"Brilliant location, excellent service, uniquely decorated and great value for money."
I stayed here with my boy friend in Feb 2016 and was pleasantly surprised by the value we received. The concierge was welcoming and helpful upon arrival, offering us a map and restaurant suggestions. We were only a 3 minute walk from the Duomo and of course therefore, walking distance to all of Florence. The hotel itself was a complementary unique blend of modern and historic. In the lobby, the foyer and lounge were decorated with budding modern artists works for sale while the bar area had plush fabric chairs and couches and walls adorned with black and white photographs. A lovely glass elevator in the heart of the historic building took us up to our room which was spacious, had high ceilings and was very clean. An added bonus was our complementary breakfast in the morning with a selection of pastries, fruit and also some cooked items with table service and excellent Italian coffee. As an added bonus after walking around Florence all day, the hotel had a lovely spa area in the basement. There is a quaint little hot tube and a sauna which is a nice and unexpected added touch. We enjoyed our stay very much and think that we got a tremendous deal through Expedia as we payed around £20-30 a night for this wonderful place (Feb 2016).
"Great Hotel and Staff"
what a great start to our vacation. the staff at the hotel was great. The elevator was broken but they made sure our luggage was carried up 4 floors. Rooms were spacious and breakfast was one of the best of our trip.
Great location, but falling short on many details. Decorated by a designer with high ambitions and low budget, e.g. plastic lounge chairs in the lobby. Breakfast was ok but not great, too. Nothing super awful, we had a great time overall and might even come back to this hotel if nothing else is available. Very friendly staff, which makes up for most of the disappointing details. As said in the headline: Good enough if you come with realistic expectations.
I recently stayed at the hotel for a short break in Florence. The hotel is ideally located in this beautiful city. The Duomo is approximately a 5 minute walk away and all the other main attractions 10-15 minutes away. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and made me feel very welcome there. The room, whilst not the largest I've stayed in was adequate and comfortable and very much what I was expecting from an old Florentine building. I wanted to feel like I was staying in Italy and not a bogstandard hotel room that could be anywhere in the world and I certainly felt like that. The only real issue that I had was on one of the evenings whilst getting ready to out for dinner the radiator in the bathroom made an awful noise. Fortunately when we got back at the end of the evening, the noise had gone, otherwise it would have been difficult to sleep. I would certainly consider staying here again if I have the good fortune to return to Florence.
Just returned from this hotel and feel a mixed review. We orginally booked it for a 4 star accommodation. It is not what I would consider 4 star an ok 3 star. The location is ideal, everything within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The staff on reception work amazingly hard. I didn't get the receptionist name but she was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Even booking a coach trip for us at nearly 10pm for an early start the next day. Melvin the bell boy was good. The bar was closed but Melvin did his upmost to sort us a glass of wine, it just lacked atmosphere and was empty and dark. The lift was outside our room (318) & kept us awake. And the metal stairs were just as bad. . The room was small, no tea/coffee facilities. A bottle of soda and two water bottles was the minibar. The towels and bedding were great and changes often.
