Good clean accommodations centrally located a 10 minute walk from Roma Termini. While the area is dated, felt safe in walking to restaurant and back. Great if you are just over nighting in Rome before proceeding onward. Staff is courteous and helpful.
I made a return visit to this hotel after one year. I was not disappointed. The staff were as welcoming as I had remembered and the rooms spotlessly clean. Our room this trip was just off the garden which made the view in the morning a very pleasant one. The breakfast was a selection of hams, cheeses, eggs, fruit, juices tea, coffee, cereals and bread, something to suit everyone. I look forward to my next visit to this hotel.
"Decent pick in Rome"
This hotel is like a 5 minute walk from Termini Station; very convenient for getting around the city. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. The room was well equipped and we had a first floor room with a beautiful private terrace overlooking the garden. That was wonderful! A/C worked very well. Only 2 English channels: CNN & BBC. (We brought our own hard drive with movies, so it didn't matter.) The hotel says it has a bar a restaurant. I'm not sure if it was off season or what, but the bar nor restaurant never seemed to be open. We just brought a bottle of wine back with us and enjoyed our terrace so it didn't matter. The free breakfast was good. It consisted of ham, cheese, salami, eggs, and lots of pastries. Also juice, coffee and water. Our only slight complaint was that overall the hotel seemed a bit "tired" and the size of the shower was super small. We stayed in 4 hotels on our trip and this one was super small and slippery. Other than that, this a very decent choice for a hotel while staying in Rome. Our price seemed good. About 165 Euro per night. Wifi was free for up to 3 devices.
"Just OK, convenient to train station"
Just OK, better options available stayed just one night to be near the train station prior to our return home. Rooms are very small, drab and dingy. Bed was uncomfortable. I have previously stayed at other hotels near the train station in the Rome, and there are better hotels in the same price range.
We stayed at the Astoria Garden Hotel after a Venice - Rome cruise. For anyone needing to access the main train station it is in a good location, just a few easy blocks away, as well as near hop-on hop-off bus routes. We had a ground floor room, facing a tropical garden with tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy peace, quiet and a drink. Ground floor was a good thing, as an electrical storm had disabled the elevator. The room was bare-bones basic; beds were tabletop firm yet comfortable. Being on the garden, completely away from streets, it was absolutely quiet. Staff are very friendly; they arranged transport from the cruise terminal at Civitavecchia and to the airport. this is not the most economical way to travel, but it is convenient. The included breakfast was typical continental and good, but a toaster would be nice. A box of facial tissues in the room would have been nice too, but as I said, it was bare-bones basic.
