"Not representative of the Barcelo I know & beware of the crocodiles"
This is not representative of the Barcelo I know. It is definitely not a 5* resort, 2 at the most. We got married at Barcelo in Cabo and were extremely disappointed by this location. As others have mentioned they cater to locals, which is fine, so some Spanish definitely helps. Room: Dirty, often cold shower, we were premium and never got any of the associated perks, mini bar was never refilled despite numerous calls. Food and drinks: Some buffet items were ok, mostly generic and not a lot of variety. The other restaurants were awful. Pool snack bar was convenient, but generic burgers and fries. Wine was awful if wines your thing, although this is all over CR, so find something else to drink. Drinks were fine, but the pool bar stunk, i mean like rotten milk smell. Pools: Pools were fine, clean, taken care of, not crowded, but I'll never understand the blaring techno music all day. What was especially annoying (and somewhat dangerous) was the big speaker is right next to the kiddie pool, so when I was trying to communicate imminent dangers to my 3 year old, he couldn't hear a thing Kids club: Didn't use it, no one seemed to, although my son enjoyed the nightly kids dance/song along on the main stage Which brings me to the most concerning part of this hotel. I went for a walk around the grounds near the beach to find some wildlife/take some photos. There is a small inlet/river and some mangroves. I got up close, saw lots of birds, and hundreds of crabs. I was standing on a rocks in the water, and walked around the perimeter of a small pond. Later on my husband and I took our son to the kids playground which is next to the pond, we were all looking in the pond and saw a crocodile. Not 1 but 2. Thats right, next to the childrens play structure, and no warnings, or signs. This is right on the property between 2 buildings. some of it has a white fence around, but its not protecting anyone or keeping them out. We mentioned it to security and their response was "the front desk is aware of them, but they don't bite"!!!! Not sure if they tested that theory....
Excelent hotel all inclusive. Maybe must be have better brands liquors. Shows at night are very good with great dancers. I recommend it to everyone. Go ahead and enjoy a beautifull beach in one of the nicest country in the world
"Nicely spent few days"
It gets quite crowded during national holidays, but in mean time there is much less people. It's quite busy thou, because the hotel is big (capacity is about 1000 people). Big pools, free and delicious food.
"Nice place but too far removed "
We hiked across the panamaian border and Some locals suggested that since we were going to the Nicoya peninsula we should stay at barcelo tambor, it was very nice however the food wasn't very good and our ac died and wasn't fixed promptly. It's really far and remote which can be good or bad. All in all we had a great time
"Hotel Barcelo playa Tambor"
If you like school cafeteria food and low low shelf drinks and service with an ugly attitude then this is the right place for you! Can't imagine how will give this place a four star rating. The wine is atrocious one type of red white and rose I will bet you have never ever heard the brands they have. And by the way there is no choice in them if you want run there is only one type. No choices at all.
