"Gem in Prague"
There are several luxury hotel choices in Prague, but the Augustine is a true standout for providing not only lovely accommodations and top notch service, but for its sense of place and unique offering. The hotel is part of an old monastery (with 4 monks still living on grounds!) - the gardens, bar area, and architecture of the property all provide a special historic feel while also being fresh and updated (not "stale" or "old" at all). The breakfast was excellent. The location is very central, just a few minutes walk to the Charles Bridge, but is a quiet refuge from the loudest and most crowded areas...the best of both worlds for me. I'd happily return if in the area again and would definitely recommend this property!
"Honeymoon small trip"
We've been here for 4 nights after our wedding. The location is superb: 10 minute walking from all the main attractions of the city. The hotel itself was a monastery that was then turned into a hotel. It's different from the usual 5 stars hotel, it has a particular flair and we just loved it! It is not cheap, of course, but it's worth every penny. Service was excellent and also the cocktails good. Special mention to their beer and own brewery. Just awesome!
We stayed 3 nights at the Augustine and were very happy with the facilities, the staff, and the location. Located just under the castle, it was a short (5-10 min') walk across either one of two bridges to get to the center of the old town. Our room, despite being on the street side of the hotel, was quite (even with the tram running by all the time). It was simply but well appointed. The bathroom was large and had a great shower, which in Europe is sometimes an issue. A very nice breakfast was included in our rate. Great bar too (try their 4-drink tasting special!). The concierge was very helpful in booking dinners for us, and the rest of the staff always had a warm smile and greeting when coming/going from the hotel. Highly recommend the Augustine.
"A quiet oasis in a sometimes chaotic crowded Prague"
A joy to return to after a busy day enjoying the best Prague has to offer. This is a sophisticated quality property which provides a wonderful level of service and attention to all their visitors. The bar is a re-interpretation of the Refectory used by the Augustine monks for their morning and evening repast. Vaulted frescoed ceilings are a delight, and on warm evenings the courtyard garden with a water wall offers quiet contemplation and planning for the following days 'excursions'. Do yourself a favour and choose a relaxing alternative to the frenetic large scale tourist hotels which tend to assault the senses rather than soothe the soul.
Great service and welcome. Good breakfast. Very spacious rooms, and nice bathroom. Fantastic sauna and hammam (both were at high temperatures). The location is very good as well. Not in the noisy/touristy city center, but right on the other side of the river of Charles bridge. Also on this side (mala strana) side of the river you had good bars and restaurants. Loved the location. I had a good stay. Liked the complimentatry shoe service.
