"Great little hotel"
Very nice and cosy, clean, helpful and friendly staff, nice little breakfast. Walking distance from pretty much everywhere that's interesting in town. On the down side, the showerhead could have used some maintenance - but it really wasn't all that bad and we didn't bring it to the staffs attention.
"A palace it is not!"
Firstly 4 weeks to fix a lift is unacceptable. Having out go out a back door into another apartment block, use their lift and then through a back door is a sign of very poor management. I fell sorry for the staff who tried to be helpful and pass it off. Let me tell you about these strange hard plastic chirrs which were designed to look like medieval royal chairs in the so called bar. Don't sit on them unless you want back problems. Sitting from any distance more than one inch will provide a shudder up your spine. The executive room with three beds was so tiny they obviously squeezed a bed where you might have put your luggage. Location good, staff tried but never again!
"Excellent location, big room, friendly and helpfull staff"
The hotel is located in the heart of the old city. It only takes a minutes walk to the museums and moments. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a large room in the back of the hotel. It was clean, had a king size bed and a bathroom with a shower. During my full stay (5 nights) the lift was broken. If wanted or needed, staff is ready help you using another lift that seems to be located in an adjoining building. For two nights I had trouble sleeping due to the noise of the customers of an late hour bar arguing in the street. The hotel staff does not seem to be able to do anything about it.
This hotel is in a very good location and the staff are pleasant. That's all I can say on a positive note. It's dark, uninviting and lacks atmosphere in the public areas. The bedrooms are trying to be artistic and different but it doesn't work - style over substance I would say, it all looks a bit tacky. Breakfast is basic. The lift was broken for the duration of our stay and we were locked out in the evening as nobody had explained there was a "curfew".
"Borghese Palace Art Hotel"
This hotel is great if you want a central base close to all the major sights of Florence. Friendly, helpful staff, clean an tidy rooms (The one we had was small, but very well equipped and ideal for the three nights we stayed) Breakfast was really good, great variety and superb coffee as you'd expect in Italy! One drawback was the lift! I noted from another review before we travelled that the lift not working was a problem, and it looks like the problem is maybe more permanent than the hotel lets on! We were on the third floor, so it was a bit of a bind. Would still recommend the hotel however, as the lift was the only fault we could find.
