"Good location, secure parking, great find!"
Stayed here at the end of our SA trip prior to flying home. Easy to leave the car here in the secure car park and get the bus into central CT - bus terminal just 5 mins walk away. Plenty bars/restaurants/shops close by, and of course the sea! Spacious room and balcony (we were in the penthouse) and super views - great spot for a sundowner! Only downside was a fire alarm at 2am due to an idiot guest smoking but the staff were very apologetic for this, even though not their fault at all.
"Atlantic Affair Boutique Hotel"
I cannot praise the staff and facilities of the Atlantic Affair Boutique Hotel highly enough. The hotel is secure, well-equipped (there's even a heated towel rack!), with excellent cable TV and WiFi, and in a great centrally located neighborhood. The manager (thank you, Natasha!) went out of her way to ensure that our (5-day) stay with them was the best it could possibly be. She was also very helpful with tips and directions, a cold drink when we came in from a long day of touring, laundry service, and anything else we needed. Highly recommended!
"Great stay ! Huge room !"
Perfect stay at the Atlantic ! Location is excellent, close to the beach. The room was spacious, bed very comfy and big, as the shower/bathroom. We spent three nights there and almost felt like home ! Definitely recommended !
My husband and I recently stayed here for my 40th birthday celebration in Cape Town. We were very impressed with the spacious room, equipped kitchen, mini bar, sitting area and lovely balcony. The staff was very friendly on check-in. I can definitely recommend this hotel for its location, safety and beautiful clean rooms.
"didn't get the room we booked"
We had booked a Luxury Superior Suite for 6 nights at this hotel through our German Travel Agent. The hotel voucher issued by their South African partner stated this. When we arrived we received a friendly welcome from the receptionist Alice and were given a key to room no. 204. When we had a look at the room we realized that it is a Superior Suite and not a Luxury Superior Suite. We went back down to Alice to report the problem. She said that they do not have any Luxury Superior Suites available at the moment and that it looks as if somebody at the hotel made a mistake when entering the booking into their computer. She gave us the option to take the Superior Suite and accept a refund of ZAR 7.259,- or to look ourselves for a room at a different hotel in Cape Town. We had booked this vacation a year in advance and taken great care to choose the hotel for its location and for the suite with a separate bedroom and a full kitchen. And now being tired after a long day travelling we were supposed to look ourselves for an adequate replacement for the suite they did not give us' This was an insult. We told Alice that we take the Superior Suite and will accept the refund but that we will complain to our travel agent. We had booked 18 days on the Garden Route as a package and didn't know how much of the lump sum we had payed was for the Luxury Superior Suite at this hotel. We moved our things from the car to our room and then went to reception to collect the refund. Now Alice claimed that not the hotel made the mistake but that the South African partner of our German travel agent had inquired a Superior Suite, had been offered a Superior Suite and had booked a Superior Suite as per the offer. Apparently the South African partner of our travel agent only mentioned the Luxury Superior Suite when they re-confirmed the booking a few weeks before our stay. The hotel didn't notice the discrepancy then. Alice credited the ZAR 7.259,- to our credit card and we went back to the room to write an e-mail to our German travel agent. They replied that the mistake was not made by them or their South African Partner but by the hotel. They also informed us that Cape Town is fully booked and they couldn't provide us with an adequate replacement for the Luxury Superior Suite that we didn't get. They offered us a free dinner and we accepted that as an apology for a mistake they say they didn't make. On the 2nd day of our stay we were contacted by Natasha from the hotel asking us to see her at reception. She wrote: "You were refunded on the understanding that you would be looking for another hotel to stay at however now that you are staying with us we will need to retract the refund." We never said that we would look for another hotel. We contacted our German travel agent again to find out what we should do now. They advised that the refund we received was for the full price for 6 nights in a Luxury Superior Suite. We should let the hotel retract the refund and then we would receive a refund for the difference of price between the two room types through our travel agent. The hotel had offered to pay for a dinner for us as a good will gesture though they still claimed that they didn't make the mistake. This did not fit into our plans and in the end we negotiated one nights free stay in the Superior Suite. We still do not know who made the mistake and we will never find out. We can only say that the behaviour of the hotel asking us to look ourselves for a new room and for giving an incorrect refund was unprofessional. If we had booked the Superior Suite we would have been satisfied with it apart from the tiny bathroom. The sink was so small that it was no good for more than washing your hands. But we had been looking forward to having a separated bedroom and a lounge area so that we would not have to sit on the bed in the evening to read.
