"Lovely hotel, outstanding Service"
Hotel is perfectly located in the middle of town, with modern decor, a lovely chilled bar and quality restaurant. Our room was lovely. The magic of this hotel however is the staff and the service we received absolutely everywhere. Check in was warm and friendly, and every time we walked into the lobby we were greeted with smiles and warm wishes. There is a ski shop in the basement, and the 2 guys were exceptional, handing us our boots each morning and taking our skis from us and putting them away for us each evening whilst asking about our day ( saving a lot of the faffing about element of a ski holiday !). The spa team were fabulous, we had 2 apres ski massages and they were great. On our last day we said we were leaving at 3pm, and they offered us a late check out, no cost. Finally, we got home and realised we'd forgotten our boots. They contacted us to let us know and have posted them back to us at no charge. I cannot praise this hotel and it's fabulous team highly enough, we will definitely return. Thank you Avenue Lodge

"A simply sublime combination; a superb hotel with brillaint staff"
We stayed for four nights half board. Avenue Lodge is situated in a great part of Val d'Isere, just a short walk from the ski/boot room to the slopes and, if there's loads of snow, (as there was for us), it was possible to ski back to the door. There's direct access into the main shopping and restaurant areas with plenty of fabulous restaurants and shops to visit. A simple and fresh breakfast each morning will set you up for the day and although we mainly ate out in the evening, we did have one meal in the hotel restaurant, which was delicious. The spar is delightful, providing there's not too many guests using the facilities. It's a shame there's only one Jacuzzi. However, with the hotel, spar and restaurant being as lovely as they are, it would be nothing without the excellent team that will look after you. They all speak good English but were very patient with me as I continue my quest to speak fluent French. We cant wait to return!
"Children at the SPA"
The hotel is excellent, specially the service. Starting at the reception, going through the bar, restaurant and ski shop, everybody was very kind and carefully. The room was also very good. Free internet and breakfast in the room made the diference. The only problem was the spa area. Children are allowed at the spa, which I think is wrong not only because of the security, but because it should be an area of tranquility.
"Mostly very good, with top ski service."
We visited early February, with one of us specifically for skiing, with this hotel having a perfect location for ski village access just five minutes walk in ski boots away, which is a big plus. The hotel has a pro shop in the basement of the hotel which provides ski equipment hire, and I must say that the staff are amazingly helpful, and there is a facility for storing ski boots overnight,so you're guaranteed dry and warm boots ready and waiting for you the following day, full marks and many thanks to them! There is also a pool and spa next to the shop in the hotel basement offering beauty treatments. The staff at this hotel are very welcoming and eager to please, and the helpful service goes quite a way to make your stay pleasurable. Our room was a classic room and was spacious with a good sized bathroom, and huge bed,we also had a balcony. The decor of the hotel may not suit everyone,as it is quite dark, and black wooden panelling continues the theme throughout the hotel and into the guest bedrooms, which could have an adverse effect on claustrophobics. Breakfast is served as is usual in the main dining room, and is fairly decent, but in my opinion not in line with a five star hotel. The food offering for dinner was very nice, when we booked for one night, but expensive, with wine prices matching, prices in Val d'Isere are eye watering generally. Now the negative opinion,we managed only two nights of decent sleep, there was noise from the room above,it was mentioned to reception, and in all fairness they offered a half bottle of champagne as way of an apology,I requested a different room, and I was assured that the noisy guests had checked out,but then only to be replaced by yet more noisy guests a day later.Just a tip may be to check on booking that the top floor could be quieter or to make sure that you are not below a family room, the rooms are not carpeted so I'm sure that sound insulation isn't the best it could be.
