"Wonderful hotel with top-class service"
I have stayed at the Augustine Hotel many fimes over the last years and have seen it change from Rocco Forte to independently managed to finally the Luxury Collection and it was always great.Of Course now, due to my Platinum Status with Starwood, I have experienced wonderful upgrades to signature suites, but even the "normal rooms" are marvellous. Recently I had to fly to Prague last Minute for a deal closing when I had expected to fly home, instead I found myself in the Augustine in the evening with no fresh clothes. A situation that is easily handled in Asia, but normally a nightmare in Europe. The Augustine staff quickly assured me, that their laundry service would have everything done overnight (even without surcharge) and my shirt and clothes were delivered on-time next morning. That is what makes a great hotel, besides the obvious stunning architecture, good food and pleasant interior design.
"Amazing hotel, nice ambiance, great bar and amenities!"
We actually booked the Grand Mark Prague for our stay in Prague. They had electricity problems on our arrival so they offered that we stay for our first night at the Augustine instead. At our arrival we were treated as if we were their guests (and not just shipped off there from another hotel). The hotel has an old monastery feel turned into a charming modern hotel. We were treated to a luxury room which was spacious, clean and absolutely perfect. The bathroom was extremely large, with marble floors, a large bath and a shower. Could have use a couple more towels but I'm sure they would have gotten us some if we had asked. Super large counter space, two sinks, and even an American outlet!!! They thought of everything to make the room comfortable and convenient! The hotel is conveniently located near Charles bridge in a safe area of town. We were also treated to complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. Service was outstanding and the food was fresh, cooked to order, with additional buffet selections of cold cuts, pastries, and more. Tons of juices, bubbly, really there was everything you could want there! The concierge and front desk staff were very helpful and kind and their English was on point! We also went to the bar in the evening where we had some delicious drinks and snacks. Service was perfect there as well, and it's worth a visit for the delicious cocktails, the home beer and the atmosphere alone. We were very pleased with our short stay and would highly recommend this hotel!!!
"Did I stay at a Restoration Hardware'"
The property, the rooms, the common areas are all beautiful and tastefully decorated. It did feel like I was staying in a Restoration Hardware - muted, modern colors, clean lines, both warm yet cold. Hardwood floors in the room, great windows and my room afforded a view of the castle...if I hung out of it and looked left. I got an upgrade due to Plat status and had a spacious room. A bed, tv and sitting area (with some color macarons) in the main area. A office/dressing area connects the bedroom to the bathroom. Having a desk that looks out a window is a nice bonus. Here, there was also a single US outlet. The bathroom was really pretty amazing. A shower, a bath, double vanity, toilet and bidet. All the finishes in the room are high end and it's clean. The (king) bed, is actually two beds connected to one another so if you might feel that slight dip between the mattresses. Despite this, its a comfortable bed, albeit on the firm side. There's a nice big tv in the room but you're not going to get any tv shows in English aside from news channels. I did have a very loud walker staying above me so not sure sound isolation was very good. If you're a sensitive sleeper, bring some earplugs. Overall, it wasn't very noisy - it's a pretty serene place. Of course, since this is a luxury property, there are bathrobes and slippers. Umbrellas in the room and also at the hotel entrance which came in handy one day. The staff all speak English and seem to want to make your stay enjoyable. Upon checking out, I ran into some issues with my bill as in a bunch of stuff I didn't eat/use/understand were on there. It wasn't enough to be late leaving to catch my flight but was annoying nonetheless. Since I used points for my stay, I felt that the nominal amount I was being mis-charged wasn't the biggest deal in the grand scheme of my trip. The hotel doesn't offer a complimentary shuttle so I took an Uber from the airport. This turned out to be a great deal - very friendly driver and less risk of being ripped off. Much has been written about the dubious ways of the taxis. When I was returning to the airport, the Uber was going to take 20-30 minutes so I took a taxi and paid about 4 times the amount of the Uber. So, if you want to take an Uber, give yourself plenty of time for it to arrive at your hotel, especially if you're leaving in the morning. The hotel is pretty conveniently located. It's about a 5 minute walk to the famous Charles Bridge which will bring you into Old Town and most of the city. It sits in between 2 tram stops and one train stop so if you want to use public transport, it's easy. An all day pass is about 100 czk. Also, taking Ubers in the city is pretty easy. All in all, it's a beautiful property. If you're service needs are high, this may not be the best place for you. If you're lower maintenance, it'll be great.
From check in to the room this hotel surpassed my expectations. Having come from the W in AMS prior, where the service was sub par to say the least, this was a welcome surprise. It was the best culmination to our trip. The bar is fabulous, the spa spectacular and the rooms beyond! Highly highly recommend.
Built in an old monastery. The inside has been redone but some old touches remain. The door to our bathroom was the original iron door from the monastery. Every touch is luxurious. The bathroom floor was heated as were the towels. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate. The service was impeccable at every level. Centrally located less than 5 minutes from the Charles Bridge. Would return in a heartbeat.
