"Beautiful hotel and grounds, but not a 5 star experience"
We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore last November. First the positives (which are many!). Hotel and grounds are beautiful, pools very clean and welcoming, food was good and staff friendly, for the most part. We had a tour of the place and learned a great deal about it's rich history, gentleman giving tour was very knowledgeable. Couple negatives - upon check-in, we asked about the possibility of upgrading our room. Most hotels, especially the nicer ones we have stayed in, will usually upgrade you as a courtesy if they have enough availability. The young woman checking us in spent at least 10 minutes going through a large binder of rooms while cross-checking ones that were ready, only to inform us that she would be happy to upgrade us if we paid her an additional fee per night (over $100 per night extra!). We declined, and then she informed us that no standard rooms were available and we would need to wait until one was ready. We were checking in before the actual check in time so I have no way of knowing if she was being honest or not. But I will say that speaking to several other people that were staying at the hotel the same time as us, we learned that several of them were upgraded for free to beautiful rooms on the property, some without even asking, so that they could get right into a room without waiting. It seems to me a hotel should either do this across the board or not do it at all. Additionally, when we checked in, approximated 20 minutes later a maid entered the room with her master key, without knocking first. Luckily we were just unpacking and were fully dressed. She retrieved a bottle of cleaning fluid she had left in the room, but did not apologize for walking in on us. Certainly not acceptable. Other than that, our experience was good, although I'm not sure we will return here the next time we are in Phoenix.
"Beautiful resort. Cottage was pleasant but could use a few things"
We stayed two nights in one of the cottages (3 adults and 1 child). They were charming and well appointed but could use a few improvements. The fire pit didn't work. The propane flowed but the igniter was broken. We had to call engineering and they came twice and we ended up using matches. The bathroom only had one hook for towels and could have used a bunch more. If this sleeps four, there should be more. And while we had reserved the room for four, they only gave us 3 bath towels, so we had to get more from housekeeping. The bathroom was large because it included the bar/refrigerator, closet, toilet, bath, shower and sink. I wish the toilet had a pocket door or was separate because if you wanted to use the tub, no one could use the toilet. If you wanted to use the toilet in private, no one else could get to the closet or sink. At least there was a fan! I loved that the embassy suites had a sink outside of the toilet room (we stayed there one night too). The room seemed to run a little cold the first night. Housekeeping showed up rather early each day, and we were still getting ready. The first day we came back from breakfast had to ask her to leave to let us prepare to exit. It was too weird trying to get ready with her making the bed and the bucket in the middle of the bathroom. I would have hoped she would have automatically moved to another empty room and come back later. The day we checked out (which is at noon) they showed up at 8:45. We were leaving by 9 but still, that seemed rather early. I realize this review might come off as very high maintenance, but for the price we pay to stay here, I expect a high level of service. The pools were great and the grounds were beautiful. It was lovely to be here and we enjoyed walking around.
"Loved the Arizona Biltmore"
From the moment you arrive at this iconic hotel you are treated with the utmost respect and kindness. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous and the amenities are top-notch. We had golfers that enjoyed their experience and I had a private tennis lesson with Josh, who is just great...friendly, knowledgeable and fun! I would have had more lessons but we had rain! I also enjoyed the yoga classes which were never canceled. The food at the pool and restaurants was delicious - we enjoyed staying at the hotel for dinners because we so enjoyed Frank & Alberts. Everyone you pass m, smiles and asks if they can assist you in any way! We Will be back and we highly recommend you go!!!!
The Biltmore is a fantastic looking hotel with a great history the check In staff are friendly and welcoming the hotel has free wifi in all the rooms . The pools are heated . Great little restaurant at the pool side . There's table tennis and proper tennis as well as a gym . The bar staff , as all the staff are friendly. two things I didn't like the coffee and tea in your room has a horrible airplane type powdered milk which you wouldn't expect from a 5 star, so you can only make one coffee in your room .And some times if there's a big conference going on it can get very busy , but saying that the bar staff work well .the hotel offers a free bus to the fashion shops up the road otherwise there's nothing around the Biltmore , there are a few shops on site and a takeaway shop that does good food . if you want a relaxing holiday then this is the place for you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"Amazing historic hotel, sadly needs a lot of love."
Our company hosted a group of 30 doctors at this resort on 02/09/17-02/12/17. Given some of the wonderful experiences at other Waldorf Astoria properties I was excited that this was going to be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly let down by this resort. The hotel rooms are nicely appointed but there are maintenance problems galore. The food here is not fit for foodies either. The saddest part is that this place has amazing history, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired design doesn't include cockroaches and I don't think he would stand for the holes in the walls. Please see the pictures for more specifics.
