Sitting outside on the patio overlooking South Beach's Ocean Drive is beautiful, but the food was delicious and attractive too. It was not an inexpensive meal, but the French Toast was excellent. My daughter loved it. Nice bread, good custard, and mascara one cream. I had a egg white burrito with sausage that was filled with fresh items, and eggs were very well prepared. Definitely worth the money.
"Second stay not as good as the first"
This was our second visit to The Betsy our first being in 2011. We upgraded to have an ocean view room and were expecting something quite spectacular for the price but apart from the view we were disappointed. We had a lovely comfy queen bed but the room itself was quite small with very little storage for our clothes etc. The shower room was very pokey. You need very deep pockets to stay at this hotel but it was our anniversary so was for a special occasion. However, we used the valet parking and they managed to damage our hire car quite badly all down one side of the vehicle. They were apologetic etc and agreed to deal with the insurance but the whole experience left a bad taste for us. We dined on our anniversary night in the restaurant and the steak was superb. The food cannot be faulted and the service was excellent but service at breakfast not so great and we had to complain. The final complaint would be about the lift which has barely any lighting and I literally had to stoop to see which buttons to press. Why is the lift so dark'
"Perfect South Beach location"
The Betsy is the perfect place to stay for a comfortable vacatioion. Right on the beach. Good sushi meny (hard to find in Fl.) They pretty much charge you for everything here - but its worth it. Will go back. Great atmosphere with a gentle salt water breeze from South beach.
"Posh. Posh. Posh. But off their game"
The Betsy came highly recommended and for good reason . . . this place is the EPITOME OF POSH. Our room, though on the smallish side, was bright, clean, and nicely appointed. The gathering area on the first floor was spacious without being cavernous and very comfortable. The staff, though to a person, pleasant, were definitely off their game. No mention was made of the included breakfast existence -- let alone hours of operation -- at check in. Worse, actually much worse, the next morning as I accessed my large suitcase I found the right side of the top handle ripped from its interior lodging, inconvenient doesn't even begin to describe schlepping this thing around without a top handle strap. Then, when I fished my iPad from my carry-on a piece of broken screen fell to the ground. These problems did not exist before surrendering my bags to the bell staff. Of course we were in a hurry to get to the port so I did not have time to discus this with hotel management. And, when I accessed their website and attempted to advise them of these items, the site would not post my message and crashed several times. Overall a bad day for myself and The Betsy.
"Good hotel,Perfect location"
Very nice, expensive hotel at THE prime location on Ocean Drive. Easy access to your own/The Betsy beds etc. on the beach + in easy reach of nice restaurants and shops. If you like good nights sleep, book a room in the new building (more expensive, but worth it). We had a good stay (hotel). Different is the service. Except for some cleaning personnel and some waiters, the rest was not interested in any means. We stayed for the week: we did not got 1 single time the question, how are stay was. As we are frequent Small Luxury Hotels SLH visitors, The Betsy is absolutely not a well performer! We had a nice stay, but not again!
