"Brilliant experience at the Ashling"
I have stayed at the Ashling Hotel on a number of occasions and attended many meetings. The experience was excellent, from the service of the reception staff, the clean and spacious rooms and the excellent service and food in the restaurant. The Hotel is very close to Heuston Railway station and the LUAS light rail in to Dublin only a couple of minutes walk from the Hotel.
"Lovely hotel. "
We had a great stay at the Ashling hotel. Great, friendly staff. Lovely hotel and bar with great service. Only minor issue was when my partner asked for softer pillows for the room and we were told they would be brought up... but they never arrived. It didn't spoil our stay at all and we would definitely stay there again but just a point to note.
I stayed here for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year with my boyfriend and we couldn't fault the hotel. Good location within walking distance of the Guinness factory and the train/bus station. Very easy to travel round on the buses/tram and it only takes about 5-10 minutes on the tram to reach the city centre. As expected there are plenty of pubs/bars to choose from and we spent quite a lot of our time experiencing these! The Guinness factory tour is a must do, really interesting and a great day out. We also visited the Zoo which is one of the best Zoos we have visited. We walked to this from our hotel and it took about 20-25 minutes, it is slightly up hill though so be warned if you're wearing new shoes (i made that error!) The enclosures are very large and you can see that the animals are very well cared for, would definitely recommend this for a day out. On our last evening we did a Ghost Bus tour, having never done one of these before we weren't sure what to expect but we had a great time. It had the right mixture of scary and funny and i would definitely do another one, we did the usual of stopping off at a grave yard etc and you also visit Dublin Castle which was great for pictures. The only fault we have is that we got ripped off by a taxi driver from the airport to our hotel, he charged us €50 for a €20 trip which was disappointing. We initially thought it was because of it being bank holiday but after speaking to another taxi driver he confirmed that this wasn't the case, make sure you either say you have been to Dublin before or that you know how much it should cost from the airport to your hotel to avoid being over charged!
