"A true Banyan Tree experience - exceptional"
Arrived here 5 days ago very early following a long flight and was greeted with jasmine flowers, refreshing drink and a very warm welcome. Straight away we were checked in and were whisked away to our signature pool villa (in a resort golf buggy) and shown around. Really appreciated to be able to go to our villa well before the stated check in time, something that preceded what has so far been an absolutely amazing holiday. Wow, we are so impressed with the villa, set in beautiful gardens close to the resort lagoon. It is just what I expected and more! It feels to be in traditional Thai style so I feel I am truly away and in a tropical paradise. The pool, which is set in our own private walled garden, is very refreshing, a perfect temperature and big enough for a good swim. The villa, gardens and pool are scrupulously clean and well kept. The lovely housekeeper introduced herself and has made sure we have everything we need throughout our stay so far - even a little fresh milk when requested. Finding it very hard to pull ourselves away from the beautiful villa, we collected our bikes (you can each have a bicycle to use throughout the whole of your stay) and took a ride around the resort to check it all out. The golf complex is stunning, you can enjoy a very reasonable round of golf and each player has their very own caddy - what a fabulous idea. Well appreciated in the heat of the Thai sun. We have dined in most of the restaurants and Saffron is my favourite - the Thai food tastes amazing and I can't wait for a few more meals there. Breakfast is buffet style but again, Banyan Tree gives you plenty of time to choose to take it and I think there are so many villas that enjoy room service, breakfast is a very relaxing, unrushed affair, overlooking the beautiful lagoon. The beach is very close by, you can cycle to the path that leads you to the beach. We couldn't believe how quiet a huge beach could be - we've watched the sunset there and strolled along it a few times. The spa is very good, the therapists are professional and well trained (being a therapist myself I know when you are being treated by a professional). I was treated especially well by Nan (with a Balinese massage) who showed great respect and care throughout the whole experience. What can you expect from the Banyan Tree ' Kind, gracious and caring service always with a smile. The Banyan tree Phuket has managed to create a sanctuary of peace, quite and tranquility not experienced in the other resorts in this area. Here you will not find loud banging music, but instead a place to be quiet, unwind and enjoy life. Thank you everyone at the Banyan Tree.
Just had 7 days at the Banyan Tree and cannot fault the resort. The staff were so helpful and courteous and could not do enough for you. The food that we had was all excellent, the restaurants were expensive compared to eating in the town but well worth it. The rooms were very nice, clean and the way they were laid out made them all very private. Sunbeds on the beach weren't great ( not very comfy) but round the pool was perfection.
"Everything we expected and more"
Arrived here yesterday morning with a greeting of smiles, refreshing towel and organic natural energy juice ( lotus flower). Checking was easy and painless and due to our very early arrival only had to wait a short time for our villa to be ready. What to expect from the Banyan Tree resort........' Any brochures we read don't do it justice, it's simply breathtaking as you steer up the driveway and walk through the lobby to view the scenic lagoon. Our villa is situated right on the front of the lagoon (609) and so far has met all our expectations. It's very private, spacious, yet compact in its layout, offering steps up to our futon style bed ( extremely comfy) and bar, to and lounging area with a large day bed. Double doors lead through to the vanity areas, his and hers with built in closet, door leading to a bijoux court yard housing an out door large bath tub - room for two and the most magical place for a relaxing bathing experience whilst star gazing, with all the typical Banyan Tree luxuries, bath milk, oil and foam, all smell and feel delicious. Separate toilet, large shower and glass door to our garden, with pool, decking area with umbrella, sun loungers and day beds under a purpose built Thai style hut. All have individual lighting and power points. This area is equally stunning at night as it is in the day. Double doors slide from our living area, directly into the pool. Perfect for an early morning dip. Complimentary coffee and teas, soft drinks and basket of a selection of both sweet and savoury morsels and a daily basket of local fruit. And if this wasn't enough to tempt you, breakfast is awesome, set at the waterfront, which is just that, right on the lagoon, inside and outside dining with so much choice of foods, typical English breakfast choice, both hot and cold, much selection of breads and pastries, sushi bar, array of Chinese foods as well as large selection of Thai food. 2 omelette stations and justice bars and as much healthy foods such as fruits and yoghurts you could possibly require. Now one thing I wasn't 100% sure on before we came, despite my efforts to interrogate trip advisor, was is there a beach and how far is it if we're based in and around a large lagoon'. It's across the road. You're allocated bicycles complete with a basket at the front for your beach bag ( this is also provided for you as well as towels and flips flops- all you need is sun cream, hat, sunglasses and some bahts for a few drinks at one of the beach bars). We had heard of Tony's, which we found in minutes and enjoyed a papaya salad with chicken satay - delicious and friendly. There are parking bays for your bikes scattered across the BT resort, also you can take them out the resort and take a bike ride around the Laguna area which is approx 10 kilometres- not yet done that however love the fact that we can ride around with the wind in our hair and take in the scenery of the wonderful lagoons. We're yet to take in all that the BT has to offer but will keep you posted. We did eat in Saffron restaurant last night and was so delicious of all the complimentary tasters, of bit sized gorgeousness that came with it. Thai food a la carte, and done so so well. We tried the beef massaman curry and yellow Thai duck curry, both equally scrumptious with a choice of about 5 different types of rice! 24 hours in and we already feel relaxed and at home, no jet lag and such a huge contrast of our busy lives at home- from sports car to bicycle- but what a refreshing change. We love it. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and makes you feel at home. So far so good and am looking forward to the next few days of discovering our resort, however for now, Im Enjoying the privacy of our own little retreat.
