"Sofia weekend "
Lovely hotel with lots of character , large rooms ( we upgraded to executive ) , helpful staff , clean rooms and decent continental breakfast Spa has a large sauna and steam room and plenty of room to chill out
"In the Heart of Sofia, Elegance"
Room was at the third floor of 9 floors, excellent bistrot to have dinner or lunch, not costly, with all sorts of local food. Peaceful. Rooms are very elegant and well kept, with all facilities available. Out of the hotel there are steps leading to a small park that is behind the old King's Residence, and from there, another park in a big square where the Opera is. In other words, it's in the heart of Sofia. And anywhere is easily reachable with taxi's going everywhere, not costly.
"Beautiful hotel, good value for money"
We stayed here in August 2016. The hotel was a real bargain (80€ for a double room!) and very classy. Our room was just like the one in the main picture on this page, with a large bed, soft and firm pillows, and a comfortable seating area. The bathroom was amazing with a very big shower and toiletries by L'Occitane. Everything was spotless clean although I was under the impression that the furniture was a bit old. The area we stayed in was quiet especially at night. The breakfast buffet was very rich and included Bulgarian delicacies (banitsa, palacinke, local cakes) as well as continental breakfast options (pastries, ham, eggs, cheese, fruit and vegs, different types of bread). The staff was smiling and professional and spoke good English. The Roman ruins at the hotel entrance look absolutely beautiful and give it a unique atmosphere. Highly recommended.
"Nice ruins, but rooms aren't much newer!!"
OK, so that is a bit unfair, but the unusual setting surrounding the ruins is the most interesting part of the hotel. Stayed for 3 nights on business trip. Breakfast was OK, although unspectacular. Room was actually cold (unusual for most hotels) and the air heating struggled to get the temperature up. Furnishings were ok generally, but a bit old fashioned and the curtains particularly were very thin. Bathroom was fine. Did not go to the spa, so cannot comment on that. Location was quite good to walk to the cathedrals and the old town was a bit further. So, nothing massively wrong, but I would look for something more modern next time.
I'd booked, upgraded to suite, check in was easy, room facilities good. Room decent size with seating area, smart bathroom and large balcony. Niggles. Kettle, mugs and sugar sachets, no tea or coffee. Asked at reception, was accused of using it. Explained no. Asked for sachets to be sent up. Went out, on return no sachets. Bulgarian friend contacted reception. Told we only got them on arrival, they weren't replaced. Explained they hadn't been there on arrival. Asked again that they send up. What arrived were two cups of strong black coffee, for which they charged. The bed in the suite is 200cm wide but they only supply a 160 cm duvet. Weird.
