Recently built, Ayre Hotel Gran Vía enjoys a privileged location in Plaza de España, next to Montjuic Castle, one of the most popular tourist spots in Barcelona. The hotel is also conveniently located close to the business centre of Barcelona, the "Zona Franca", and only 15 minutes from Barcelona airport.

"Showering in the rain"
The personnel were wonderful in the middle of the night (kind, patient, answering all questions with a smile) and I had the luck of having a small, but functional and isolated room. The hotel was obviously full but I never heard anything from anyone. If ever getting back I will ask for the same room. The minibar was abandoned, well at least the content, which I find very sad. This modern trend is not for any good, if you ask me. A minibar is the last savior for someone arriving late at night (1:30 am as I was after a delayed flight). At least you can grab a bag of nuts or chips and something to drink – a cold bear after a long hot journey or a coke. In this minibar, the hotel offered four free of charge bottles of water – two still and two sparkling. Thanks for the gesture, but please Ayre hotels, consider reintroducing the live-saving concept of a minibar. The Gran Via is located next to Placa Espanyol along a rather busy street. Still I wasn’t bothered much of noise and the traffic. The hotel is certainly out of the more central loop of Barcelona, but for my business-needs the location was perfect. Breakfast was ok to good. A big plus to the chef, who knows how to handle bacons. Not many hotel chefs do in these dire times, usually frying them into stiff slices of black (brown if you’re lucky) eternity, making the pigs life goes to waste for nothing. Scrambled eggs, strange sausages, and a limited amount of ham and cheese were to have, and a splendid amount of sweet things. But no tomatoes, no cucumber or anything resembling fresh toppings. The choice of bread was limited but still acceptable. The funniest thing about the hotel is the small sign in the bathroom, telling guests to take a shower instead of a bath. Well, in my room there was obviously no choice. The sign tells you how much water you save by taking a shower. I have no doubt in this case, since I could equally well have been showering in a slight summer rain. The amount of water coming out was insignificant, so you have to stand there for ages to get the soap of your body. Energy efficient' I doubt it. Step into the shower at 6 am and you are certainly ready for breakfast at 8 am. Another funny thing is the complete lack of internationalization, even in a rather modern hotel like this, in a city like Barcelona, a town fancying itself for not really being part of backward Spain. Television does only have Spanish channels. No BBC, no CNN, no German television, no French television, no nothing. Newspapers: all Spanish. But ok, wifi is free and working wonderfully. Would I recommend this hotel' Yes, if they do something about the showers, I certainly would.
"Ayre Hotel Gran Vía - Good location, and good staff."
For the location, security and overall attention to detail, I felt it was a good deal. Staff were helpful and helped when needed. Close to most amenities and services. I would love to stay there again!
"Great staff and location!"
I spent three nights at this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to go back there. It is in a great location just steps away from the subway and buses that go right past the door! My room was quite spacious and had all the amenities I needed. It was also quiet. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly! The menu selection in the bar area was good and the prices were very reasonable.
"A good base"
Ayre Hotel is very conveniently located in Barcelona. It is a modern hotel ideal for the Business traveller. Although the room was not large it had all the modern conveniences and an excellent bathroom. There was some noise from the busy street below but this was to be expected. Service was very efficient and i would certainly stay here again when in Barcelona
"Very good location and hotel"
My father and I stayed at the Ayre Hotel Gran Via for a few nights in the summer and had a very pleasant stay. This hotel is SUPER easy to get to from the airport, using the airport bus. It stops just a few steps from the front door, which is a major plus. We had a room with two beds, with a very quiet courtyard view, a very good bathroom, and our room included breakfast as well. The food at breakfast was delicious, with many options.
