I visited this hotel over Easter weekend for one night, I arrived at the hotel expecting a standard room with a double bed and to my appreciation find out that they have upgraded us to a garden view room which has a king size bed. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor before I booked the hotel I fully expected the room to be of a smaller size but in all honesty I found the hotel room to be perfect as we are only sleeping there, the bathroom was impeccable with a power shower and a beautiful design. I will be happily using this hotel again as it is extremely close to museums and other places of interest, there is a Waitrose across the road and if you're feeling peckish there is a Burger King, KFC, and even a Starbucks on the road over. I didn't have breakfast with my stay as we didn't feel it was necessary seeing as cheaper places were open nearby.
"Perfect for our short break!"
Our daughter recommended this hotel for its convenient location, and we found it ideally situated. Gloucester Rd tube station is a five minute walk, and buses leave for Baker Street and Clapham from nearby. This enables the museums, shopping areas and the river to be reached speedily. We spent four nights here, and slept well. Our room was at the back of the hotel, with a balcony and a view over the garden. The room was quite small, but well equipped and the bed was comfortable, though a standard double, not a king size. The shower was powerful and hot. There wasn't much room for make up etc in the bathroom, and it took us a while to work out how to turn on the taps. (pull forward towards the right for cold, towards the left for hot.) Each morning we enjoyed an excellent breakfast, a buffet with bacon, as well as a continental option. You could have as much as you wanted. The bar area was comfortable, with free newspapers, and a 'Happy Hour' from 5-8, with beer at £2.50 and a class of house wine at £3. The red wine was French cabernet sauvignon, and worth ordering. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Lots of local choice for coffee, snacks and dinner in the immediate area. Waitrose just across the street too! We plan to return .
We had a nice large superior room at the front of the hotel, but found it too noisy with the traffic on Cromwell Road. The staff were very helpful and gave us a quieter room at the back of the hotel, looking down into a garden. It was smaller, but offered a much better night's sleep. The hotel is really handy for Gloucester Road Tube Station, which is about two minutes walk away. There are plenty of shops and cafes in the area. The Natural History Museum, the V&A Museum and Knightsbridge are only a short walk away. Friendly staff.
After reading other reviews and having paid for the bulk of my two night stay with vouchers from a well known supermarket I was not expecting the best of rooms however I was pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely little room at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Yes there was some damage to the carpet in one patch and also to the bath where someone had not been careful but that did not cause us any discomfort. We went down for breakfast both days around 9 am and found the room only about a quarter full. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was plentiful and good. The hotel is perfectly situated for the tube station and only a few minutes walk from the museums. There is a good choice of places to eat in the area too. I would come again and could easily recommend this hotel.
"A smart stay "
Very well located near the metro station, it is surprisingly quiet. The rooms are small but the bathroom is wide! The breakfast is good, if you're a fan, but no room service is available (and you're referred to burger King! )
