A classic and timeless hotel. Recommend to anyone looking for great location and historic architecture. Rooms are elegant and clean. Atmosphere is like no other due to style of architecture and timeless feel.
"Amazing Historic Hotel"
We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore for the weekend. The hotel and grounds are very elegant and luxurious. The staff was extremely friendly and engaging. The history of this resort is very interesting. Every president since Herbert Hoover has stayed there. There is a "mystery room" that was a place to drink during prohibition...ask the staff to see it. The Tequila Sunrise drink was invented here...and the make a great one! Highly recommend!
"Hard to find your way around"
My sister and I stayed in a queen double with my eight year old and her six year old. The room was fine. It was a little awkward because there was no divider on the patio between us and the party in the room next us. The main pool has good food service, but the restaurant by the main pool was not very good. I would not eat there (we did dinner one night and breakfast our last morning and neither was very good.) We were constantly getting list because the accommodations are spread out and the signage is not very good. Room service breakfast was good, albeit the food was not warm when it arrived. They brought the kids a whole lot of whipped cream to go with the hot chocolate, which was a hit. If I stayed there again, I would try to stay in the main building.
"Flashy outside, not so great inside"
This hotel was designed by Albert McArthur, not Frank Lloyd Wright. An article on the subject says you can tell because Wright was a master of inside spaces and the Biltmore is very beautiful outside but the inside is like a Motel 6. I found that apt, the public spaces are beautiful, great grounds, great little putting course but the rooms are at best average on the inside. Placed into a room looking over the parking lot and the patio door (to a shared patio) was broken and couldn't be locked (they did fix it promptly though). For the price I have stayed in much better rooms. Shortly after arrival they charged my credit card for the mini bar. I called and asked why since we had barely checked in and they said it was a pre-authorization or probably a charge from the last guest's use of the mini bar. Wait, what' How can you charge me for the last guest' When they didn't remove the charge as promised I went down to the front desk and was told the same story and that they had removed the charge so stop worrying about why we would charge you for the last guest had you not noticed. The restaurants were good but the ordinary rooms and poor handling of the mini bar charge soured me on the hotel.
Over the top service, lovely grounds and buildings. Usually stay in the casitas which we prefer. If you are fortunate have an opportunity to stay here, do not pass it up. It has been recently refurbished.
