"Fine, but with a little effort could be fabulous."
This hostelry was chosen by the tour company with which we travelled. We found it more than adequate, although we isolated changes which could make it into the five-star establishment it would like to be. First, the positives. The room was a good size and well lit. The beds were comfortable, and the duvets not so thick that they smother the sleeper in warmer weather. The bathroom was fine. Management has taken mobility issues into account, as evidenced by the presence and placement of grab bars in the tub-shower. The breakfast was bountiful, and the room in which it was served very attractive. Service at breakfast was swift and attentive. Food in the restaurant just off the main lobby was good, if a bit pricey. Wine by the glass was a distinctly stingy pour, although the wine itself was pleasant. Suggested improvements include injecting a bit of warmth into the attitudes of the lobby and restaurant staff. We found them impersonal, unsmiling, dismissive, and cold. When I asked one of the male staff in the restaurant about the size of a starter I was considering sharing, my question was treated with exasperation, as though it had been silly. The location of the hotel was well suited to tourists and their interests. Warning, however: our bus driver from Regensburg got lost, and when he inquired for the Art Nouveau hotel, none of the people he asked knew what he was talking about. We did better with taxi drivers by asking for the Palace Hotel. Clearly, a conscious effort had been made to include art nouveau elements in the decor, with sone success. The lobby is looking a bit worn as to upholstery. A label identifying the sculpture title and artist name of the bronze lady fast asleep on the lobby floor would make her less confusing. Final note: the toilets in the rooms are very strange. If you stay there, you'll see why.
"Three night stay in September"
Wonderful hotel in an excellent location. The concierges were very helpful while we were there and also very responsive by email prior to our trip. They made all of our transfer arrangements from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to Erlangen to catch a Viking Cruise. Our driver George, with Limousine Czech Republic, was very professional and made our 3 hour trip to Erlangen most enjoyable. I only wish we had hired him for some private local tours as he is extremely knowledgeable about the area. Big thumbs up all the way around for this hotel.
"Three night stay following Viking Cruise"
What a wonderful stay in this "Art Nouveau" styled hotel. Pure elegance. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant in the lobby. The service for this and at Breakfast was impeccable. The front desk manager booked a couple of trips for us without any problem and the Bedroom was large with every facility. All in all we felt like royalty. Another bonus was that the Hotel is within a hundred yards or so from Wenceslas Square and 10 minutes walk from the centre of the old town. Prague is a marvellous place, so would like to visit again. I would certainly make the Art Nouveau Palace my first choice.
Locaton is super. Breakfast ends at 10.30. They collect everything and open the windows even it is freezing at this time. This is very unusual. In our last morning at 8.40 cleaning lady opened the door to see inside. What kind of "palace" is this''''''
"Great place to stay"
Able to walk to many of the sites. The room was very comfortable, clean, and quite spacious. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The breakfast buffet had every imaginable food and best of all mimosas. I would stay here again.
