Located in the main financial, shopping, cultural and monumental centre of the city, Ayre Hotel Astoria Palace is set only 100 metres from the Town Hall, very near to the Cathedral of Valencia and the entertainment district of Barrio del Carmen.
The hotel enjoys easy access to the Congress & Conventions Centre, the city of Sciences and Arts, the Trade Fair Centre, and the Malvarrosa Beach.
"Style and location "
Holding an excellent location within the old town the Astoria Palace is the perfect base for any stay in Valencia. Nestled on the edge of Plaza de Rodrigo Botet the sights of the old town are within easy reach. For those wishing to travel further afield the city's Railway/metro transport links are only 500m to the south of the hotel. The hotel itself is excellent value for money. The elegance of the decoration and furnishings is matched by the professionalism and politeness of the staff. Our family room was of a good size with plenty of facilities and comforts. The only slight issue was a running battle with the heavy-duty blackout blinds whose attachment integrity has diminished over the years! All-in-all the Astoria Palace definitely added to our Valencia experience and will be the first choice when we return in the future.
"It's position in the city is just perfect"
We spent a couple of days in Valencia with friends and we had been recommended to stay at the Astoria Palace mainly for its proximity to the centre of the city. We arrived by train with the hotel only 10 minutes away; set in a small square with bars and restaurants. Just perfect for popping out for a coffee or a glass of wine. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. We stayed on the 6th and 7th floor which entitled us to a welcome cocktail. The lounge bar on the ground floor was extremely comfortable and where else could you get a glass of wine and a tapas in a 4* hotel for €3. How good is that' All the staff we came in contact with were helpful and courteous. The city of course is lovely, lots to see but to get your bearings take the sight seeing bus which has 2 routes. Visit the food market and the cathedral. The ceramics museum is only a few hundred yards away.
"Good central location"
This hotel is centrally located in Valencia, we found it easy to walk to tourist attractions in the centre of the city. If you are heading to the beach however it is not really walking distance, but there is a taxi stand a very short walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was of fairly good standard, however there were some small maintenance things in the room that needed addressed (eg. there was tape holding part of the shower door together). The bar on the ground floor was very nice, and had good service. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful. We tried the breakfast only for one morning as it was an extra charge, and it was okay, but not particularly spectacular for the price. But there was a good view from the breakfast room. Overall though the hotel was fine, and as we were just staying a couple of nights and wanted to stay as central as possible to attractions this hotel was very well located for us.
"Great location, nice hotel."
The hotel is mid-budget, clean, comfortable with a good hot and cold buffet breakfast on the 9th floor with great views over the city. Some of the rooms, especially the courtyard facing ones, are a little dark so try and get one of the outside facing rooms. The hotel is located on a lovely little fountain square (Placa de Rodrigo Botet) with three quaint bars which do decent food, or it's great for just having a drink. The hotel is perfectly located for all the main sights, and the area is teeming with bars and restaurants. It's a short walk to the Cathedral and old town, and a few minutes walk from the main shopping area. The metro from the airport (get off at the Colon metro stop) is a ten minute walk from the hotel (tickets about 5 euro), or a cab from the airport will cost about 20 euros. You can hire a bike 200m up the road from Solution Bikes (Carrer de l'Ambaixador Vich) for 10 euros a day and cycle to the port and beaches (in about 40 minutes at a gentle speed on well signed cycle paths) where they serve the best paellas (we tried La Pepica overlooking the beach, very good!). Hope that's helpful - if so, please tick the box below. Have a great time in a lovely city!
I checked into the hotel only to be told four hours later that there is no air conditioning and it is 80° outside. There is no manager on site, there are no room fans available. The front desk cannot call anybody and there is no help. Consider very carefully if you want to stay here.
