"Nice hotel good for business "
Here in a large work conference. Hotel is bright clean and friendly. Rooms are excellent. I stayed in 918 and had a lovely view of the Parthenon. Food was mainly buffet as was catering for large numbers so can't comment on the menu but the buffet options were numerous and of good quality. Very expensive to drink in the bar with a pint at over €10 and a gin and tonic at €15. Over all a good hotel bit a little out of the way from what I would call the historic centre.
"Athens - Annual Sales Conference"
I stayed at the Intercontinental Athenaeum for a Sales Conference at the beginning of 2017. The hotel has excellent conference and event facilities, accommodating very large groups easily. The service at the hotel was excellent - in every area, from check in, bar staff, waiters and waitresses, event hosts and concierge. The food we had at the hotel at breakfast and lunch was fantastic - a great selection including some great local dishes. My room was a little dated - some floors have had a update but I was on the 5th floor. Having said that the room was large, wth a comfortable bed, good wifi and spotlessly clean. All rooms have are well equipped with minibar, hairdryer and iron and board. A great stay.
"Amazing hotel. "
Very satisfied by the service. Very friendly staff. Especially Mrs Fofo at the restaurant was extremely professional. Also housekeeping staff very polite. Not far from the town centre. There is also a complementary shuttle bus almost every half an hour going to the centre.
"An unfortunate choice"
Chose this hotel as I am an elite ihg member. Not a great choice. In residential area no quick access to metro with little around apart from a great little coffee shop(Taia) down a street running away from the front of entrance of the intercontinental. Taia's breakfast was 6€ a godsend when after the hotel tried to charge us 72€ for breakfast on arrival despite having emailed earlier for help adding breakfast at ihg rate. I changed to another hotel in town closer to all the attractions. If you are a tourist the options in town are better. This is a pricy hotel without the class.
"A good standard hotel. "
A very grand looking hotel set off a main road. The surrounding area is not much to look at but the inside makes up for the area. The hotel has a huge grand reception area. You can lost definitely tell this is the reception of a good hotel. I stayed in a twin room on the 7th floor and The furnishings look a bit dated for the grandness of the entrance. Well equipped room with regards the tv/mini bar/free safe/tea coffee and a complimentary bottle of water. One thing that disappoints in this hotel is the quality of the iron and ironing board. A top hotel should at least have a steam iron and not just a hot metal plate iron on a cheap ironing board. People travel and clothes get creased and it's just not up to the job ! The breakfast in the hotel as a huge selection to choose from. Meats, cheeses, bacon, scrambled and poached eggs, sausages, pancakes, fruits, toast.the list really does go on. A really good selection and really tasty. The service in the hotel is as you would expect for this standard. Courteous and professional. As always with hotels of this grandeur come the bar bill to match. €15.00 for a gin and tonic. I rest my case !! Location wise not in the most prettiest place. Plaka, the old town is only a 5 minute can ride. Here there are selection of bars, shops and restaurants and you can view the Acropolis and visit the museum if that's your bag.
