"If there is a heaven on earth this hotel is it!"
The hotel is situated in the centre of the national park with an amazing view of Igazu Falls. You can wander over there when the crowds have left. The gardens are stunning and the swimming pool is beautiful. There aren't enough superlatives in the English language to describe the delight of sitting by the swimming pool with a glass of champagne watching the birds swooping for water and listening to the clatter of the toucans.
"No Other Place to Stay"
Perfect location by the Falls on the Brazil side - ensure you make the most of your stay by visiting the Falls outside of hours when the tour buses leave or arrive - great for early morning viewing of falls when very few guests are around. Hotel is pricey owing to the location but perfect setting and good facilities.
"Best place to stay to see the Falls"
We stayed for 3nights, its a very gracious hotel, staff are excellent, the rooms and corridors upstairs seems a trifle old fashioned, not in a bad way, buffet breakfast are great, we ate in their other restaurant, that was very good. But, the outstanding part of staying here is the access to the falls after the hundreds of coaches have left for the evening you can stroll down, take your time and photos. Saying that its also a very peaceful place and the views are to die for. Service in the bar and round the pool is second to none. I don't know about cost as this was built into our Audley Tour but I should think its expensive, but worth it
My husband and I stayed at Belmond das Cataratas for 3 nights and it was great. The location is prime and the service and friendliness of the hotel employees was first class. We had a great time. We used their tour service and their prices were comparable or the same as the original park prices but with private transfers included. The breakfast buffet was great. The only con was diner time, they require reservations for the a la cartel restaurant and one day it was booked. Fortunately their room serviced is 24 hrs and it was great. I will definitely stay here again if or when I go back.
"Hotel in Paradise"
When you wake up at Das Cataras, you think you've died and gone to heaven. The surrounds with the view of the falls look like the garden of Eden and the hotel itself is beautifully designed in Portuguese colonial style. Truly comfortable public spaces, particularly outside overlooking the falls, make it a place you don't want to leave. Staff are excellent, rooms are comfortable, tho no tea or coffee...is that just a British thing' Pool area is fabulous and the staff look after you excellently. A la cartel menu didn't rock my boat but thoroughly enjoyed the barbecues and buffets. Breakfast was excellent in a lovely environment - come if you can.
