"5 Star Concierge Service"
We will be making our first trip to Charleston on 12/21. Charleston Place has a fantastic location for seeing the sites in the historic district. After considering the highly regarded small hotels/bed and breakfast choices, we opted to stay at a full service hotel. And I'm glad we did, because working with the concierge department, before a trip, is the best way for us to have a really great vacation. A full service hotel means that there are highly qualified Charleston experts, who are dedicated to helping a vacationer experience the very best Charleston offers. In our situation, I did a lot of research- and needed a lot of input- to narrow down our restaurant choices, in what is arguably, one of the finest restaurant cities in America. ( I did a lot research on a restaurant blog called Eater- special thanks to the Charleston Eater reporter, Erin Perkins- and I highly recommend this, as a way to research Charleston restaurants.) Having done my research, I was able to have a much better concierge experience than if I just asked them questions without doing any research first. I also read a lot about Charleston, and then asked quite a few questions about sites, and how to get the most out of our 5 night trip. I did almost all of this by e-mail. I would especially like to thank Carrie Luoma (provided most of the help), and Rick Burton (head concierge) for some additional assistance. Finally, we have some dietary restriction issues, and I would especially like to thank Chef Michelle Weaver of what might be Charleston's finest restaurant ( I will let you know after the trip is over!), Charleston Grill (the fine-dining restaurant at Charleston Place), for sending me an e-mail, to be sure that the kitchen can accommodate our restriction; still giving us a fantastic dining experience, The other restaurants we chose: The Macintosh, The Grocery, FIG, Le Farfalle, and Butcher & Bee. So if you are planning a trip to Charleston- and you would benefit from a fantastic concierge team- then consider staying at Charleston Place.
"The Charleston Place keeps improving!"
I have stayed at the Charleston Place several times before and that last time (several years ago), I thought that the property was showing it's age. We had a business meeting here last night and today, and I must say that the remodeled rooms will not disappoint. First class in every aspect, with the exception of not having a coffee maker in the room. Beautiful marble bathrooms and excellent toiletries. We had a continental breakfast in the board room we were in as well as a plated lunch. Food and service was excellent. Everyone who works here goes out of their way to make eye contact and asked how our day was going and if we needed anything. We had dinner at the Charleston Grill (the signature restaurant). Wow! Food, wine, service was excellent. I would rank this restaurant in the top 3 I have ever eaten at in Charleston, and that is saying a lot for this town.
We upgraded to The Club level and all the services were perfect. The hotel is ideally located. Staff is knowledgeable, warm and efficient. Would definitely return to a Belmond property and highly recommend this hotel.
Just returned from a 4 day stay at the Belmond for my daughter's wedding in Charleston. I loved this hotel. It is in a great location to easily walk the lovely historic district of Charleston. We looked at several other hotels in the area but liked the Belmond the best. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend the Belmond and would stay there again on my next trip to Charleston. Also, it is pet friendly which I like.
"Great Property, better location"
4th floor suite, lovely but no tub nor coffee maker. Very attentive & friendly staff, will repeat! The hotel is in a perfect location in the heart of historic Charleston. Lot's of upscale shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance.
