El hotel es precioso, las habitaciones amplias, acogedoras, limpias, bonitas, con todos los requerimientos necesarios. El personal es muy amable, servicial, atento, resuelve lo que necesites.Comment of O. Norma , Mexico the 2015-10-21
"Doesn't get any better."
I've been to top level resorts world wide and this one is a true stand out. Complete perfection from service to beauty in all levels. Not to mention very special rooms and suites and private outdoor grounds.
"So much to like about this place, but don’t trip on the toddlers."
We found to be accurate all of the stellar reviews of this place. The grounds and facilities are tastefully designed and impeccably maintained. We had a Serenity Pool Villa, which was like an oasis of privacy. There was no view of the lagoon because of the vegetation, and the lack of a view felt a little claustrophobic, but the privacy was a plus. No surprise that service was extraordinary. As an example, most drinks from the in-villa refrigerator are complimentary. We called to request a supply of Diet Coke and water. The next time we were in the villa, we had been restocked and remained so throughout our stay. We had suppers at Saphron and Cello very pleased with both. The menus were extensive, and everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. Yes, it was expensive, but this is an expensive property. We did economize by having a late, big breakfast at the buffet and eating just one meal the rest of the day. Other than those restaurants, we had our other meals at the La Copa, attended to by the amiable Pablo, whose company and hospitality epitomizes the high level of connection the staff make with the guests. The complimentary EcoTour is worth the time. We had a knowledgeable guide who pointed out interesting birds and water life. I had a Balinese massage, and it was one of the best massages I ever had. The property is isolated from “real” Mexico, so if you are keen to bring back some quality souvenir, a visit to D’Origen is highly recommended. It is located in a little square known as El Pueblito occupied by some stores, some restaurants and a church in the middle of the Mayakoba complex. The hotel will transport you there and back. The crafts there are well-done and seem thoughtfully obtained. Just one cautionary note. We were surprised by the number of infants, toddlers, and children (and stroller and highchairs) on the property, with the attendant noise and tumult. I understand that the number of kids varies, naturally, by week. It didn’t distract much, but it made a modest difference in the common areas like the restaurants and the beach. I don’t criticize parents that bring their kids or properties that welcome them, but be advised that if you are looking for an environment of pure quiet and adult company, this might not be it. That said, I'm not sure if they even exist anymore! Having a private villa helps a lot. Notwithstanding that small surprise, we recommend this property, and would be delighted to return.
"Average Experience - Not a 5-Star Resort"
This is our third visit to Mayakoba. We stayed with the other resort last couple years. We wanted a change and were looking forward to our trip as Banyan Tree has an excellent reputation in Asia...unfortunately we were disappointed with our experience. Banyan Tree lacks attention to details of client needs/experience and definitely missing the "wow" factor that a luxury resort should offer. The good - the staff are friendly and very prompt in responding to our requests. We wondered if they waited in front of our villa waiting for our call because despite the size of the resort, most of requests were responded in less than 5 minutes! Areas of improvements: a). while the staff were prompted in responding to requests, they did not make connections or carried through the requests during our stay e.g. we asked for turndown service at 7pm while we were out for dinner, the instruction was carried out on the first night only. The housekeeper showed up at random time for the rest of our stay....it was not a good feeling when I had to say NO and asked her to come back at 7pm. b). Commitment/understand clients needs - we booked the villa for three adults (including my daughter) and paid extra for the third person, however none of the amenities or set up included the 3rd person....there were only 2 set of towels, 2 bath robes and 2 lounge chairs at the patio. I got the 3rd set of towels ...only when I called! We had to ration use of towels as I would be upset if I had to call every day for towels during my vacation. if the resort is not equipped to handle 3rd person, perhaps they should not have offer that option. c.) Products were average - while Banyan Tree is a spa resort, their products did not make an impression...personally I found their products were of drugstore quality d). inflexible - the resort arranged a car to pick us up at 6:30pm for our flight home. We were told that we were "lucky" as there was no client checking in our villa...so they could extend our checkout time to 2pm and for a fee of $100 USD (plus 15% service and 16% ) we could stay til 5pm. While I agreed to pay, I wanted to stay til 6:30pm ...however I was told that I have to pay 1/2 day room rate if I wanted to extend for another 1.5 hours!! After couple rounds of back and forth, they finally agreed the $100 will cover us til 6:30pm. e). Staff did not attempt to connect with clients. When I stayed at the other resort in Mayakoba, their staff greeted us by name on the 2nd day and talked to us. In Banyan Tree, they still asked our villa number on day # 6! f.) Not well equipped.....I forgot to pack my hair curler and asked if I can borrow one from the spa/salon. I was told nothing is available, however they could buy one for me at $86USD. I was surprised that the resort did not equipped with the basic. In addition, their spa facilities is very basic/dated. In summary, we know this is an expensive resort and prepared to pay as we want the experience.......however our actual experience really does not justify the charges.
"Amazing Vacation. TOP NOTCH SERVICE "
We stayed for 7 nights at this amazing resort and words cannot express how amazing the service was. We were in a family vacation and stayed in a 3 bedroom family villa, our only complait is that there is no restroom in the ground level (lots of stairs from the pool to the bedrooms). The food was excelent and room service was incredibly prompt. The service is consistently one ok the best we have ever experienced with an unbelievable attention to details. Thank you for a memorable holiday
"Worst Banyan Tree hotel"
Upon arrival I was quite shocked that it was first of all a golf state and that I that I had to go around everywhere with the buggies which is very inconvenient. The above information was not stated properly on your website which is very deceiving. Also the beach is not satisfactory at all, there were big rocks in front of the hotel and we had to walk to reach to the clear waters. My sister in law got food poisoning and had to be taken to hospital. The only credit that the manager gave us for this inconvenience was he took out some donning by the pool and half of in room service as if he was a doctor and knew exactly which food make her sick. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights but the last night we had to deal with doctor visiting her and going to hospital. Oh if you are scared of animals don't stay here cause there are lizards and monkeys everywhere. After all this hotel is in the middle of jungle.
