"Great hotel in perfect location"
Perfect location, beautiful views from restaurant / top floors, great service, classic but still modern in terms of bathrooms etc / amenities, helpful staff & concierge, not for free but still value good value for money. Would go back again
"wonderful value!! authentic."
This hotel's location is the very best on the Grand Canal.Love this place. Best yet, we stayed in a smaller inexpensive room off the main building. Still not shabby with silk wallpaper, a tiny terrace, full marble bath and shower + all the vibrant and lux amenities of the breakfast room and lobby, terrace on the canal,etc.. The pictures do not do it justice. There is even a gondola stop for new arrivals with luggage. Wish I had known that, for the trek of a few block from the water taxi stop with my luggage was not much fun.
"To Die For"
Absolutely stunning. The Deluxe Palazzo Double room facing Grand Canal is spectacular, the views are like nothing we had ever seen! Service is top notch and the location is unbeatable. Loved the breakfast on the top floor. If you want a picture perfect memory of Venice, this is the place to stay. Experience of a lifetime worth splurging on. The old part of the hotel where we stayed has a separate reception that you enter from the Grand Canal, rather than the side canal that gets you to the big reception for the large art deco part of the hotel, just in case you take the water taxi.
"Classic and classy with a modern twist"
We spent two nights at the Bauer Palazzo in July arriving with taxi boat from the airport. You make a stylish entrance with the boat directly into the hotel lobby which is stylish(but not as stylish as at The Danieli) with very high ceilings and comfortable chairs. The reception and concierge personnel are both friendly and helpful. We stayed in a junior suite which was nice. The hotel is located directly on the street with all the best luxury shops in Venice and only a stone throw away from the Piazza San Marco. The Bauer Palazzo has a very nice outdoor garden directly on the Grand Canal where you can sip an afternoon or pre dinner drink and enjoy the busy canal with all the boats and gondolas - in full privacy. There is also a superb restaurant, De Pisis, with a terrace onto the canal. Ask for a canal side table and take in spectacular views of the Grand Canal and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute on the opposite side of the canal. Excellent food and Italian wines. Very romantic. Last but not the least - breakfast at the outdoor rooftop restaurant. Absolutely magnificent 360 degrees views over Venice. Outstanding!
"Yes, depending on the room and staff's mood!"
My husband and I were traveling with a friend. We had two rooms and were grateful to discover both had outdoor space with gorgeous views. If booking, I recommend making direct contact with the Bauer or LHW and asking for room details. The location is perfect and all the major sights are a short walk away. The hotel's outdoor terrace is spectacular. Breakfast is great, but skip the room service. Though we loved our rooms, the level of hospitality in the hotel was inconsistent. Upon arrival we waited about twenty minutes before a front desk agent made eye contact or acknowledged us. Eventually a warm, cheerful woman checked us in and showed us to our rooms. The concierges were inconsistent. Some gave excellent recommendations (Da Ivo restaurant, for example) and others seemed inconvenienced by the few questions we asked. Though the restaurant and bar servers were cordial, many other staff members were disengaged. For example ,when we asked for help with the slow, often non-existent Wi-fi, an employee shrugged and said, "This is Venice," then walked away. We understood what he meant, but the dismissal of our request was offensive. I received a cold sendoff at check out when I settled the bill for our two rooms. It was a somber transaction, ending with a receipt handed to me by a nearly expressionless male agent. We spent thousands of dollars on our stay and were courteous guests. I don't like meaningless small talk but, "We hope you enjoyed your stay" or just "Thank you" would have been appreciated. Instead, I left thinking, "This is Venice."
