"Visibly worn out facilities in the room"
This hotel is located in an area close to public transport. But the facilities in the hotel are very old. The bathroom looked worn out; the towels were tired due to many years of re-use. The facilities are nowhere close to a 5-star hotel. We found a couple complementary tea bags in the room; I made a cup of tea using a tea bag, marked green tea; it tasted terrible (like very low quality cheap tea). I had to throw away the tea. Will not stay there again.
"Good location, expensive restaurants"
We had a comfortable room, but everything was a bit beige - rather like an old Crowne Plaza suite, and possibly the most uncomfortable sofa ever (needed a winch to get up out of it) ! Wifi was also very variable - although I was on holiday I had to download some work stuff to review urgently and had to do this in the middle of the night as in the evening it just fell over all the time. But the suite was spacious, there was a separate shower and bathroom, loads of storage, a practical desk and a comfy bed, with good linen. We had a delicious buffet the first evening, but it was expensive - although the chef cooked clam dish was totally amazing - it's a dish we still talk about. The Peking duck was pretty poor (according to my husband) - but everything else (including the cocktails included in the price) was good. After that first evening we went across the road to the local mall and food court to eat for a fraction of the price (two of us could eat in the food court for £10). We also had the most expensive cup of coffee ever in the hotel. The hotel actually has a good range of restaurants offering different styles of cuisine, but most are quite pricey. The rotating restaurant/bar at the top of the hotel is definitely worth visiting - we treated ourselves to a great cocktail each evening while watching the interesting vista of Beijing and enjoying some well performed music from the guest artistes. Breakfast buffets were super - a broad range of choice to suit almost any palate and preference; although the dumplings and other local dishes were what we and most of the locals were going for.
"Comfortable but tired"
A really nice looking hotel from the outside and the foyer, but the room we stayed in needed a little maintenence. The bathroom looked as if it needed some attention, but over all the room was comfortable and well seviced. The buffet is crowded at breakfast but the food is good and the choice excellent.
"Not really a 5-Star hotel"
My first time to stay in this local hotel in Beijing. Supposed to be it is 5-star but the service is not. Checked in first week of November, the air outside was so bad (dangerous level of pollution). The room heater is too warm, could not be adjusted. They have a decent breakfast but quite crowded. Needs much to be desired in terms of quality of choices, and coffee. Lunch and dinner are good in terms of choices for Chinese and international cuisine. During check-out time, they could not issue invoice for my bill because their system was down. I know where not to stay the next time.
"Comfortable hotel in a good location"
Slept really well here for 4 nights in a comfortable room with great views when we started our tour of China. Breakfast is a bit chaotic if you go when the tours are all there but you can ask to be seated in a quieter area until you have acclimatised.
