"Beautiful Situation right next to the Iguacu Falls"
We spent four nights here. It had been recommended by the owners of the fazenda we stayed at in the Pantanal. What is so wonderful about its situation is that it is situated right next to the falls which you can see from the front of the hotel. Staying at the hotel and in the park itself means that you have access to the park all the time and not just during the public opening hours. If you want to be pampered and spoilt and receive excellent service then stay here. It is pricey but we felt it was somewhere special to stay for our 42nd wedding anniversary. We got a special deal for our four nights stay and the hotel offered us an upgrade as well which was very nice. Our room was spacious with his and her washbasins and a bath. Decor was in keeping with the style of the hotel which was established in the 1950's so not sparkly modern. You felt that you had stepped back a few eras! We ate in the a la carte restaurant as well as the pool restaurant and on our last evening we ate from the bar 'snack' menu which was excellent. Large portions and good value for a 'snack' All meals we had were excellent and the menu in the a la carte restaurant was varied and imaginative. The staff were friendly and welcoming and always remembered your name the second time you saw them. I had two massages in the spa making use of the happy hour 20% discount on offer in the afternoons. The lady Irma, who did both massages was excellent and I felt revitalised after both. The grounds are lovely and well kept. What we did think would have been a nice touch would have been to label some of the bigger older trees with local and Latin names. Maybe a thought for the management for the future. Transport to the gate was a bit confusing. We had been told when we booked that the hotel had its own shuttle to the hotel every 30 minutes. We told the taxi we were staying at the hotel and he took us to the main gate and indicated where we should buy our park entrance ticket. We then took the bus and got off as instructed at the third stop. carted our bags up the steep steps and into the hotel to be asked why had we come on the public shuttle! We were unaware and it would seem that the taxi driver was too that the hotel has its own gate where we should have be taken! The hotel must make this clear to others who book directly and not with a tour operator or opt to take their private transfer directly to the hotel.
"A veritable oasis in the jungle."
We spent two nights at the Hotel Das Cataratas as part of our visit to Iguaçu Falls and Irene said she would like to spend another week! Everything was absolutely terrific. Our room, one of the cheaper ones, was great with plenty of sitting room and ample room for bags etc. Staff were great! Service was great! Breakfast was great! The BBQ evening was great! However the rack of lamb in the restaurant was only passable. The said our waitress was great and the wines superb. We can highly recommend Hotel Das Cataratas.
"Classy hotel in uniquely amazing location"
The hotel is beautiful and situated perfectly inside the Brazillian national park for stunning access to and views of the Iguazu falls. The hotel oozes class and sophistication without being pompous or pretentious. The staff were friendly and courteous. The pool area is perfect for chilling out after a day of adventuring. The restaurant and the grill/buffet were both delicious. The only niggle is waiting at the gate of the national park for transport to the hotel. Also if you can pay extra for a room with a view I would definitely reccomend it.
"Amazing place but pricey"
I stayed just one night to experience the falls up close. My regret is that I didn't arrive earlier in the day and leave later. Service at this hotel is impeccable. Professional, kind and informative. The food is incredible. The only check against this hotel is cost -- WAY too expensive. I did it, but I would search for specials next time to make sure I cut the cost
"Gorgeous hotel directly on the falls"
We stayed at the Belmond in early September for 3 nights. WOW is what we said upon exiting our van that picked us up from the airport on the argentinian side. This is a fabulous hotel in an absolutely stunning setting, almost like in a movie. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food in both restaurants (buffet and a la carte) was good, and the room was nicely furnished and very spacious (we got a Junior Suite with a king size bed). It was low season and there were not many other hotel guests, which was very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.
