"The Besty Hotel Ever!"
No, it's not a typo - The Betsy Hotel is one of the very besty hotels I've ever stayed in! The hotel is absolutely beautiful – it has a quiet, elegant, charm about it which immediately draws you in and makes you feel comfortable. The room I stayed in was beautifully decorated and had a light fresh feel to it. I felt as if I were staying in a bedroom at a friend's house than staying in a hotel room and small touches like the shelf with a selection of books to read, should you wish, is genius! The bathroom was warm and inviting and had a television which was somehow part of the mirror. What I loved the most was the staff, Wayne, Margot, Evan, Carlos, Lucas, Alfonso and Anastasia, to name but a few are gems and the owners of the hotel are seriously lucky to have them! Never have I stayed in a hotel where every member of staff greet you with a smile, talk to you as if you are a friend, have an answer for every question you ask, regardless of the question and are so willing to help. Each and every staff member was warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and it’s obvious they love what they do. The fact that I can name so many of them illustrates the impact they made on me. I seriously cannot praise them enough! The food served in both the restaurant and the roof top bar was amazing and I’m a chick who doesn’t really eat. So if I say it was great, trust me, it was great especially the parmesan fries with truffle oil. I loved The Betsy so much, that after checking out, I booked to return again and for a longer stay. If you’re thinking of going to South Beach, you’d be proper cray cray not to stay at The Betsy!
"Worst experience in Miami"
We booked this hotel based on the fabulous reviews. When we arrived at the hotel at night, we were presented with a pre-prepared check in sheet that assigned us to an Atrium room in the art wing, but the front desk told us that was a mistake and switched the number to another room, which is the smallest room facing a wall. The room had a low humming noise possibly from the conditioner or some equipment outside. We called the front desk and were told that no additional room was available at that night and they would send an engineer to check the room. The engineer never showed up. We waited and waited for 20 min and the front desk called again saying the engineer fixed the problem and the noise was actually music somewhere. The noise did go away that night, but it was back next morning at 10am. We also received a morning wake up call at 6:30am which we did not reserve. The front desk sent another staff to knock on our door 8min later and we had to call again explaining we did not reserve the call and please stop waking us up. When we checked out we were told it was a staff who entered the wrong room number. The whole experience was really below the standard we paid for. Would not go back again.
"Miami Beach Delight"
The service at The Betsy is what sets it apart from the rest. From the moment you arrive you are treated like a VIP by the doormen, valet, reception team and concierge. Nothing here is too much trouble. We received the friendliest of welcomes that set the tone for our stay and I LOVE the bottle of prosecco at reception - a great touch for guests arriving. Our room was lovely and the bed was soooo comfortable. I loved the TV in the bathroom too. The room was small (but hey, we knew that when booking) and it was a slight pain that there is no storage in the bathroom for toiletries. The concierge deserves a special mention; they really went above and beyond. From restaurant bookings to basketball tickets - your wish is their command! After being in New York where an umbrella was too much trouble, it was a real treat to be so well looked after. Thank you Betsy concierge! The hotel really is something special - like a home away from home that just happens to be in the most amazing location! I can't wait to visit again once the renovation works are complete and sample the new rooftop pool.
"The Jewel of Ocean Drive"
After our stay, I have to say I'm a little bummed out.... that I've known about this hotel for years and just now experienced what a truly incredible destination it is! My advice is don't wait; book now and have no regrets. As you can guess, we were just thrilled with our entire experience. After our first amazing dinner at their top rated restaurant, LT, we ate almost all of our meals there. Incredible, diverse menu with OMG popovers served piping hot at the start of each meal. Lobby was warm, cozy with comfortable seating and a great bar, decor and artwork invite exploration - including our wall by wall tour of every single floor, as the room halls had rarely seen photos of the Beatles and Rolling Stones from their mid-1960's USA tours. We also had drinks at BOTH rooftop decks, both featuring tremendous views of the ocean (right across the street). Brand new pool was added on the roof of the newly-opened Art Deco wing, to complement the ground level pool on the original side. Great spaces for private events, including a large courtyard surrounded by rooms with balconies. We loved, loved, loved our room on the Art Deco side: Super comfy bed and lots of large pillows, outlets right next to and above the level of the side tables (no need to move furniture to access outlets), fully stocked mini-bar in fridge inside one of the side tables, our own bookshelf stocked with books, and a makeup desk area w large mirror and lighted magnifying mirror on articulating arm. Well-lit closet w all you'd expect at a luxury hotel: Super soft robes, iron and board, safe, and an extra large umbrella. And I hesitate to get started on the bathroom, but I'll be short: Huge mirror w built in TV w waterproof remote, high end toiletries, huge doorless shower w the controls on the opposite wall (no need to get wet turning it on), shampoo, soap and conditioner in dispenser (no hassling w the tiny bottles of most hotels), lots of shelves for your stuff in both the shower area and by sink. We found every one of their staff to be incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient. They really seem to be able to attract a better class of hospitality employees and it definitely shows. I've got to stop or you'll think I'm an employee. (I'm not.) I've never had a hotel experience - and it was an experience - like our stay here, so apologies for sounding like a shill, but there was so much more to say than, "HUGE thumbs up!!" :-)
"Jazz and comfort in South Beach"
The Betsy is a peaceful oasis in the the hyperdrive of South Beach yet only a short stroll away from the nightlife and action when you want it. Service is friendly and always near at hand when needed. The bar is and lounge is a comfortable place to relax with friends or catch some great local jazz. Can't recommend this hotel high enough.
