Located in the closest neighbourhood of the ancient Roman road Aurelia, the Black hotel is only a few kilometres away from the Vatican City and 10 min by car from a golf course.
The hotel enjoys an easy access to the sea and the city.
"Very good hotel "
Just got back from a weekend in Rome and this hotel did exactly what we needed. Even though it is quite far out from Rome, a taxi into the centre or the Vatican City cost between €10-€20 and was quickly arranged by the hotel within 5 minutes of asking. The staff were friendly enough, the barman in particular couldn't do enough to make your stay pleasurable. Good range of food for breakfast (however the bacon and scrambled were cold). The room was spacious and modern with a safe and mini bar which we used as a fridge for any snacks we bought from the supermarket that is located just down the drive. Overall, a very nice hotel for the price and we would stay again.
"Too far out "
I went with three friends to Italy, starting with Rome where we were booked in at the Black hotel. My advice..... don't stay there if you are a tourist who wants to see the famous sites of Rome. It's too far out and can be expensive to get back and fo! For example it cost over £40 to get from Rome airport by taxi Having said that there is a shuttle bus from the hotel to take you to the nearest metro from where you have to make your own way into the city or the Vatican. The down side is there is no shuttle back which can be a bit stressful! The hotel is indeed black inside and out, as is the attitude of some of the staff, and if you are sharing a room with a friend be warned you will also have to share a bed! Albeit a king sized. Would I stay there again, no sorry I wouldn't.
"Be warned if you book saver room"
At first the hotel looked fantastic, but as soon as the receptionist found out we booked the saver room it completely changed! they treat you differently to other guests that are considered of higher quality just because you booked a cheaper room! Horrible service, spa and pool was not due to open in May-June, but on the day we left it opened! Unfriendly and rude staff and too far from Rome city - we had to pay a ridiculous amount on taxis to and from the hotel. Not worth it atall. Recommend staying somewhere nicer and closer to the city!
"Cheap and clean, teeny niggles"
Reception to the hotel was fantastic, very welcoming and helpful! And when they say black hotel it really is... walls , floor, ceiling all black in the corridors, rooms very airy and fresh and although basic perfect for your stay. First day for some reason we had no wi-fi in the room but we did in the corridor... however the next day it worked fine. Cleaners are very noisy in the morning crashing carts and shouting to each other down the corridors to which I asked them to be quiet at one point, good job we had to be up early for a bus journey or I may have been a little more annoyed, free shuttle to the metro!! Perfect service for getting out and about, it is a little bit out of the way for Rome and you have to spend a little to travel to and from the hotel but next time I will just get a hotel closer. Oh and although not major... there are no English tv channels at all, I asked if we could at least have subtitles but nothing available, we didn't spend an awful lot of time in the room but maybe a news channel wouldn't go amiss to 'catch up'. Oooooo and breakfast was yummy, buffet style... so grab and go.. very fresh and cooked well.
"Unfriendly, literally black hotel"
We arrived tired at midnight, found hair in bed, first said couldn't move us, then moved us to another unacceptable room. Claims to be renovated, not true. Lights, blinds, flooring warped, very noisy, pillows doubled, strange-a 4-star hotel' With exception of Elena, reception staff rude, unfriendly. Location very poor, spent lots on taxis. Would not recommend, there has to be better hotels available in same price range.
