"Pleasant relaxing holiday"
Visited with my partner last year. Overall we had a great experience although there were a few hiccups- some more, some less significant. The hotel is very nice and clean, big rooms with patio/ balcony, we received a free bottle of wine and fruit basket on arrival and a glass of prosecco at reception when checking in- very nice surprise. The beach area is nice although most of it is rocky with a small patch of sand and sun loungers on that patch very close together so we didn't spend much time there. There is a hut on the beach with water sports but all very expensive so we didn't use any. We had a garden bungalow close to the main pool and already on the second day noticed that the smells from the nearby Mirabella restaurant are reaching our patio and our room. By the afternoon the smell of kebab was so bad I was literally hurling. We requested a room change but this wasn't possible straight away and my partner kept being told to come back to reception later and ended up having to have a few stern words. We were eventually moved the next day and received a much nicer room with sea view- if I were to return to this hotel I would definitely go for one of those rooms instead of a garden bungalow. Do bear in mind this hotel is built on a hill and there are lots of steps and inclines- not good if you're unfit or having trouble moving around. Also don't even try grabbing one of the sunloungers by the pool- people reserve them at 7:30 in the morning (usually rude middle aged Brits), was once sunbathing there and when I went to the loo a rude bloke who missed his 8am slot just threw my stuff on the floor and took the sunlounger. Hotel should really enforce their no- reservation policy. Atmosphere on the beach was much more relaxed. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and this was great- loads of stuff included. Food of very high quality, both in buffet and a la carte restaurants. We actually preferred eating dinners in the main restaurant as there was more choice and food very good. Greek Night was great. I read some people complaining that not all drinks are included- this is true but which ones are is clearly marked on the menu and there is plenty of choice so this is just bellyaching. Staff in the Mirabella restaurant and beach bar were great, very efficient. We did have trouble ordering drinks at breakfast and lunch in the buffet restaurant which seemed understaffed during those times. Staff in foyer bar were slow and often seemed arrogant. There is also a lot of entertainment and activities going on during the day (wine tasting, yoga, aerobics etc) and in the evenings so you won't be bored. The hotel is quite far from Elounda town but taxis are cheap and quick. Final hiccup- we wanted to rent a car from car rental desk in the hotel but the man was rarely there so we had to wait around and chase him around over 2 days to finally get a car. Overall very good though and I would return
Fabulous room with great vista. Breakfast and dinner buffet second to none. Beach within 5 minutes walk and great inlet for swimming in the sea. So good, that we didn't even try the swimming pools. Would not recommend for the infirm as very hilly. Walk to Elounda about 20 minutes and well worth the visit. Would definitely visit again. And to top it all, the weather was the best.
"Beautiful resort, can't wait to come back!"
We arrived from a late flight and was greeted with cool flannels and drinks. Check in was very quick and we were shown to our rooms shortly after. The rooms are beautiful and kept very very clean, they also have a well stocked mini bar and coffee making facilities. They provide you with towelling robes and slippers and even have a pillow menu. Most of the rooms have a view facing the sea. Wifi is mainly in the lobby but at times I was lucky enough to have signal in my room. The food was nice and well laid out with a good variety and you can see everything was very fresh. Both the restaurant and lobby bar (with seating areas outside) are surrounded by (display) pools. The spa is lovely, it's located on the same floor as the hotel shop which is well stocked and reasonably priced. The pool area and private beach is also nice, quiet and very clean. The thing that swung it for me is that this is an adults only resort, it's location is not far from the village itself which was an €8.00 cab ride away. Down there you will find plenty of nice places to eat too if you want to get out of the hotel. I found the staff very friendly, as were the guests. I stayed during the Easter celebrations and was pleasantly surprised by the hamper that was left in my room prior to the end of my stay which I thought was a nice touch (thank you!) :) I loved this resort so much that I booked to come again this year so I very much look forward to staying with you again.
"there are 3 steps to heaven but a lot more to the pool bar"
Ok booked as a honey moon and when we arrived ,wow look impresiive Taken to our room in the main block and thats were it seemed to fall down . Our room is the one shown in a tui brochure and its not 5 star . Secon night store cuboard was banging as lock brocken so asked in morning if they could fix this . So third nite it was banging again ,when i inquired at reception they assured me it was sorted and would check again for me . We did then ask if we could get a parrasol for out balcony as all the room except ours had lovely shaded area , but the look on the receponsit face when i asked was rather blank and a dont care stare .So our lovely sun terrace was unusable for our holiday . Our dressing gowns were rather tired and holes in them with staining on furniture and marks on the wall . Not what you would expect in a 5 star room . The food is good but would be nice to seem some smiles and not that there our other places to eat in the evening but there is a extra charge for this . Sun beds are also in short supply with many being reserved all day and staff not monitering this at all. Pool bar is about 40 steps down and up from the bar and a man made beach with again reserved sun beds . If your not up and about before 9 ish you wont get a sun bed . There is a lovely spot at the top by the main hotel for evening drinks and the staff there our a credit the the hotel and they have moved the smokers to the out part of the area so you dont need to sit with them . Location is very quite and thats why we chose the hotel
