Located in the closest neighbourhood of the ancient Roman road Aurelia, the Black hotel is only a few kilometres away from the Vatican City and 10 min by car from a golf course.
The hotel enjoys an easy access to the sea and the city.
"Really great stay! "
My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. I think it is a great base for exploring the Vatican City and the attractions in Rome as long as you don't mind taking the bus and metro briefly. It really isn't difficult and is very cheap (€1.50 altogether). The free shuttle bus in the morning to the metro is really useful as well. When coming back to the hotel in the evening on the bus, get off at the supermarket and walk through the supermarket car park, up the ramp and the hotel is pretty much just there. No need to walk down the busy road at all. The area is fine and we didn't feel worried at all walking back after 9pm from the bus stop(we were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews on here but it really is easy and isn't a big deal). It was quiet and was really nice being just outside the hustle and bustle of the city. The breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you 😊
"Okay for a city break..."
My partner and I stayed here this week and found the hotel reasonable. Yes it is further away from the city which is not ideal but we stayed here for 3 days and found it fine for this short length of time. The shuttle bus service to the metro is useful, however, don't rely on this leaving on time as one day it was 30 minutes late, meaning we nearly missed our pre-paid sightseeing tour. Our main issue was going out in the evening as we wanted to enjoy some of Rome's amazing restaurants. On our first night we paid 30 euros each way in order to get to a restaurant in Rome via taxi which when you then add in the costs of dinner made it a very expensive evening! The second night we found a restaurant near Vatican City which was only 13 euros each way which would be a tip for those of you who want to dine out in the evenings. The hotel itself had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, however, as has been previously mentioned, the staff are not particularly friendly or welcoming - we were never greeted or acknowledged at breakfast by the waitress working there!
"Wouldn't return here"
Where can I start... the hotel is too far away from the city sights, ten minute life in your own hands walk to the bus stop, fifteen minute bus journey to Cornelia then the underground four to seven stops into the City. Also seemed an undesirable area. Rooms are clean yet basic but no tea n coffee facilities. TV channels all in Italian. Staff seemed quite uninterested and very little interaction with the customer. I dare'nt tell them the window roller blind was broken, I just tied it up. I was late out of breakfast one morning only to be told by a member of staff as I approached the coffee machine "we are closed" as she waited by the door to lock it behind me ' Four Star '' I've stayed in better 2 star hotels elsewhere. Sorry to the Black Hotel.
"Great trip! "
Modern hotel that on first impression, is like a nightclub a lot of black decor. Breakfast and breakfast room amazing! 👍Place would be brighter with more of the green on corridors and stairways, black bit oppressive..Place is immaculate though!! 👍👍 Place brighter with Evelyn!!! Evelyn on reception is so helpful and friendly. She made our stay! Travelling into Cornelia to catch Metro is free then €1.50 for 100 mins.. To be honest walking you can see most historical sites. We did hop on hop off bus to give another view of whole city. Didn't need fast pass in the Vatican this time of year. Also audio guide €7 useless, map confusing to where you actually are whilst in the Vatican. Great city, great trip. Clean and quiet hotel !!
"Too far from the city. Moved hotels"
My partner and I booked a weekend break through wowcher and weekender breaks to Rome and where allocated this hotel, unfortunately for us we were told the hotel was right in the centre of Rome, by that we thought literally near the historical areas, when we arrived after paying 50euros taxi from the airport, our stomachs sank as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere! We stayed and had a drink while we decided what to do. We then decided to take our bags and get a taxi in to the centre of Rome costing 35euros, the Spanish steps and find a hotel. To our delight we found a wonderful hotel one street away from the Spanish steps 'Condotti Hotel' highly recommended. Although the hotel wasn't for us the staff were very polite and they did show us the shuttle bus service, we evaluated the costs and decided we were better off getting a hotel in the centre than mess around getting a shuttle bus to then get the train to pay to get a taxi to where every we were going, to then get one back to the hotel later. My partner and I like to go for walks and have a few drinks on an evening, but situated at this hotel there is no option other than to stay in as there are no bars around the area and the roads are not great to walk in the dark.
