The hotel is located in the heart of Venice, two minutes walking distance from St Mark's Square and shopping and cultural area.
"Typical 5 star hotel ...... but on the Grand Canal"
First, a heads up. The Bauer is really two parts - a refurbished palazzo on the Grand Canal, with a modern 5 star hotel appended on the back. Unless you're paying an enormous fee, expect to be in the hotel, which is very modern and up to date. Probably a bit on the smaller side, but remember this is Venice, where space is really at a premium. This is definitely a 5 star hotel, with a very friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous lobby, and fabulous breakfast buffet, the best I've seen in Italy. Location is about 2 minutes from the San Marco vaporetto stop, about 5 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Short walk to all the major tourist sights; we only took the vaporetto to get to the train station and back Very quiet rooms. And perhaps the most eclectic collection of TV stations ever - CNN, BBC, Italian, French, China, Russia and Saudi Arabia. We stayed on Thanksgiving Day, and a very nice touch was a surprise tray with pumpkin pie slices and a holiday card. We booked very off season, and the price for what we got was excellent.
"high price for low quality"
Location of Hotel its good, direct in Venise centre, long time ago this hotel muss be very good and stay in high standart. They still hange 4-5 star for the prices, but very low quality. Room equpiment too old and damaged. Bathroom very dirty, but they act after I complain, taht mind lot other room dirty similar. Think about it when you must spen 300-400e per night in such small dirty room
"WARNING! 1 star hotel - no kettle and shabby rooms! Please go to the ai cavelieri instead!"
No where near a 5 star hotel. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and feel compelled to tell all exactly what you're going to get. I can only assume the people giving the good reviews have come from the suites. The deluxe room was shabby, the bathroom was mediocre and the mattresses were rock hard! The photos on the website are not what we got! Please don't be suckered in to going here! There is no kettle and tea bags are 10€ each! Never have I before been to a hotel where there is no kettle and you have to pay for tea bags''' We checked out on the first night and went and stayed at Ai cavelieri which was up to standard and is in a very good location. Do not go to this hotel!
Excellent staff, particularly Marco, who is on reception. We had a small problem with our room on the first night. The next morning I spoke with Marco and he happily and politely offered us another room. Everything was good from then. This is about our fifth visit to either the Bauer, the Bauer Casanova and this time the Bauer Palazzo. Every visit has been exceptional. The breakfasts are fabulous, everything you could want. Coffee good and hot. It was very warm in Venice on this trip and the problem with all city hotels is the air conditioning units which make a noise. A small price to pay for such a fabulous place.
"A heavenly spot in a heavenly city."
The room was fabulous with a nice view of the piazza and water. The service is impeccable and the breakfast on the terrace overlooking the water is simply to die for. The room was spacious and comfortable and I'd go back in the blink of an eye.
