"Big lobby. Nothing special."
Hotel is OK, with a very good breakfast. Not a 5 star. There is a metro station near. Not many places to eat or buy anything in the surroundings. Mattress too hard . Room is big. Good place to change money
Stayed here during a large convention in the city, and it was efficient for that type of stay. The rooms tend to smell of mildew but eventually they opened one of the windows to let in Beijing air from outside and it helped. The meeting rooms were particularly strong smelling of mildew. I had a massage and it was fine, except there was a problem using the discount coupon that I had been given when checking in and the receptionist interrupted the massage several times about it, which made it less relaxing. Breakfast had good options but tends to get very crowded and I kept losing my table to groups (I was alone so they'd take it over when I stood up to get something) so it was better on mornings I went very early, or very late.
"Nice hotel near Sunlitan"
We had a very nice stay in Beijing and a comfortable room. The facilities and restaurants are pretty good - although the pool is cool and more for serious workouts than for kids play (our son thought it was too cold to venture in!) Easy to get to the subway or even walk to Sunlitan, if you are so inclined.
"Good room, good location"
The first room we were put in smelled like smoke and was supposed to be non-smoking. There was no trouble in getting switched to a different room. Other than the smell of smoke, both rooms were nicely done. A lot of hotels in China can have an odor to them - chemicals in the furniture, floor, cigarette smoke, food, etc. This hotel did not - it smelled clean and fresh (other than noted above.) The rooms were spacious and clean. The air conditioner did not go as cool as we would have liked, but this seems typical for China. The bed was really, really firm - more likely plain old hard - but oddly, we slept okay on it. It was advertised as tub/shower combo - there was no tub. The lobby area was huge. There was a really neat restaurant, which we did not go to, wherein your table was actually a floating boat. The pool was freezing cold. The staff at the desk spoke English. Most everyone else did not. There was shopping and restaurants to walk to. Cabs were always available. Pearl Market was about 15 minutes away by cab - great fun shopping. Silk Market about 15 minutes away also - not what it used to be - don't go unless you want to spend a lot more money than necessary. All in all our experience at this hotel was good. Would stay again.
"Pretty average all around!"
Asia Hotel is OK all around, but nothing much jumps out as exceptional. Building and rooms could use a bit of a make-over. The location is OK, near to some shops and restaurants, but nothing immediately close by that was very exciting. Best part was the breakfast (included in my room charge, but 160 yuan if you have to pay separately, which I would say is not worth it).
