfectly. The dining experience was simply superb, with inside and outside dining. The service in the restaurant was excellent and the quality and variation of food available was one of the best we have experienced. All the staff were very polite and helpful - nothing was too much trouble and it was a delight in the evening with the themed cuisine. We did find the prices in the bar and lounges very expensive compared to 5* hotels in Spain or the Canaries and this moderated our intake of alcohol, which was not a bad thing. However, the bar and terrace area was very comfortable and we enjoyed our time in there. We did not participate in the outdoor activities much as we preferred to make our own entertainment, exploring the local area of Elounda, Plaka etc. All of the staff were delightful and quite happy to spend time with us and engage in conversation. Their English was much better than my Greek! A lovely holiday overall and some wonderful countryside to visit.
"Another lovely stay at Elounda Village"
We enjoyed our previous stays at Elounda Village so much that we stayed for two weeks this year and we enjoyed every minute. The all the staff are so helpful and friendly and the resort itself is always improving. We made the booking later than usual so had a limited choice of room type available for our travel dates but we were so lucky that we were able to upgrade our room while at the resort, the room we moved to was really nice and one we had stayed in previously. Many thanks to Eleni for arranging our room change for us, we were so grateful. Only one minor complaint was that our welcome bottle of sparkling wine disappeared from the fridge the very day we had decided to try it, should have drunk it earlier! We made reservations at the Mirabello and The Culinarium restaurants as soon as we arrived as we are not fans of buffet meals, that said there is a huge choice of lovely dishes available at the buffet, we just prefer a more intimate setting. The food at both restaurants was excellent but the choices can be repetitive when you have allergies although when asked they were able to remove any shellfish or ham from the meal. We ate lunch at the Mirabello every day, always lovely food and great service every time, it is such a lovely location and the staff are excellent. We love the lobby bar, great service from the staff all the time. We did miss the Black and White Stripes this year but there was some good entertainment during our stay. The wifi availability was definitely an improvement over previous years, it was nice to have availability in the room. I am sure we will be back again as we have enjoyed ourselves so much during each stay.
