"Good for business"
The location is convenient for business travelers. The rooms are large andInternet speed is good, too. If you are not smoker, you should say clear at the reception. They offer smoking rooms, too and it is better to ask for a room not near to smoking rooms. In my case, after complain of smell of cigarates in no smoking room, the reception changed my room.
We visited Athenaeum Intercontinental in October, November and February with our family. We loved it. We stayed in three different types of room. The best one was a balcony suite with view to the Acropolis. Everything in the hotel was impeccable. The staff is polite, efficient friendly and eager to fulfill all your needs. Breakfast is great both at the club on the eighth floor and downstairs. The rooms and bathrooms are state-of-the-art and the bedding and mattresses excellent. Location is convenient especially if you have a car but we also used the local transport which was easy. We will definitely stay there next time in Athens.
This is a great hotel with very nice decoration, kind staff, and a great location. The hotel is ideal for tourism in Athens because it is almost in the middle of the city. It is just a 15-20 minutes walk to the base of the Acropolis and from there you can go pretty much all around the city. The rooms are very big and some of them have big balconies that can see the Acropolis. The hotel itself is very big and has a lot of shops and other things inside.
The hotel itself is situated in a not so pleasant area, although I think this is indicative of Athens as I stayed in a few areas and they were all pretty dire. However, this hotel offers a free shuttle bus which is worth it's wait in gold (you don't want to be walking around those streets trust me). The staff are lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. The room we had was spacious, clean and refreshing. One of the telephones didn't work and the water in the shower wasn't very hot, but aside of that it was very nice. The view was rubbish (roof tops of buildings) but we hadn't booked a room with a view so that was fine. We booked a table in the rooftop restaurant, the bar there is stunning with great views (although the views of the acropolis is further away than demonstrated in photographs). The cocktails are superb, however the food menu wasn't very good so we decided to eat in the Vienna restaurant on the ground floor. The food was divine. The staff was so chatty and lovely and the food was absolutely delicious (every course). If you are visiting Athens I would highly recommend staying here. The only other negative is that I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the internet.
We booked a king bed superior view room for 170€/night, and we only got the king bed! The room was neither superior, nor had a superior view, unless the view over the Syngrou Avenue is supposed to be superior! The worst thing however was that we were given a room as part of two joint, connecting rooms, separated with an extremely thin door, without being asked or told so. So when our noisy, young neighbors returned to their room at 6.00 am and they invited ALL their friends from their group to continue their party there, it was like we were all together in the same room, without privacy and silence at all. We had to call the reception twice before they bothered to send a security guard to ask them to be more quiet. Half an hour later, and after 2 more calls at the reception, the situation was exactly the same. Although we mentioned at the reception that we booked there in order to spend our wedding night, and furthermore I was pregnant, we didn't feel that they did their best to fix the situation. After a while, I went personally at the reception and asked for the manager. It was then that they offered to ask them once again to be more quiet and asked us if we would like to change a room. I guess that the most proper thing was to ask them change a room, and not us! We refused so, but at least we took a late check-out option and the promise that they will upgrade our room at a potential future booking. But the whole experience was so terrible, that we do not think to return there again..
