"Nice comfortable hotel"
This is a nice hotel, outside the city center in an upscale residential ares. If you want to stay away from the crowds, the location is perfect! Positive points: . Great Location, not far from city center (10 minute tram, 20 minutes walk), near the Museum park, Vondelpark, walking distance to several restaurants, shops and tram stops super safe area too. If you want a good and quieter location, the hotel is perfect; . Clean; . Free wifi (although was not working at night); . Safe in the room; . Decent room size; . Very comfortable bad; . Nespresso in the room; . Nice L’Occitane toiletries; . Very nice staff (a part from the bar tender); . We were allowed to leave our bags for a few days, between 2 stays. Negative points: . Hair dryer was dated from the 80s.The hotel should have better hair dryer by now; . The shower glass door was not very effective – bathroom would get wet after showers; . The only major problem we had was one of the night bar tenders, who was RUDE and extremely impolite. So, as long as you stay away from the bar, you are ok. I’ve been to Amsterdam many times and I rather stay away from the crazy city center. The hotel location was perfect, close to tram stops, restaurants, shops and not that far from the city center. It is also a good option for a business trip. The only note I make is that this is rated as a 5 star hotel, but leans more towards a 4 stars – both in comfort as in price, so it is a fair deal. Would definitely stay there again. Note: 1. you can buy the tram passes at reception. Easy and simple. 2. If you are arriving or leaving from Schiphol, it is super easy to reach the airport from Amsterdam Zuid station, which is a couple of tram stops away.
"Lovely rooms, great service"
I stayed here for work for three nights. It was super clean and really comfortable. The rooms are a good size and I slept really well. There is no noise from other rooms. L'Occitane toiletries are a very nice touch. The breakfast is tasty with a good choice. If you've read my other reviews you'll know this is important to me! There was a good choice, both hot and cold options and the bacon and sausages were of a higher standard than you usually find in a hotel breakfast. I just wish I hadn't been getting up so early because I would have spent more time just chilling and returning to the buffet. The first night I was there I found it difficult to turn the heat up in my room and felt a bit cold. It was well below zero in Amsterdam at the time and my nose was cold. I thought I wasn't going to be able to sleep. But even though we'd arrived quite late, as soon as I called reception and asked them about it they sent someone up immediately with a fan heater and to turn the air conditioning to the warmest it could be. I was toasty in minutes. That was at midnight, so I can recommend the service and problem solving skills of the staff. The only thing I would say is that when checking in they took €100 off my card and said I wouldn't get it back for a month. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in a lot of countries and have never had anyone do that. Take my card details in case they need to deduct something, yes, but never just take money and not give it back for a month. I thought this was a bit strange and I'll have to wait and see if it arrives back in my account! Otherwise it was a great stay and I thoroughly recommend it. It was slightly out of the centre but very near the museum quarter and lots of bars and restaurants were very close by. It's a good spot.
I can highly recommend this hotel for business trips or to impress your beloved. Very friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, perfect food but it has its price. On the otherside every 5 star hotel has its price ;-)
Relaxed, elegant hotel. Mainly visited by business people, not your typical tourist hotel, Which to some is an advantage... Friendly staff, excellent room service. Worth a visit, worth the money. Will stay here next time I am in Amsterdam.
"Out the way "
Stayed here for three nights to meet up with old friends. First impressions we're ok but had a couple of hiccups. When we were given the key to our room we went along and found someone sleeping in the bed, after a quick exit we were given another room which was very nice until we came to check out and we're given a bill for first room which included breakfast (which is very expensive ) which we never ate once. It was rectified after a lot of discussion but still couldn't help feeling like we were being ripped off, everything in the hotel is very overpriced. It's also out of the way, no bars, restaurants or anything near so feel the price of drinks- food etc reflects this. The rooms are comfortable but wouldn't return as would much prefer to be in another area where you can walk around and try out different places without having to rely on taxis
