I absolutely love this resort, we travelled with our kids and I couldn't fault it. Pure Luxury and the pool Villas were enormous and stunning with pool access directly from the bedroom. You must do the high tea during your stay
"Beautiful Villas and Great Service"
My husband and I ended our Indonesian honeymoon at this property. We've stayed at other Banyan Trees before and this location met all of our expectations. The staff was lovely - such great service and nice people. The breakfast, included in the room charge, was insane - so much food and complimentary sparkling wine. The staff at Bambu, the main restaurant, were so kind. The villas were perfect - private, romantic, and just what we needed to rest up after two weeks of backpacking. My only complaint is that the hotels "fine dining" option, Jumana, is a bust. Sunset cocktails' Maybe. Romantic dinner date' far from it. The lighting feels like a cafeteria and the interior design is stark and blank. I felt like we were sitting in a lobby of a Courtyard by Marriot. We ended up leaving promptly and taking advantage of the extensive in-villa dining menu (which was perfect).
"Amazing staff, fading luxury, struggling to keep up with other 5 star hotels"
If you choose the Banyan Tree, choose it for 3 things: 1) the great, charming and utterly helpful staff who make your stay great 2) the pool villas which have pools that, unlike in many resorts, catch the sun and are warm all day long, and are large enough to have fun in (especially if you have kids), 3) the quiet and charming spa with great therapists. The hotel's issues: it's ageing, there's stair access to a beach, but it's rocky and was full of broken glass. The dining options are limited - the main cafe has a decent enough menu, but the fine dining option outlet was pretty ropey - we had an expensive seafood platter for 2 and it was pretty bad, long frozen crab and prawns way past it's prime, fine dining from a decade ago... The hotel's a little isolated, but for the villas and the staff - worth a short visit.
"Review for Bambu"
I went to Bambu for lunch yesterday and had an awful meal in a beautiful setting. I'd made a special effort to go. The halloumi wrapped in pastry tasted like it had come frozen and been warmed up, the onion in the Greek salad was in huge chunks - frankly the whole Greek salad looked like it had been thrown together in a canteen - and the lamb was so overcooked it was tasteless. The only redeeming feature was the ginger mojito. All this set me back about 400k. Really, really disappointing.
"A Nice Resort"
A place to get married or for young couples to enjoy the serenity of the hotel with privacy. Friendly staff is also a trademark of this hotel. Contract through hotel for water activities is much more safer and convenient as well.
